There are eight teams below the Wings in the standings, but only three points across that spread. Chicago is the only team with more games played than Detroit. The standings could look very different come the first of January.

I hope Nyquist isn’t traded. He’s fun to watch and his only weakness is disappearing in the playoffs which is irrelevant now.

Great work by Ras to keep the puck moving even after he was knocked down. The character we drafted him for is paying dividends.

I appreciate it, I don’t often have time to watch games but I always follow the GDTs for the updates and of course, second to none commentary.

I’ve been here 13 years and have less than 800 posts, I have a lot of catching up to do.

It certainly makes me wonder about the early reputation given to Blashill.

The Wings likely couldn’t beat the Leafs in a best of four situation, but I can’t think of anything to really be upset with here unless the expectation is to already be a contender. The team is going to make mistakes but if the players that need to improve are improving the view from the bottom won’t be too familiar. Cholowski is a good example, he hasn’t been putting up points, but against good teams he’s learning and making good decisions that will benefit the team in the future. Plus...win or lose these games are fun.

This team is an absolute blast to watch.

When you sign contracts that last many years it becomes increasingly necessary to anticipate production, more than it does in other professions.

It was mostly a bunch of guys sitting around a smoke filled room bragging about how they’d been fans since the 40’s.

I think Blashill is such a bad coach he doesn’t even know how to tank properly. This team appears so disheveled sometimes you could believe they’ve never played a game together before, but between Howard and the work ethic of Larkin and, well really many of the guys, it’s going to be difficult to occupy the bottom of the standings.

It’s still pinned...who’s in charge here? The loyalty given to these old threads while we try move this forum forward is slowing us down and using unnecessary space. If anyone knows any recently unemployed moderators who used to be a big deal around here maybe we can pine over them for a while.

I have had very limited exposure to the games, (I’ve watched four this year and maybe 10 last year), but my initial response was that Dekeyser is a downgrade from Ericsson. Am I overvaluing Ericsson?

The former reason is not a sufficient criteria for dismissal and the latter is non sensical in your proposed application. Statistical analysis does not soley operate as the contextualization of significant events in relation to non significant events, you are limiting your scope and the resulting information retrieval will suffer.

That makes sense, and I assume Larkin will get a taste of the role during his rotation.

Does this mean Kronwall didn’t want Captain or wasn’t offered it? I thought he’d make a good stop gap Captain for a year or two until Larkin was prepared.
