Since he can't play hockey, and enforcing clearly is ineffective, I think he's found his true calling, instead of a 5 minute major, send the dirty players for seven minutes of heaven with McGratton and we'll see cheap shots disappear! -

To be fair, the topic is often brought up, it's relevant, and Kip's criticisms are typically far more constructive than the pro fighting crowd. It's an important discussion and certainly has as much merit as the constant paper thin goalie bashing rhetoric that's tossed around like parade candy. -

Other than being prone to defensive mistakes, when we lose it looks likes there is no effort, I rarley feel like a game was lost that should've been won. When they play hard, good things happen.

3 on 3 is not entirely gimmicky, as it can happen during the course of natural events in a game. If they wanted a similar situation for shootouts they'd have to let a defenseman chase down the shooter.

Holmstrom was definitely better at some things than Helm, but Helm is a much better skater and creates a lot of chances with his speed in the same way Holmstrom did with his size. It just comes down to what you want the makeup of the line to look like. I have a soft spot for Holmstrom because I feel his net front presence led to a lot of goals he didn't get credit for, but someone may be able to make a similar argument for Helm. I'm not an authority on the matter.
