i am quite alright with this. Give howard 1 more year of competition to get that backup role before he has it locked. You don't see too many goalies these days that enter the league before the age of 25 and play (more importantly play well) until they're 40. you just don't. Let him develope even more. it can't hurt.

to his credit, cherry did pick the wings to win it all BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED. and he's picking them to be the first team to repeat since, well, we did in 97/98. he doesn't like their style (b/c we dont fight i guess) but he at least respects that in the "new NHL" this is the best team in the league year in and year out so he's ok in my book. You have to admit they're the best, but you don't have to like it. as for melrose, i kinda got a soft spot for him. don't know why. maybe cus he was always the hockey analyst i saw growing up thats still around? eh. whatever. shouldn't take much to get tampa bay moved a couple notches in the standings cus theres no place else to go but up for them...

as long as pavel, hank and nick each get one, i'll be ok.

not to mention anaheim and LA. i live in southern cali and am greatful i have two clubs to watch during the season but i still think two southern cali HOCKEY teams is dumb. then again the kings have some crazy/devout fans. especially since they've sucked for 15+ years.

haven't closed out a series at home yet this playoff run and that won't change. needed 6 against nash, 6 against dallas, and so to do we need just 6 against the pens. no prediction. but we weather an early pens onslaught to come out of the 1st up by 1 and never look back. ozzie will be stellar tonight and win the conn smythe. he friggin deserves it.

i almost s*** myself when the pens scored with 35 left. thing is i sorta had a feeling they would the second mule didn't clear. but even so, i was shocked when it happened. then again i still wasn't at throw-up status. i think the fact that we still lead this thing 3-2 and have yet to close a playoff series at home settled my stomach a bit. we WILL win game six. i know i know its been said before but its true.

pens can suck it if they're gonna ***** about the calls in this game. this thing was called even from puck drop to the final horn. they even had a 90 second 5 on 3 and couldn't put it away. one win from lord stanleys, how sweet it is...

well i just crashed my car after some ******* came into my lane then drove off. it didn't look too bad and i was about to drive away after hitting a median and some front end damage, then i noticed oil leaking everywhere. the officer helping us out said "oh, you're f***ed". he was awesome. anyways, i hope the wings have a better night today than i did the last few hours. 5-2 wings in a game that is pretty close til the last 7 minutes. PP/PM is the key to this series...

your an idiot. lets say franzen will with 100% certainty will score 2 goals a game in the finals if he plays. lets also assume that the wings are up 3-0 in the series and winning game 4 4-0 in the third. now franzen is skating up the ice and collapses due to _______. he later dies at the hospital. obviously im being overly dramatic and unrealistic. but in this scenario would you rather franzen play and put his life on the line and have the wings win the cup or start the rest of the team and see what happens. just because he feels fine doesn't mean he is fine. cough.. FISCHER... cough. His health is infinitly more important than hockey. alsways has been, always will be. END OF STORY. that being said, i hope he is cleared to play soon.

Fun melrose fact (don't worry you'll like this quote from him): Back in 98 before the cup finals started, Barry was asked on sports center who he thought would hoist the cup and in how many games. barry quickly replied. "Wings in 3. Its not even going to be close..." The Wings went on to sweep the Caps in 4 straight. HAHAHAHA. awesome. i was reminded of this fun fact today when a friend and i were discussing the finals (presumably pens/wings) and he said: "yeah, wings in 3." love it.

^you dont get to the SCF without an extremely skilled team. i dont think anyone is doubting that. BUT, the wings are not the rangers. the rangers have not made it past round 2 since 96/97. since then the wings have won 3 cups. Lidstrom, holmstrom, osgood, hasek, datsyuk, zetterberg, chelios have all been with the team for what seems like eternity and know what it takes to win the chalice. and yes, our D is better. you give us a slight edge, we'd like to think we have an overwhelming advantage there. its a wings board. its gonna be that way. all i know is that there will be no sweeping of either team if the wings/pens play of late is any indication. welcome to LGW and heres to an exciting series!
