Thanks for the pointers, but it's tough to have disscussions with people if I don't respond. As far as sounding like a "prick". Not totally uncalled for since I've made some comments on here (since apologized for) I shouldn't have made. Kind of like the one you just made. I don't hate Lidstrom and I've already said that. The trade "ideas from inside my head, no sources or even rumors" for the most part would work out in the money aspect. Here we go again: First, I'll believe this rumor when I get even a whiff of it from somewhere else. Osgood has played like crap this season, but if you think he hasn't played well since 1998, you haven't been watching. The 30% less games Manny has played is a HUGE difference. Manny's never been a starter. That's a fact you can't get around. He's never even played a full season. That doesn't mean he can't, but it does mean that the stats you're comparing don't mean a thing because it's nowhere near apples to apples. Manny doesn't have many early playoff exits because no one has ever seen fit to start him in the playoffs except last season, when he got yanked for a better goaltender after having a terrible game. Remember? Does getting benched not count as an early playoff exit? Even great goalies have early playoff exits. But I think Ozzy's name on the Cup as a starting goaltender probably eases some of those painful memories. In 1996, when the 24-year old Osgood started his 50th NHL game, he already acheived more in his career than Manny (who is virtually the same age) has to date. If Osgood is a has been, Manny is a never was. Better in your opionion, plus the Wings bailed on him after one bad game (the D wasn't so swift if you remember) we'll never know what could have happened if they just let Manny play. Couldn't have been worse than what did happen, right?

The trade makes sense because you get 3 solid players for 1 great one. Kinda like what Boston just did. Plus Chara's not as great as what everyone thinks IMO. You know, if he makes 3.7 mill this year the wings aren't going to get him for 4. Also if Ottawa wins the Cup (which they will if the wings don't make a big move) then why wouldn't they resign him. Then we still miss out on him plus we made no improvments this year.

No I was simply saying that there's hundreds of trade Datsyuk (wings future along with Z) threads but put one Lidstrom thread up here and everybody freaks. And as far as Nick yeah, he's the most sought after Dman in the leauge and since they just dumped a big contract and we'd be taking another moderate sized one off there hands then yeah they might.
