I may be way off base here but, for those of you who really can't stand the make up of the team, the style they play and the management, wouldn't it just be easier on yourself to root for and follow the teams whom you covet so much? No one's gonna hate on you for throwing on a ducks or a sharks hat once you explain why you've chosen to root for that team. (BIG N.A. players) Not saying I'm a "better" Wings fan or anything like that, but I happen to like what I saw last year, and I like to watch skilled play. If I'm in the mood for some WWF style hockey, there's always the ECHL. Look I love an awesome hockey fight and heavy hits as much as the next guy, but I'd rather have a guy like Kronwall or Franzen who can hit and also have some skill, over Bob Boughner and George Parros. Don't really understand the strong dis-like showed by some toward European players. The Wings always draft low, and yes, they do draft N.A. players. They just never turn out good enough to be on the team, where-as the Europeans do. I'm glad Kenny's not wasting money for the sake of spending it. Last couple years all I heard was "youth movement!!! Youth Movement!!!", well it's coming around and now everyone wants to ***** about too much this not enough that. It's stupid. Look at where they draft.
-
I think you may have encountered yet another brick wall my friend.
-
<< I bet I know what Kenny's thinking. And a big BLAH, to the whole size and the whines about the lack of "big North Americans" ya'll should put that crap in your sig since it's posted every time in every thread. Yep, I like hockey fights too, but I like watching the Wings win more than I do them fight. The calling for 4th liners to play on one of the top two lines, or the thought of them having this magical effect on the team, is one of the stupidest things I've read on here in a long time.
-
I find it funny some people will judge a hockey players talent based on which country they are born in. Wings need point producing forwards more than some lumbering oaf who can barely skate, but is picked up simply cause he's from Moosejaw.
-
I think Rafalski already got it, when he was added to the offical roster on the Wings site, it had a #0. But now it says both he and Kopecky have 28. So Kopecky will be getting a new number I assume.
-
Probably #23 or #14 if that were the case.
-
Just some Eklund bologna. The OP asked "any rumors?" and I had read that one on his site. It's since been taken down for obvious reasons.
-
Just for the record, I was never one to bash him. It's just him being gone made me revisit the thread. Some classic Ozzie vs. Manny's back there too. And the ever so classic "Who's getting the C when Stevie retires?"
-
speaking of searches, I think I came across the original "Lang is lazy and he sucks" thread. Was going to bump it one last time for old time's sake, but thought that might be toying with some's emotions.
-
I don't get it, what is the guy supposed to do? Wrap 10 mil up in Bert and Big E just to get some freaking size? I'm sure he could pay Lomas Brown 3 mil to play right wing too, but it wouldn't be worth it. *free lions reference to lighten the mood *
-
Kozzie, don't know about getting #13 back although you never know, but the Wings have recently had some other numbers open up.... Eklund's got a Raycroft to Detroit rumor. Screw that, put Ozzie in net and let howard back him up. Both better than raycroft.
-
Come on Cap'n. You don't honestly think Rafalski has a better chance of working out than the lumbering oaf? (Actually I thought Hatch had a pretty good playoff that year considering) The Rafalski deal was a good one IMO. If you ask me the Kronwall deal is the gamble, and I like the guy.
-
Agreed. I think some people just like the thrill of having new players brought in and out all the time, and some only want a player in a certain mold, unwilling to give a different type of player a chance. Like I did with Bert. And those are some of the hardest to please. Panic induced dillusions?
-
Well perhaps I'm only one of a very limited number of people glad he's gone. First of all, 3 mil is too much (wings offer) let alone 4. He's slow, doesn't fit the Wings style, and was being out hit by much smaller players in the playoffs last year. yeah I know "he was hurt", and that's another thing. Not only is his body damaged, so is his mind, you can tell he doesn't want to hurt another guy. And I don't like to have to force myself to like a certain player. and Bert was about as far as I could stretch that. He's ranked slightly above Forsberg, and Big E on my list of dis-liked players. Sure gave him the benifit of doubt when he came here, gave him a chance, all and all glad he's gone. Last thing.... Why is everyone sooooo concerned with the whole "now were even smaller!!!!11" "How could this happen!" For one, one big guy isn't going to change a team, he had no impact in that type of department at all. The wings don't need football players they need some guys like Dan Cleary. All heart to go along with the great skill guys we have. Doesn't matter what size they are. Wow that was a long post on a guy I don't care about. hahaha! Maybe there saving cap for Feds. Deadline day the head line will read..........BOO NO MORE, WELCOME BACK SERGEI AND STANLEY!
-
I didn't mind if Bert was signed or not, but more and more I'm starting to wish he'd walk.
-
Wouldn't be shocked if they went after Shanny for a year or two. edit--- And I can't stand this guy at all, but is it all over for big #88, I mean who's going to seriously consider giving that guy a shot?
-
Maybe they didn't mean that Dats needs Z, could've been the other way around. Although, reading the post that clearly wasn't the intent either way, simply stating the two are a great duo and improve each others game. Nice try though.
-
yeah, your probably right, I like what they have now, but at any rate it's better than the Gorton fisherman's jerseys.
-
Hella fake. For one they look like poo, and for two, I'm going to guess no one else picked #79 and they sure as hell ain't the captian.
-
I remember a time when Bell was alot around here's "flavor of the week". I swear some people would take someone who could'nt even skate as long as they had some size.

Rumor: Blue Jackets may buy out Fedorov's contract
bringback91 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
The part about Fedorov is your opinion, not fact. Should Cheli, Draper, Maltby, and Osgood be booed, because they are clearly part of the past, taking spots away from youth? The future. Believe whatever you want to, but I think it's just as "selfish" for fans to see everything the guy gave to the team and it's fans, and then boo him cause he only spent 14 seasons here. Who's really the greedy one? edit-- 13 seasons not 14 sorry. -
I agree for the most part. I like the Caps, altough I'd of liked the old school ones from before they went to the blue with the eagle on it. Bostons are awesome. Vancover I'd like the black ones back, but anything has to be better than blue and purple or whatever it is now. I'd like dallas to use the north stars color scheme, and L.A. should do the black and silver. Colorado should change to the Quebec color scheme, with an A similar to Quebec's N.
-
For starters I don't think Philly has the cap room. Even if they did.......
-
No real surprise. People were a little rough on the guy, but I'll agree the money is better spent elsewhere. I don't really care either way with Bert either depending on the money. If he comes cheap enough great, if not, the money's best spent elsewhere.

I hear you, just saying numbers don't always tell the whole story. Obviously this is all depending on if he's bought out, or a deadline deal. I don't think anyone is saying bring him back at over 6 mil a year. I'd be more than willing to be his production would increase a decent amount playing on one of the Wings top two lines.
