when did goalies stop wearing throat protecting gear?
-
refs falling like dominoes
-
i don't understand that penalty heh.
-
looked like a poor line change... too bad it happened. Draper had a monster takeaway a few seconds before that on the offensive blue... gaah.
-
yahoo are also showing this game online.

Kocur was a much better hockey player than Downey though. Same goes for Darren. Those two were NHL calibre PLAYERS, even Kocur. Downey isn't an NHL level player on any level. I still think he can play a role on this team, just like Brad Norton did. Our fourth line doesnt actually DO anything. Putting a fighter there doesnt make it worse. It's matched against other teams 4th lines and plays limited minutes. Brad Norton didn't hurt the team by being dressed and skating a few laps in a game. Let Downey play

it's a real penalty type... just seldom, if ever, happens these days. i've never seen it in a playoffs game though, not that I remember.

I choose Islanders

No well.. nobody got permanently hurt afaik. Lilja pwned Sharp in a fight, Sammy had a 5 pts night.. Quincey scored. Glass broke.. All in all pretty entertaining
-
the rest of the wings are paying back the past months were Pavel was the only dude to produce. I mean, hey, they should defer their salaries for the period to him
-
lolol Quincey
-
sammy loves to pad his stats anyway, it's good to get some scoring touch back to the support cast. we gonna need all the goals we can get.
-
No relation at all.
-
there's a possibility there won't be a cap anymore by the time this contract is up
-
What Luongo has got absolutely nothing to do with anything. Throw out a random player's salary to prove a point? Ok. Brad Richards... 8M. Not even the 2nd best player on his team.
-
Their headache. As far as contracts go, the celiling was blown when Feaster gave his 2nd line center an 8M deal.
-
Good point.

Just because you play on the first line, it doesn't mean you're a 1st line center calibre player. Edit: To clarify. The Rangers would get a 1st line center (aka Gomez) if they could. Nylander compliments Jagr well, but they'd still seek to solidify that position. All elite centres will get their payday (in the cases of Modano Sundin etc already had theirs) once opportinuty arises. Couple a rising cap with a demand that's larger than the supply (not 30 elite centres around), and the cheques will keep coming. Briere will get more than 5M, if he wants.
-
How many 1st line centers in his age bracket do you get for under 5.5M?
-
Datsyuk is comparable with Savard, Briere etc. (a more complete player than Marc too) The contract is hopefully comparable too.

aside from that goal, it don't look that bad.

Season series for Wins: Preds 6-2. Stars, Wild 3-1. Flames, Ducks, 2-2. Nucks, Sharks 1-3. The Flames are pretty much an even match. It is what it is. I'm not convinced the Gaborik-enhanced Wild are significantly easier to beat.

Tampa had their Thunderdome rink for a while. twas big. Real big.
-
I went through memory and nhl.com's game-by-game stats (old boxscores) to see exactly who were on the ice.

Note that the same numbers for Z and Stevie was 4 ES goals against (of which one was an EN). Not a huge difference, but still there. Special teams were overall more of a problem than ES play in the series. In my opinion, this is where Datsyuk outperforms Lang. Dats can think defensive hockey and prevent goals, being more of a real center. Lang has lost much of that, if he ever had it. Hasn't got to do with being lazy and suck, it's just a pointer to how he's approaching status "done".
