It wasn't that I found the article negative or untrue, because I don't think Ozzie is the #1 reason we're winning. It is just annoying that the angle was to put Ozzie down instead of just saying that other players have been doing well. It was as if he had to make that the point of the article...which is annoying. Goaltending hasn't really been the issue, generally speaking in the past it's been inability to score against hot goaltending that's hurt us. I guess the title and theme just rubbed me the wrong way but the article wasn't bad.

I'm thinking Lilja will be in during the playoffs for size and because he is the pain train. He actually was somewhat beloved for a minute and a half last playoff season. I like Lebda's speed but doubt he'll contribute that way so I'm thinking he'll be the man out unfortunately, because I always think Lilja makes more stupid mistakes.

I think the Red Wings 2008 team is a sinking ship. This trade deadline kind of made me realize it. We have so many injuries. Last year injuries stopped us, I think they will this year too. It's sad because I think our team (even without addition) is fantastic. I think it's good we kept our young talent and now we can acquire some FA's in the offseason and use our money and still have our talent that we didn't waste on a rent-a-player who probably wouldn't make a dent in helping us in the post season because of our other problems. I'm thankful Holland didn't make a dumb trade. I would have loved Fedorov but who knows what happened.

Not being able to score has lost us a lot of playoff runs. We need good playoff scoring. It seems a different type of player is good at scoring in reg. season AND playoffs. I digress. I think Holland made a good decision. I typed at length in another thread. I was mad at first, but I don't think we have a good chance of winning the Cup this year because of too many injuries. I would have said we had the perfect team to win a couple months ago. I don't know if we can get our act together in time though, and who knows who'll be injured next. Why lose good young players for a rent-a-player just to lose becuase of injuries. It was smart imo not to give up too much to get a ridiculous player. I wish he'd have gotten Fedorov but who knows what happened there, you know.

I was mad at Holland, mainly because we didn't get Fedorov. Also because we didn't really get ANYONE and we need scoring. I was at work, being mad, and it occured to me that Holland probably did the right thing. I don't think we'll win the Cup this year. We have too many injuries. I know we'll heal, but some won't 100% or get re-injured...or not get healed in time...and of course....we have 4 rounds of playoffs and the end of the regular season to acquire more injuries. It's possible, but our team is ailing so much that I think that we have a slim chance of getting it all together in time. Why should Holland put all of his eggs into that basket? Risk losing good young players to rent-a-players for a post season that is going to be probably short and disappointing? What is the point. Save your money, save your talent, and get some people in the offseason and try next year. Very smart. I'm not totally writing us off, and I always have faith, but I'm being realistic here, and I think Holland might have actually done the smart thing given our chances. One player...be it Hossa, Fedorov, Ovechkin or Crosby will not solve the problems we have right now. If our team was 100% we could have probably pulled something off and had a good Cup run. That being said...I'm not writing off our team, I think our team is great and if healthy totally positioned to go far. We'll see, but I understand.
