Wow, this sopcast is great.... if you like a worthless channel that isn't even online. F*ck.

    Tonights Wings Game...Minus 30 Minutes!

Wait a second! I have CI as well through DirecTV and I haven't seen ANY of the Wings' playoff games broadcast on antyhing other than Vs. or NBC. Are you telling me that you saw the FSN-D feed for the playoffs? I keep checking the guide and haven't seen Detroit listed once, whereas nearly every other team has had their stuff on the Ci channels in the 770's. WTF?!?! Jeff in Houston

WQF Game 3 (4/14) GDT: Predators 5, Red Wings 3

Sure they have... though it was from the clubhouse at the 19th hole. Piss poor defensive effort for the most part. Dom's doing ok, but not great. And I'm not talking about letting in those goals. He just looks a little shaky... starting with that first shot on net that Radishballs almost got past him. Anyway, let's hope the Wings step it up and buckle down here in the 4rd. GO WINGS GO!

WQF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 2

Still alive and kickin' and happy to say that despite feeling like my heart could jump out of my chest at any point, no shocks were felt. To be honest, the sucker in my chest is really just a "emergency" type thing. They found this heart conditon in me when I was 13. It's the stuff that kills the kids on the football/soccer/etc... field/court/ice. I've now had it for 22 years. There's no expectation that it WILL ever go off, but it's peace of mind that it's in there if ever I should need it. I'm just itchin to get back in the gym because 3 months without the weight room is going to drive me batty. You can only do cardio 5 days a week for so lon, you know. Anyway, back on topic. Helluva game by the boys. VERY exciting, but I honestly prefer 8-0 blowouts by our boys. Thanks for asking about me, Jeff

WQF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Predators 2

Well, that thoroughly gave my heart a lovely workout. I just had a defibrillator/pacemaker inserted in my chest at the end of February. Perhaps I should have mentioned that I was a hockey fan to the ol' doc in addition to telling him how much I workout and stuff? Good Lord, this is going to kill me.

Hooking. Holding. Mugging. Looks like same ol' same ol' for the league who changes the rules from the regular season to the post season.

    Kopecky Might be Hurt

A-friggin-men, dude. Abdelkader was on fire last night. I really was pulling for D-mac to show flashes of what he once was, but for all intents and purposes, he was invisible in the chances he was given. It's a shame, but the facts are that Abby looked real good for his first game out there. Regs, Jeff

I'd prefer "in front of the barrel with the trigger pulled", but I take your meaning. 'round these parts we call what should happen to them, "givin' 'em the Ol' Yeller". Y'all come back now, y'hear? Wyatt Jeff

Vesa Toskala just got scored on from 197'

Ditto. Bad bounced gave me lots of shiners, bloody noses and a sore groin once or twice after taking a bad hop into the cup. But again, as someone said... if you get IN FRONT OF THE PUCK/BALL/THING FLYING AT YOU, you keep the damn thing in front of you. It's taught to every sports playing kid from the time they can put on a glove. Body in front = contain the object in play. Body out of the way, hoping that the glove will magically always be there = guaranteed letdown at some point in time. Anyway, I feel bad for him either way. And I thank my lucky stars every day that I'm not a Toronto fan. Regs, Jeff

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

Tickling the back of Brian and Chris' throats, of course! Horrid hypocrisy for the league, yet again. Much like the rest of the world we live in here in the States, there are two different sets of rules. One for the "elite" and one for the rest. God help you if you aren't on the first list. F Pronger. F Burke. F Campbell and F Bettman for making a mockery of this league I used to love.

