It looks like DirecTV is still wanting 4 payments of $29.95 or whatever...or am I missing something important here?
-
First of all, Norton hasn't played a game in a REALLY long time in Grand Rapids. When I talked to him at GR's season ticket holder party, he told me he is having some back problems, and its not looking really good for him playing anytime soon. IMO, that means Norton isn't going to get a callup, PERIOD. As for Bootland, he is playing with a stick up his butt, even down here in GR. Keefe has come in and stole the "tough guy" act immediately. Bootland has not shown any hussle, or anything of interest. He needs to get his butt in gear if he wants a shot in ANY other organization, because the wings are done with him. He's a carreer AHLer.

Video, Bootland and Keefe's fights from Sunday

Agree'd. I realy enjoy watching these videos...Seeing them in person, then online...Brilliant! -
You just made me cry like a baby....Thanks alot. Roenick is a tool. I wish the 'yotes would just send him packing. Nothing like walking out on the team in the middle of the season to go have dinner. He needs to be shot..or maybe sent to Boston...
-
Which one did you get? I was talking to a guy and he said he had his "taken in" and it is still HUGE on him...
-
So, what was everyone's opinion about the latest jersey? I thought they were pretty cool...except I'm not a fan of the ironed-on look.

Well, looking at stats for a player like Ellis is stupid. He isn't supposed to be a goal scorer. But if stats are what we are going to go by, then yes he will be pointless in a RW uniform. He's not going to score 30 goals in the NHL, and he isn't supposed to, IMO. He is the kind of guy that wins the battles along the boards, is a good PK guy, etc. You know exactly the kind of effort he is going to give every game, and every shift. That is more than I can say for alot of Wings...and yes, most of the wings are more talented/skilled than he is. With that said, the Wings aren't going to keep him around, and I believe he will be with a new team in the future (when his contract expires).

Ellis is the hardest working Griffin, this year. He isn't going to be a 1st or even 2nd liner, but he is everything you need in a depth role. And now he is named AHL player of the week....yep, he's junk. Edit: Spelling.

Now, I want to say that I am not a Joey supporter. I didn't like him in GR, and I dont like him in the wings uniform. I have been commenting on his glove hand for years, and I was sad to see its still slower than that tidal wave of molasses. But, I don't agree with rather seeing Howard (or Liv, for that matter) in net. Howard has played a whole 2 games in GR, after being out for close to a month with a hurt ankle. Liv even got hurt while Howard was out, and we had UHL/ECHL guys as our 1, 2 punch. IMO, Howard is NOT ready for the NHL, and unless he grows alot in the next couple months, I think he should have one more year in GR. As for Liv, I dont even think the wings should re-sign him. He started out horribly, but then after going to ECHL for a little while, has played better here. Suffer few a couple bad games this year, and give Jimmy his shot when he is ready. Why break his confidence?

He was up in GR, and ended up being a non-factor. Its good hear his game is coming back to him in the ECHL.

It looks like we were right. MCGRATH ASSIGNED TO TOLEDO January 17, 2007 - GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday reassigned forward Evan McGrath from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the Toledo Storm of the ECHL. The 21-year-old rookie has appeared in 33 games with the Griffins this season, totaling six points (3-3â€â€6) and 23 penalty minutes. His highlights have including netting three assists in a 6-2 win over Philadelphia in his seventh pro game on Oct. 28 and being recalled by the Red Wings on Nov. 17. McGrath was Detroit’s second choice (128th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. During his 2005-06 campaign with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, he finished fifth in league scoring and led his team with career highs of 37 goals, 77 assists and 114 points, earning a spot in the OHL All-Star Game. McGrath will be available to make his Toledo debut on Friday, when the Storm host the Cincinnati Cyclones in a 7:35 p.m. start at the Toledo Sports Arena. http://griffinshockey.com/newsroom/news/?id=7251

Unfortuanetly, I think that is what is going to have to happen.
-
Thank you. PHX isn't going to just trade their Captain away, especially when they're a whopping 5 pts out of a playoff spot. Edit: You know I wouldn't even be suprised if all the 'yotes trading was just to free up enough cap room to re-sign Doan. I can't imagine they would let him get away without putting up much of a fight.

Quincey and Meech are normally paired together. The two of them definately have a good "chemistry". They warm up with each other, and normally the last ones off the ice. I wouldn't say that Meech is the better D-man between Quincey and Ericsson, but he's definately the more disciplined one. He doesn't take alot of dumb penalties, and he has done a pretty good job of breaking up some odd man rushes. He is definately deserving of an all-star appearance. Quincey plays a real physical game, and that has put him in the penalty box. Ericsson is having a good rookie season, but he is a rookie. He plays his position really well, and is really hard on himself. He had a pretty good game one night, but then in a radio invterview made a couple comments about how he made mistakes, etc. All three of them have HUGE potential. I'd say these are normally the pairings. Meech - Quincey Ericsson - Norton Syvret - Insana
-
How 'bout Liv? He started the win streak off with a shutout. Now he is continuing the winning while Howard is nursing a sprained ankle.
-
Most of them went for right around the $300 mark. Which I think speaks for the appearance of the jerseys. Even Bootlands was $310 or so. Hussey was the big one, going for a whopping $600. We watched the auction, but this is the first one in a while that we didnt end up buying one.

I dont know.. I think the tye-dye jerseys were the ugliest Griffin jersey I've ever seen, but this was definately #2. I am waiting for the "back in black" jersey..that has some potential. The worst jersey ever, has to go to Milwaukee, IMO. Edit: Deleted the pic, because it wasn't working anymore.

Was that sarcasm? After Roenick walking out on the team the other day, he SHOULD ride the bench.
-
I'm glad to see him go. And Kolanos ended up in Switzerland. How's that for kicking him outta North America.
-
I never knew he got injured..I wonder how that happened....do you know?
-
The last I heard, Kolanos is apparently "done", because of this supposed attitude thing. So if the rumors are true, he wont be back. I think Norton was just a healthy scratch...I thought I spotted him last night with some of the other scratched players...I'm not sure...I sure would have loved to have had Norton on the ice to end the game..give Larose or whatever his name was the beating of a life time....
-
It sounds like he was a great player, back in the day. But he doesn't have the legs to play in this new style of hockey. He cost the Griffins last year, in more games than he should have. He got beat, repeatedly. It got to the point when he was on the ice, I'd be crossing my fingers, hoping he made it back to the bench without screwing up. he was the last thing the team needed last year, on the ice. I dont know how great of a leader he was in the locker room, so I'm not commenting on that side of things.
-
I dont consider missing Liv a bad thing. Bootland has been MIA for pretty much the entire season. Most people thought not making the wings would have made him work harder, but I guess not. I will give you missing Mcgrath hurt us, and I'm not sure about Norton yet. This team just needs to start playing like a team...and maybe kill a PP, or two. I just really, really, really do not want to see Chicago beat us... The arena better be loud on Friday.

And losing to the Wolves 2 straight games is unacceptable.
