Markov and Kronwall are open ice hitters, Fischer is/was more of crease-clearer stature. You can't teach that size. You'll also be damn lucky to draft more big defensemen like him who aren't complete pylons.

the loss of Fischer is almost irreplacable. A _big_, physical, homegrown defenseman with some offensive capabilities and playoff experience... and still a young man even by hockey standards. Try get that on the FA market and you're looking at quite big money these days. Trading for that means you're giving up at least what Shane O'Brien commanded. The loss of Fischer might have cost us the first round against the Oilers.

there isn't a whole lot to be had for Jason Williams. We lost nothing more than him in this particular trade. If this particular trade hadn't gone down we could've had the same team WITH jason williams. How is this current team now worse than it was before the trade? -

Pretty ironic that I've officially had Calder as the s***bag of the season... then he ends up a Wing. But as we don't see Willy no more, we don't lose a whole lot. -

Philly didn't go for Fedoruk just to trade him away... they want him. -
the problem isnt the rookies, it is Lang. Demoting Lang won't make him produce more or anything. The task is to get him going somehow until he is no longer a part of the team.

They've built a team of cast offs and own products that plays with good aittude and relentlessness. A perfect example of a model team that - IF it makes the playoffs - have all the ingredients to do well there. If DiPi can continue playing well, they have a huge chance of upsetting a top seed.

well Columbus did get him to put up better stats than the guys before him, so I don't really buy the "on a better team" argument. He was brought in to be as good as in Tampa, and produce similarily. They need him more than we do, I suppose.

Meh Oilers won 1, we won 1, two games went to SO (irrelevant). The Preds have to worry about the Oil anyway, we're pretty much bound for the Sharks/Stars now.