    Rangers/Flyers game

I'm surprised you even got that much out of that interim suck-off for Pronger and the other friggin trogs of the NHL. All I could hear was *slurp slurp slurp Pronger slurp swallow gag Burroughs slurp gag swallow I was his first coach and made him the player he is today slurp money shot lick lick slurp* As if I needed one more reason to think Maguire was the biggest cock gobbler in the NHL... here he proves it again. How can ANY fan of the game condone what Pronger does. They even pointed out he doesn't fight... he looks to injure... it IS illegal... and he's an ASSET to the GAME????? WTF? Jeff in Houston

    Brian Burke Says Something Smart

Well, the thing is, it's not our goal scorers who are hurt. If ZDH isn't getting it done... who do we rely on, healthy or not? The short answer used to be Cleary and Flip... but one's down for the count and the other is cold as ice. If we only have 5 total guys who can score as a forward, does that not point out an issue? Jeff

    Brian Burke Says Something Smart

I don't agree at all, unless the timeframe were changed. I don't think we should be freaking out and reacting with deals in response to what SJ or Colorado has done on D-day. What I DO think should have been done is REACT with regards to the huge numbers of injuries and holes we have seen due to lack of scoring. Yes, if our D heals, then we are in pretty decent shape, sans a big hitter. That being said, ZDH can't get it done ALL the time. We need someone else to put the damn puck in the opposing team's goal. The last 10 games, that has be severely lacking. Yes, losing Clearly hurts in regards to that. But was he our ONLY 2nd-tier scorer? If so, does that not point out a glaring hole we need to react to? No Draper tonight? That sucks from a faceoff standpoint. From a scoring standpoint, I think Hartigan is an upgrade. Huds disappeared. Flip is somewhat off the radar as well. Malts, Sammy, Downey, Franzen... these guys are not normal names on the score sheet. If we don't react today... we don't react at all for 2007-2008. More drama and angst to come. But I won't hold my breath on a Hossa or Jokinen heading here. Jeff

    The 2008 Trade Deadline Thread

So maybe still Stuart is out there. Other than that, I think we scratch Hossa off the "possibles" list. I just don't see it happening. Like I said, I see Kenny doing something like a Kilger or someone we haven't heard of in years in terms of any trades or deals coming our way.

Not true... Holland is still trying to decide on what kind of sammich he wants, meanwhile the rest of the housemates are cleaning out the fridge and eating everything in sight. Looks like Kenny will be left with whatever he can find under the fridge. Really pretty sad at this point. So many holes in the current team, and no ability to fill them Jeff

The Official "Pierre McGuire's a Jerk" Thread.

Yep, like Fromunda Cheese. No doubt about it.... he's a talking penis, but he does have some legit points. I don't see Hossa coming to Detroit, and I'm not sure anyone else out there can solve the scoring issues that continue to plague us. Face it, yes, our D is young and inexperienced as they hit the ice today, but they aren't the ones causing us to lose 1-0. If you can't score, you can't win... even in today's Nu-NHL. Dallas looks to be my new favorite in the West... though Anaheim is a close second. The Detroit of February 2008 is in shambles and are, in talking-penis' words, "in alot of trouble". Frick.
  21. Brad Richards and Johan Holmquist -> Dallas Mike Smith, Jussi Jokinen and Jeff Halpern -> TB Jeff
  22. It's official. Richards is a Star now. No details on what goes the other way, but most likely Mike Smith will head that way. Jeff

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

I just can't friggin believe we got saddled with the mouth breathing troglodytes that ref'd last night's game again. Clearly the first period proves that they didn't make their eye appointment this afternoon... or if they did, they're still wearing Canadian team tinted contacts. That being said, nice hustle shown by the boys thus far. They are taking it to the kids on the blueline, but so far, no harm... no foul. Lilja continues to be the asshat... errr asset he has always seemed to be. He needs to beat the piss out of Cooke so that he can even out his "I suck... I rule" karmic nature. C'mon Wings... let's see some 'nucks lying on the ice instead of our boys. Of course, that will just mean suspensions for us and a "stern talking to" for the opposition. Frick.

    The 2008 Trade Deadline Thread

I just got a flashback to my old team on NHL2001 or so where I put Salei on the Wings at D with Lidstrom and took the team to the Stanley Cup. I think I had Mike Gartner on the team with Martin Rucinsky too. I'm guessing Gartner's probably note available in real life now, though.

Yikes. Meech threw it into the middle of the ice at the blue line. Ozzy snagged it though.
