I think Lapointe would work out good. Not a fan of trading Grigs, (more of an impact player than most Wings prospects) but, can't say I'm the only one willing to part with someone. Doesn't HAVE to be Fillipulla, but understand that teams will not give up players for nothing, somebody with some talent has to go the other way to improve your team. Heck, I was hella pissed when the wings traded Kozlov, but it turned out to work and I was impressed with the move afterwards.

-sigh- Okay, here we go. Well, just because people "send" you tapes over the internet, doesn't mean you know what your watching. You should try watching the game live on your "friends" CIP maybe he could help you understand. Foul tip. You don't have to "say" your opinion matters more than mine, the way you wright your posts speaks volumes. Bunt rolled foul. That's right, you never suggested a trade, because your dealing in NHL2k6 world. Sure, Bell would be a great fit, so would Crosby, Ovechkin, Stall, and every other young up and coming player who doesn't make alot. Teams are DYING to unload those guys BALL!! Why should we not think about trading Fillipulla, "The kid *LOOKS* like he's going to *MAKE THE ROSTER* next year." Well IMO if you can't make the roster over players like Mowers and Cleary, your still a ways off and maybe you could contribute to another team, whilst boosting the Wings lineup via trade. Are we trying to win the cup this year or next. We have TONS of POTENTIAL talent, your not going to be able to bring in all these high-priced guys you want and keep everyone you want so....why not improve this year? IT'S GOING GOING! 2.4, well THIS year it would be 1.2, next year the Cap goes up anywhere from 2-8 mil, so you can afford to pay some role players a little more. Last time I checked scoring goals wins games, so fighting to me, while fun and cool to watch, just isn't something the Wings really NEED. So do you want to let me speak my opinions, or you going to try to be "clever" again. HOME RUN! Last time I checked baseball analogys were really lame. take it easy Boss, I'm not the GM so I won't be pulling the trigger on your beloved prospects.

In TSN's backchecking portion of there website, they said that a report in the Edmonton journal said that holland is ready to make a move with Lang. I could find no such article. If true, does this mean that it would be a trade with the oil, or no. Why would an Edmonton newspaper have the inside track above anyone else. (Lazy Lions prone Detroit media excluded) I was just wondering if anyone else heard anything about this report or any other from any credible source.

Yeah, that's why I said "taken with a grain of salt". But, you never know, stranger things have happened.

You should be shot for being a cocky bastard. Where does it say your opinions matter more than mine. I thought we needed a "power forward" type. I thought Lapointe was a power forward type. Oh, yeah your right Chicago will give up Bell for Mowers and Rivers since we can't deal any prospects, what a joke. First of all Boss, the wings don't assume a 2.4 mil contract it's 1.2 for one. Last time I checked Bell isn't a hard hitting dman who "fights". Besides why does the Dman have to "fight". As long as he hits I'm fine with him. I think Cullimore addresses the Dman and Lapointe the forward. Cause you don't agree doesn't mean you should talk down to me. I think my idea is a smidge more realistic, besides the players I want haven't ended anyones career with a cheapshot. Although I understand you wanting "Big Bert" your as big a cheapshot in your posts as he is on the ice. Think it through a little bit more before trying to rip on people, especially people who live in an area that picks up a few more NHL games then you get. Also if "fighting" is so important to you, I think Lapointe has been in a few more fights then Bell.

I think I'm gonna be sick.

Florida is asking way too much if you ask me. That would defienitly be a bad move for Holland and probably cost him his job in a year or two.
-
A report on NHL.com says the cap is going to go up next year. Bettman says anywhere from 40 to 45 million.
-
Wow, some real "perals of wisdom" in that post. Stats don't always reflect how well someone is doing what the coach asks of him. Is leading the team in playoff assists "not showing up"?

Post.

Chill out, boss. Your going to hurt yourself. You obviously care what he says or you wouldn't go on a wild rant about it. You don't respect anyone else's opinion any more than they respect yours. Ozzies not all bad, he's done alot of good things in a Red Wings jersey. Don't forget not long ago at all people were saying the same things about Shanny that you just said about Ozzie.

Personally, I think Allison sucks, so I'd pass. I'd be looking for a D-man myself, forwards are fine. I'd say get bigger on D.
-
Maybe Lidstrom to Boston for Leetch Sturm and Samsonov or Slegr? Got to admit it would be an improvment.
-
I'd take White in a heartbeat.
-
I kind of like that. For the most part goalies are a little strange anyway. But I like that he gets a little upset. Now I don't want him acting like Ron Hextall out there, but getting fired up after a goal shows me he's really into the game and probably felt he should have had that one. As long as he keeps his head in the game I have no problem with it.
-
Agreed about Rivers. I kind of like Cheli though, sure he makes mistakes but, come on the dude is old and he's still hanging in there. He was slated to be the 6th D man before all these injurys, and I think he's TRIED to step his game up. I think he'll be more valuble when we get further along in the season and hopefully get some more guys (thourgh recovery or trade) and he gets less ice time.
-
True, he definently helps make money, but I don't think the Wings have much trouble in the making money department. Besides, I know he's obviously very popular, but I don't think they sold 7.6 million in Lidstrom jerseys this year. And he also hasn't been completely worthless on the ice so as to necessitate $7.6M in jersey sales to make him "worth it." peace No, but Nicks performance isn't what brings the money in. That money will be rolling in years after Nicks gone. Look at the waiting list for season tickets alone. I don't know if you ever played sports but, you have to admitt one player doesn't make a whole team. Look how his game goes down when he's stuck with Lilja. That's why I think getting 2 or 3 good players is better than having 1 great player. Less ice time for your worst players.
-
You, probably don't care, but you really shouldn't use the Lord's name in vein. Just a suggestion.
-
Yeah, LaBarbera is a solid goalie, I just think they may be looking to a vet for the playoffs. If not to play then as an insurance policy.
-
Not that it really matters but, we already traded a goalie to TB back in the day didn't we (Hodson). Although I can't remember who we would've got in return so maybe I'm wrong.
-
The Devils?!? I guess that makes sense but, he's expensive to use as a back up.

Yeah, I know the feeling.
-
It's cool. I know some of the trade "ideas" were far fetched, I was just tring to say Lids would be the biggest trade in a long time, and the wings would definitly get some big time players in return. As far as which team, for the wings sake I would hope it would be an Eastern team. Maybe work on something with the Rangers (playoff contender). He would definetly have to go to a contender. Ottawa might actually be a great fit also.
-
That's what I was saying. A package with Lids will get you basically whatever you want. I wasn't saying he was bad, cause if he was you wouldn't get anything for him. It's the exact opposite, he's really good and every team would want a player like him.
