Most points from a defenseman on this team is not a great measuring stick. If the wings are going to be contenders the defense needs to improve (as a whole I believe) on transitioning to the offensive zone. I like Smith a lot and he may get there, he is still young.

Although Boston is appearing less and less like a top tier team. Definitely Anaheim, Montreal and Pitt though, and I suspect Boston will improve.

That's not what I thought you meant, everybody on that fourth line is on the team. But I still think replacing Nesty and leaving the fourth line alone is better but I dont know what's available.

I'll echo the sentiments that zone entries are an issue and add that while the drop pass technique is great if you're not moving the other teams defense it's not going to work. The team on the PK is lining up on the blue line and holding their ground. They need to come in with more speed and force the PKers to have to adjust. I was watching it on a small laptop screen so correct me if I'm wrong, but they seemed to just be floating into the zone and Montreal would collapse on the puck.

Not to take anything away from Bowman because I think he was the greatest coach of all time, but Babcock's likely facing different challenges and it's hard to compare. Besides, he has 3 finals appearances and one cup in a little over a decade, that's not bad.
