Agree, not everyone can be Larionov, play chess and speak 5 languages. Sometimes you're Brendan Smith, P is for puck, and that's good enough for him.

Isn't that what Babcock is saying though? Up until now he's given the jobs to the veterans, this training camp he's giving it to the best player. This being the first season with this philosophy, he's hardly had a chance to go back on it.

He's a bad example because we're talking about Ville Leino, but look what Steve Yzerman had to do to help the Wings become a contender. It is always more difficult to win with one dimensional players.

I think we're talking about two different things. I'm saying it doesn't work because hockey is a two way game. Obviously you can just score goals, hundreds of players have done that, that's clearly not the point. Players like Ovie can get away with doing it but if it worked the Caps would be a lot better.

I've played around with different length sticks and different curves but have come to the conclusion I'm just not good enough for it to make a difference. I went from playing 3-4 nights a week (2 ice, 2 roller) in the adult leagues in Columbus, OH to playing never (had a baby in January.) Im worried I'm going to be even worse when I resume. I'm 33 and past my prime! Though my knees are better than Cleary's it's all in my hands.

If those men were playing in today's game with increased speed and size they'd be strapping on those helmets faster than you can turn Frazen into a girls name. Besides, there were undoubtedly what you refer to as "sissies" then too, we just don't know everything about every player 50 years ago. -

The answer is, lose the shootout, keep the tie but award no points. Points only to winning teams, teams would fight hard to win. No gimmicks. -

Completely different situations, Legwand does not make us better. Holland clearly addressed our need on defense, it just didn't work out and sometimes the best move is no move.
