Nope, at least not me, personally. Same deal with CBJ. They WANT to be our rivals, but c'mon... it isn't going to happen. And I don't buy them trying to use the OSU vs. *gag* UofM argument, either. It's silly. I'm a huge Buckeye fan AND a huge Red Wings fan. I don't hate The Spartans because the Wolverines happen to be in the same state. There's no rhyme or reason to rivalries without ALOT of history/backstory. The only backstory at this point for Nashville is that "hey, isn't that where Fischer had the heart issue and almost died which forced him out of the league?" Nashville didn't cause that. Now, if they somehow had... like maybe Fish looked directly into the eyes of Tootoo (around knee level for Fish), and the little gremlin's putrid face caused his heart to stop, but I doubt it. Anyway... no offence, but I don't see Nashville ever becoming a real rival. Besides, every other team in the league wants to call us their rival. It's stupid. It diminishes the term, itself. I second the Westin Book Cadillac. My wife sent me and my buddy there in October to catch two Wings games for our 10th Wedding Anniversary... yes, that's right... my wife paid for me to LEAVE TOWN for four days for our anniversary. Now you know why I married her. Anyway, very nice hotel. Walking distance to Greektown where there are a TON of restaurants. Walking distance to The Joe. Might be a tad more difficult if it's snowing... it was in the 50's when I was there, so a light jacket, at most. Anyway, it's not cheap by any means, but very NICE. Hockeytown Cafe was also walking distance (but disappointing in food and memorabilia). I recommend eating at Acropolis and Pizza Papalis in Greektown. Best gyros and meat lovers pizza I've ever had. AWESOME! The Westin also has an attached restaurant, "Roast", run by one of the Food Network Iron Chefs, I seem to recall. Hoity toity place if you want to get dressed up for din din and wine and dine the girl, but prepare to spend a fortune. It's smoky as hell, since I think Detroit must single-handedly keep the cigarette industry in business, but the beers were cold and the dude playing guitar was good and fun too.

So pardon my ignorance on the topic, as I've only been a Wings fan since '94 or so when I caught my first NHL game on tv and they happened to be playing, but did the "Dead Things" of the 80's look worse than this? I'm not sure how that could be possible. 7 shots on goal in a period... all of them about as dangerous as a marshmallow, lack of defensive coverage, poor goaltending, no checking worth speaking of, no forecheck, no backcheck. Did the "Dead Things" lose every game 12-0 or what? Anyway... this season is pretty much circling the bowl. These days I barely get excited on game day. It's really somewhat depressing. C'mon boys! PLEASE TURN IT ON!!!

Memo to TIVO: Thank you VERY much for the amazing feature of fast forward. This way, once I saw the abortion that was this game unfolding when it became 3-1, I could just zoom through the remainder of the game and watch EDM score again and then just watch the clock piss away until the end of the game in the blink of an eye. No analysis. No excuses. No BS. Just pure suck. So much for Howard looking like a winner and gaining confidence. How the hell he missed that third goal, I'll never know. Nillson made everyone look stupid on the second goal. Lebda solidified his position on the Altar Of s***dom with the first goal. I never saw the fourth goal, and I'm probably glad. This team just makes me want to watch the movie "7even"... since it's a feel good movie compared to what I'm witnessing on the ice most nights this season. If the Devils look as bad as they did last night against the 'nucks, we're sure to lose by 10. If they look as good as they have all year, we'll only lose by 1. Probably 1-0, since we've got all the game of Steve Urkel these days. *sigh* *$#@!

I'll be honest, gang... my confidence as a fan is in the pooper right now. I've never been a believer in being able to play yourself out of a hole. Just look at the Lions the last 10-15 years. That being said, it was nice to have Homer net a PP goal. Other than that, the Blues look to have more jump most of this game. We have the odd flash here and there, but it looks like the Blues had last night off and we had to play (other than the thricing (three icings) that occurred in the second period. I'd like to hope that the Wings can pull out a win tonight, but my faith is in the crapper. The Hockey Gods are just pissed at the Winged Wheel right now. Later, Jeff
