Ha ha, well there you go Exactly. The Wings can beat anybody...the other team doesn't worry me. What worries me is if the Wings beat themselves. I know they are capable of crushing any opponent at their will, they just have to go out and do it. I have faith that that will play to the best of their abilities and it will be some VERY entertaining hockey. And if they go down, I'll be okay as long as they gave it their all.

Bertuzzi & Calder acquisitions = 2 thumbs WAY up And think about when Bertuzzi starts REALLY clicking with the lines. Wow, he's coming off injury doing THIS well..awesome. Then we have lil Jiri Hudler who is doing all kinds of damage, and Pavel Datsyuk tearing it up and down the ice. Throw in a healthy Zetterberg, and that is one sweet team.

Ha Ha, I know you'd still love them. They would go 0-82 and every game you'd be like, "They can win it!!!! sakdfkdjfkwsdjh~!" But, I get that hopeless negativism gets you nowhere...though, this thread is sort of a trap that way isn't it? You're either a homer or a downer...right? I won't go either way, because I think it's a jinx to predict a good turnout, and a bummer to predict a bad turnout.

I don't agree. Even if the Wings weren't making the playoffs I'd still watch and cheer like crazy because I love the team. I mean, I'm not going to predict failure, and I'm cautious to predict success (being superstitious at all) but I'm definitely optimistic about this team. I think any team can win it. But I also know that only 1 of 30 teams DO win it every year. There are lots of good teams out there, and I've seen it too many times that one bump along the way will knock you out. So, while I do like to see optimism, I can totally understand why someone who thinks we are going to maybe not do so well, can still cheer the team. Anywho, maybe it's their way of an anti-jinx. 8 teams will exit in round 1. Sure everyone WANTS their team to go on, but the odds are against all but 1. Personally, I think the Wings have what it takes, but even so...anything could happen...injuries, hot goaltending, etc. and even the best laid plans go awry. I'm willing to bet that there's doubt in everyone's mind as to whether we'll get past round 1, it just depends on who admits it or not (if not why'd I see all these '1 round is not enough avatars' ha ha). But do be positive folks, either way we have a great team that's always been my biggest problem as a Red Wing fan. Sure, I want to win the Cup, but I can ACKNOWLEDGE that we have a good team whether or not we win every year. WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM!

The Cup is there for anyone who is healthy and hungry enough to take it. I hope that's us this year!

The Blues go through goaltenders like Kleenex. Probably 'B' had a lucky game. So many fluke goalies have a great game or even a great season and are touted as the next great thing...but it is not to be.

Shhh, it's my secret identity Yeah, and you know (because we discuss this bi-weekly here ) that most of the arena is corporate. You can hear a pindrop half the time anymore...but they can all get together to boo? What has happened to this team? What has happened to the positive atmosphere...seriously? The whole arena can't say "Let's Go Red Wings" or "Oz-zie Oz-zie" but they sure can find their voices to boo. And I don't even belive that half of them care anymore...they are just sheep. Yeah, it bothers me more because Fedorov is my favorite player, but I wouldn't like it if we boo'ed any of our players. It's not in me to 'not care' when I think that the wrong call has been made...but rest assured, as much as it annoys me that it sill happens (and really, truely did bother me at first) I didn't get half as mad as most of the crap I've seen spewed in this thread. QFT No one has even said RATHER than a Wing. Everyone basically said that if a player had to score...glad it was Feds. You are just a hate filled person and that's why you like that Fedorov gets booed. I've noticed that a lot of people who are pro-booing are just spewing out hate and anger and cussing and just mean. It makes a lot of sense. So I'm glad I understand now. You can't make an actual point so you just name call...really intelligent. You are right though, I'm hoping Red Wings fans will be above that, and a lot of the good ones are. I can't dictate what the bad fans do though *shrug*. Join the Bertuzzi love fest! I didn't get to see a lot of the game because I was at work, but I was really happy that 1) Huddles scored 2) Bert played awesomely from all I heard, and that at least we came back to tie it. Unfortunately it didn't come out for us...we really need to learn how to win in OT.

You just pretty much insulted everyone who's posted in this thread on either side, (including yourself) while pretty much doing what you are critisising others for doing...posting on this matter. You just responded. What is the point of responding to a topic to say that no one needs to respond to it? It bothers Fedorov still because for some reason he still cares about this city. It bothers me because it's so embarassing and I'm actually at the games and it's very annoying, and not very Red Wing like. Ha! People named Bertuzzi shouldn't throw stones.

Legace wasn't that good. No one was. Only Zetterberg. We wouldn't have gotten past Edmonton unless someone could actually scored. It was totally different from the regular season. All season we scored a ton of goals and that's how we won, how did we not think that's what we had to do in the playoffs?

I feel so enlightened after reading all of this. I always thought that 'real' Red Wing fans would be above this. But why did I think this? No one was above making Fedorov the scapegoat when he was on the team. Why would everyone decide to like him now. Do you want to know why Fedorov is really booed? Because people CAN now. They wanted to when he was on the team and now they can. It's simply mean spiritedness. I don't really buy that people are still 'hurt' and they are getting out their feelings about Sergei. Maybe a very few people, but most people who actually liked him as a player still like him as a player. For everyone who thinks that you can't root for anyone on other team other than the Red Wings and be a Red Wing fan...bite me. I wish I had such a myopic view of life that I could make such black and white decisions like this. Or that I wish that Yzerman or Lidstrom was my favorite player, because, guess what, if Fedorov's number was #5 or #19 he'd have been treated a lot better here. But everyone was looking for him to have some certain quality that they'd imagine Sergei Fedorov should have and so labeled him accordingly. And we see the same hatred again, shocking...not at all. Is Sergei disappointed that he's not a Red Wing now? I don't know. Probably, because I honestly think he loves the city and the fans. But maybe not. He's actually appreciated where he is now. People think that he regrets where he is now, but you don't know that. People think they *KNOW* why he left, but you don't know. Most of you maybe don't know what it's like to lose your favorite player to another team, but I've lost both of mine, and it's amazing to see how much BETTER they are treated in different cities. Does that make being a Red Wing fans better? Because we are mean, and hateful, and unforgiving? I guess if that's what being a Red Wing fan is about...I don't really want to be that kind. It's just a label...it's stupid. We could put a million qualifiers on what a 'true' fan is. But honestly, I really love the team. I love the players...I want them to win. And when one leaves our ranks...I can't just turn that off. Team first, but a team is made up of people, and to be able to hate them and spit on their accomplishments the moment they change colors is not in the cards for me...like it is for so many others. And even if Fedorov left under the WORST conditions, why boo him? If he is so despicable why bring yourself to that level? Your boos mean nothing because in doing so you bring yourself to a level more classless than what Fedorov did when he left. Setting yourselves up as juries filled with petulant children throwing a temper tantrum. I know that many of you don't boo him, but why defend those who do?

Well, it brings up a very good point. The reason we lose in the playoffs if NOT because of goaltending, it's because they don't score when it counts. They score all year and then it gets warm and no one can score.

I never said that I did cheer for the Blue Jackets, but that I was glad if they had to win that Sergei scored the goal. But you can't just say that if you were to cheer for the Blue Jackets that you are not a Red Wing fan. You can say whatever you want, but it doesn't make it the truth. So I can say that if you boo a former Red Wing that you aren't a true Red Wing fan. Sergei did more than most of the current Red Wings roster. Anyone who boos him is not a true Red Wing fan...he helped us win our last 3 Cups. That blanket statement will surely get some defiance.
