Rumor: Blue Jackets may buy out Fedorov's contract
bringback91 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Rick Nash only had like 5 more points than Lang last year. I doubt anyone really thinks lang is as good as Nash is. Feds would fit in great with the line up and the payroll. He's a proven playoff performer who know's what it takes to win. KP, IMO it's staggering how much hatred there is toward the guy both on this board and down at the Joe. But that's been hashed, rehashed, and done again, so there is no point in getting into all that. Maybe some people are jaded or their memory is cloudy, but when it mattered (playoffs) the guy had the heart, skill, work ethic, and toughness to get the job done. Say what you will, but the guy wasn't and still isn't soft, and would complement Babcocks system well. Point is he's an upgrade over at least 6 players on the current forward roster, and probably more than that. Harold, I just don't really see any baggage that would still be affecting his play on the ice still remaining. I consider that part of it a non-issue. -
If that played out, I wouldn't be surprise if Feds ended up in Ottawa now either. Seeing how Murray's the new GM and all. I think the Wings would greatly benifit from Kozzie and Fedorov coming back. BTW, where's all the foaming at the mouth over Big E that I've had to sit and listen too for the past 5 or so years? hahahah! that guy's a joke. I can see it now "Imagine a line of Bert-Big E-Franzen!!!!!111"

Yeah I should've worded that better. I prefer the Black red and yellow ones from the Bure era in Van. Although the retro ones are the ones I heard (on here somewhere) are the ones they are using next year with the "Johnny Canuck" logo on one and the stick on the other. Those are sweet also. But yeah I agree, the navy and purple are extremly lame. I also wish Ottawa went back to the ones they had when they first came back (Yashin and Daigle style) not the home one's they wear now. Looks like a jacked up barbers pole or something. Pittsburgh should go back to the yellow instead of gold also, Ducks Pens jerseys are strikingly similar to me. Anyway I could go on all day...

Those are a big improvement, yet as with many teams I wish they'd go back to the Mid 80's- mid 90's designs. Old school Caps with the red white blue and stars on the sleeves, North stars, color scheme not logo obviously, Canucks (Bure days) although there new ones are way better, L.A (#99) days, Edmonton (#99 days) just to name a few.

Okay, for the last time......I didn't say "If Holland picked up Sergei at the deadline we'd of won the cup." I simply said if he was on the roster, magically making what Lang or Bert or whoever made, they'd of beat the Ducks. Never said that it would've been smarter to not pick up Calder and bert and just go with him, although the more I think about it, that doesn't sound that bad. Feds here with no Calder or Bert on wings? Sammy and Franzen or Cleary, any 2 of those 3. If he played on D, (which Lang would still be here, just not Bert or Calder but anyway) Hudler and Kopckey. Or go with 3 lines, seemed to work well enough for the Ducks. I guess I just didn't really see it that way. I guess my point is since it's Feds and not one of lang, bert, or calder.... yes I believe a line of Feds, Hudler, and any one of franzen, cleary, flip, z, dats or whoever would've been more effective than someone who didn't even play, another one who was uneffective to say the least, and yet another who despite some timley goals didn't show up for that series. Yet I'm the one not thinking before I speak...right.

Well, IMO alot of the aruging is due to the fact that some posters just can't respect others opinions, and try to make them seem silly or stupid for likeing said player or wanting him on the team. I agree, could get alot more for 6+ mil a year right now. But there not going to get anyone that costs that much anyway. At the deadline he's affordable. bring back 91!

I so do hate it when you act like a prick, but some things will never change, so deal with it like I do. Yep, banged up bodies and all, still could've won the series. IMO, if Sergei was in Langs spot, or Sammys on the point on the PP, or in an injured Lebda's spot, yeah I think the team would've performed the small amount better it would've took to win. Weather that's more PP production, puck control, speed and passing skill from the blueline, whatever yeah I think he would've been more effective than Calder, Bert, Lang, what was supposed to make up the second line. You don't agree? No, I didn't look to see if he'd of fit under the cap. I wasn't saying I thought they should've picked him up at the deadline. I simply said if he WAS on the team, I think they'd be in the finals right now. No, calm down and actually read what people type before trying to ridcule them with your ever so witty posts. I was simply saying he's not as "old and washed up" as many believe. You've already drilled you opinion of Fedorov into my head, really what is the point of your post?

Wings would still be playing if Feds was either the 2nd line center or one of the top 4 dmen. Can't say that about alot of other players. He's still got skill and all that, no doubt. A deadline deal would be great, go get 'em kenny!

Whatever Cheli had his reasons and knows more about the game, players, and traditions than all of you combined. So he didn't shake hands, big deal. Who's less of a man, him or the babies crying about it? I doubt the Ducks care one way or another. He probably felt robbed of that series and maybe a last shot at a cup. I support cheli 100%, and I hope he's back. Got a strange feeling he might end up with the Rangers though.

You know I like that idea. Although when mentioned in the past, a comment like that required a flame retardant suit.

