Yea, I agree with that article. His turnovers just cost him. It's been that way for the whole team.

Our offense isn't scoring, which doesn't get you far. We had two four goal games back to back, and we lost them both. We really can't score though, and those games aren't characteristic. Our defense is improving, but we have way to many turnovers. The first pass isn't connecting, which leads to turnovers, and the opposition is able to beat the goalie for a quick one. Toughness is another HUGE concern. This is the BIGGEST team we've had in a while, and yet we're playing like a bunch of pansies. We are being outhit almost every night. The coach is scratching Keefe (and now Clark) in situations where you need to have a tough guy in the line up. With the news of Ference being done for the year (he needs surgery on his wrist) our team toughness is going to drop like crazy. Last game Quincey and Tardiff had to be the guys defending us...and if you know them, that is NOT their role. This team just really needs to develop some sort of scoring touch (and maybe an actual Captain, instead of this revolving C stuff). As we are playing now, we'll be on the outside looking in come playoff time. It's time to kick out Stothers, and just let Paek do the head coach work until next year.

I think Kindl has improved a TON since he started this year. He was slow, and out of place all the time. He's being more "sound" defensively. He needs to figure out how to shoot on the PP, but that comes with experience I guess. This team is just not good, so the players stats are going to be worse. Look at Meech. He's played in like 4 or 5 games for us since being sent down, and last I checked he was a negative 5 or so. Kindl, Quincey, and Ericcsson are all improving greatly in the last month or more of the season. Shame the team can't score.

That's funny. Keefe has, IMO, zero shot at going to DET. He is lucky to be playing in GR. He has got into the Wings "doghouse" with his loose cannon behavior. More than once he has tried to take on the entire bench of the other team. He's been playing alittle more recently, but he is definitely on a short leash. The pickings are very, very short in GR this year. Gelech is good, Ritola has promise. Helm is doing REALLY well, and if he could get more strength and conditioning in, he will be NHL material relatively quickly.

Syracuse would be another great one. They have been gooning it up lately, and been given warnings from the AHL.
-
He is definitely improving. His start was horrible, but he is coming around.
-
Not real well. Carroll got sent down with out even playing in one game. Clark has played in a handful of games, and has got into one fight ( I believe). He's shooting a blank in points, and is in the negatives.
-
Yea, he seems to really throw down when he is willing. It's a shame he doesn't do it more often.

Here is a video to the fight, including his hit to start the whole thing. http://youtube.com/watch?v=54jmik941tk Here is a bonus clip of the Rockford guy getting kicked out of the game after an incident with the fan. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6MJITgtQ6g0&feature=related

Yea, he's been horrible at times. He is slowly getting better, so he will probably turn that number around.
-
Well for being called up, he played a good game.
-
Oh you can diss insana all you want. I don't like him in a Griffin uniform.
-
If memory serves, he's been paired with Insana. Insana is a "veteran" which should be teaching Kindl. He's just been making to many mistakes. The mistakes are coming back to haunt the team, so EVERYONE needs to be careful. Turnovers are sinking this team.

I didn't think that this would be a championship team

That's saying he is going to clear waivers. Why try and get him to clear, and potentially lose him for nothing? -

Yes, it is a surprise. The Hockey News, and other sites put the Griffs in the top 5 (even contending the for the cup). They have a solid group of guys, they shouldn't be getting pushed around. They're just taking dumb penalties, are out of position, Jimmy is in a "slump". They have no leader, to get them to put their butts in gear. Coach Stothers is looking pretty bad at the moment, because he is the only one to really blame. The wings were so high on him, yet he isn't doing jack. He doesn't challenge the refs when they make a bad call, he doesn't say anything in post game interviews that 95% of the coaches would. He is doing nothing in the media to get the team fired up, or anything to repair a broken team confidence. I'm getting dangerously close to throwing him under the bus, and the wings for pretty much only interviewing him. It was a BIG mistake. This team shouldn't be under .500, and shouldn't be out of the playoffs. They are a couple good bounces away from turning it around, they need to get Jimmy a win that he can use as motivation. Cullen, Staford or Hartigan needs to step up and take the C. Enough with this rotating "c" crap. Hartigan has been very impressive lately. Galvin and Insana have as well. Other than that one game I've thought Keefe has a been big. He's hit eveything and just filled his role. We have some good players but they just cant seem to get this going.... I'm definitely sticking with it, but something has to give. -
Yeah, you have nothing to worry about. I've worn my 'yote jersey to the joe, and never once got even the slightest "ribbing". Hopefully, I atleast get some in December.
-
Here's my guess. Himelfarb was quick, but his speed got him no where. He could rush down the ice, beat everyone, then he would lose control of the puck. He would make a move and lose the puck, hell, he would try to slow down and lose the puck. It was finally time to let him go, he wasn't learning.
-
He was pursued into the fight.... for sure. IMO, he didn't want to go, but did because the other guy was going to make an issue of it.
-
Ericsson pretty much hugged his way through it. He took a couple punches, but kept him close until the linesmen broke it up.
-
Very good point. He is caught out of position 80% of the time. I don't know what has changed since last spring, when he was kicking butt in the AHL...but something did. He looks out of place right now.

At the game last night, they announced that the deal was agree'd to in principle. They didn't announce any details, but hey, we'll still be the primary affiliates of the Detroit Red Wings!
-
You know, I'd love to be able to say why the team sucks at home. They're coming out flat, their passes aren't connecting. Certain players aren't living up the hype (Kindl), or aren't playing like they did last year (Ericsson). We have to many turnovers in our defensive end, and there is no real "passion". On the road, listening on the radio, it seems like the exact opposite. It's enough to drive me nuts. Edit: Spelling.
-
He did look alittle better the second game at home, but he still looked really slow. The only way you could give him the benefit of the doubt would be saying he wasn't trying in GR because he wanted to be in Detroit. He was with out question one of the slowest we have. He wouldn't stick handle to save his life, he'd just pass it as soon as he got it, which messed the team up several times...Maybe it will all turn around for him, but I'd vote to send him back to Russia.

Tellqvist a star of the game, and Zetterberg not? Am I missing somethi
Coyote0106 replied to Cheli24's topic in General
They just needed to throw the dogs a bone.... the Griffins got blown out at home, and they got a star, same deal. Its just a way to make the home team feel like they atleast had one decent player. -
^^ Great post. That summed up what I saw perfectly.