To the Wings: Great season and playoff run there fellas. Couple of bad bounces away from perhaps a Cup. To me this season was way more than just trying win a Cup. This was supposed to be the year that the giant that is the Red Wings finally fell in defeat. Too old, slow, soft, euro, no heart, heard it all. All season long. Everyone of those was proven to be false. I like the roster, if not for some key injurys and some bad bounces who knows? But i do know that this current roster is good enough to get it done, with maybe a tweek or two. But there is no overhaul or "rebuild" nessicary that we all heard so much about last off season. From september to june the Wings always give me something to look forward to and root for. While upsetting and disapointing, this isn't the worst defeat I've gone through as a Wings fan. Hell I'm damn proud of them. Just wasn't the year I guess, but no need to hang your heads, players or fans. Gotta great team here.
-
In the words of Mr. Rasheed Wallace....."If it ain't rough it ain't right." And the bounces against the Wings lately have been pretty rough. We all know the Wings play some of there best hockey with there backs against the wall. Watch out for Dats and Z tonight. Huge games from both.
-
Sure they can. It's never over til it's over. And I love how cocky the ducks and their fans are acting. Can't wait til the Wings stomp all over there hopes and cockiness.
-
We'll see if you still have that same attitude when the Wings come from behind and take the series.
-
That's it exactly. They play a 7 game series for a reason. I said all along I wanted them to have the toughest road possible so in the end when they get it done, there'd be no question to who's really the best. So here we go. Dom's been great, but I'm looking for the shut down effort from him and everyone that we saw in 02. It's not over by a long shot, and I hope the Ducks think it is. As far as Lilja goes, the guys been a beast, and don't think he's not going to use this as some more fire out there in 6 and 7. I'm sure he's pissed, and I wouldn't want to bring the puck down along his side. GO WINGS!
-
Well yeah, isn't that all that there is really this time of year? W's and L's?
-
Hopefully that helmet fits him better than the one he has now. My prediction..........."Uh, Mr. Pronger, sir, your a very important player in the NHL and to the Ducks. We know ratings may get a small boost from you playing in the next game in anticipation of a payback of some sort." "So with that in mind we're going to fore sake the safty of other players on the ice, and say please don't do it again, or we may be forced to take .000025% of your yearly income."
-
I bet I know what you were thinking... Anyway to me, the MVP so far has to be Nick. With how depleted the d is, along with the fact he's close to leading the leauge in playoff points, is amazing. They've all played well which is a great thing, big guns, roll players, rookies, and of course Dom, but Nick to me is the main cog.
-
Neither do I. For example if it were Quincey or Markov that did the exact same thing, they'd be suspended for sure. Or like someone else said, if Pronger did that to Crosby, he'd be gone. but since it's Pronger on Homer, along with many other polictical factors expect to see his tiny head in that giant helmet come game 4. What goes around comes around though.
-
Prongers a bum, that's no secret. Blatent intent to injure. edit----the rest was just ranting.

Everyone's favorite shark fan spamadelphia had this to say, very similar to alot of s*** talk i'm hearing before this series. Keep in mind Blue Monk called him out to see if he'd stick around if his "sharks in 5" theory didn't hold up. Well, it didn't nor did he. Can't say I'm surpirsed....... Spamadelphia--(just add Duck where you see Sharks, and likewise with some players names) a. No I'm not, I'm assuming that the Wings have some physicality but have not faced a team like the Sharks. Not only did the Sharks physicality crush the Wings in the regular season, but they added Guerin and Rivet. b. All lines can score, but the Wings do not have a 4th line that can match the like of Clowe, Goc, Bernier. c. Zdeno Chara is vastly overrated. I've said so for 2 years. That being said, there's a reason the experts are nearly unanimous in picking the Sharks. They are huge, they are fast, and they are skilled. They forecheck relentlessly and will wear the Wings down. d. Again trying to equate what the Wings did to the Flames to what they'll do to the Sharks. The Flames are not in the same league as the Sharks, and you will find out soon. Sharks in 5...

This is exactly what you said in the other thread. You remind me of this SJ fan, honestly it's strikingly similar. I tell you what I told him. Lets wait and see what happens.

Well I think the soft and slow have answered themselves the past couple rounds, apperently the Wings aren't TOO soft or slow. As far as old, really is this that old?............... 44 Bertuzzi, Todd 32 17 Calder, Kyle 28 24 Chelios, Chris 45 11 Cleary, Dan 28 13 Datsyuk, Pavel 28 33 Draper, Kris 35 51 Filppula, Valtteri 23 93 Franzen, Johan 27 39 Hasek, Dominik 42 96 Holmstrom, Tomas 34 26 Hudler, Jiri 23 20 Lang, Robert 36 22 Lebda, Brett 25 5 Lidstrom, Nicklas 37 3 Lilja, Andreas 31 18 Maltby, Kirk 34 95 Markov, Danny 30 36 Meech, Derek 23 30 Osgood, Chris 34 45 Quincey, Kyle 21 37 Samuelsson, Mikael 30 40 Zetterberg, Henrik 26 I mean, 12 of 18 skaters are 30 or younger. Cheli and Dom have far out perfromed much younger opponents, so I don't see age as mattering much when it comes to them. Only 5 are over 35 and one of them is Nick Lidstrom---speaks for himself, best Dman in the game. So really, I put little to no stock in age being a factor to begin with, but it's not like the Wings are really all that old when you look at it.
-
maybe there a bit insecure. Always gotta talk about how great there team is and how weak the Wings are. Trying to trick thereselves into having some confidence? If not even better, setting themselves up for a huge disappointment, and I have no sympathy for fans like that when there sent home teary eyed.
-
Yeah, and if he didn't O' donna , should've gotten the extra 2 mins. Not too smart in playoff hockey.
