I enjoy your wordplay but not your sentiment. Is 'Floater' just the word we now use to describe everyone we don't really think plays good? I don't get it. EVERYONE in the NHL is a floater now. Shanahan (again I don't want him back, and he doesnt' want to come back) has continued to play well since leaving the Wings, and is our last 50 goals scorer...so I'm not seeing your point on him. Kozlov is not washed up. He might be a 'Floater' whatever that means...but he's still a very skilled player who can do a lot to help out the team, if we got him for a cheap price. Fedorov should not be compared to Robert Lang at all (and I love Lang). Are you kidding me?!? Fedorov does not suck, now. He's playing a defensive role in Columbus and doing a good job. Just because you aren't watching and paying any attention to Columbus doesn't mean that Fedorov isn't doing anything. The one thing that would be BAD about Fedorov returning would be people questioning his motivation...so annoying. He gets the job done, plain and simple, and has never had trouble putting up the numbers in the post season, despite always being critisized for not showing up. Give him a good winger and watch him go. Also, we need someone for the point on our PP. You don't have to want either player on the team though, that's your opinion.

I'm not saying I want Shanny back...because I don't. But let's not kid ourselves on that one. He wouldn't be a detriment to the team. We're not talking about bringing back just any players...we're talking about bringing back Fedorov and Kozlov (Fedorov OR Kozlov, even), and they would help us in the playoffs, no doubt.

I don't want McCarty, Lapointe, or Yzerman back. I really want Fedorov back, and I would certainly also take Kozlov.

I remember Kozzie being let go FOR DOMINIK HASEK. And I remember him then being good on Atlanta. I also remember him being very good in the playoffs, here.

Kozlov WAS cheap...we don't know if he will continue to be so. If he is, I'd totally like to see him back. I don't see why his age really matters as long as he can get it done NOW. Honestly, we have the ability to win NOW...we don't know about 2 or 3 years down the road.

I'm pretty sure that no one is saying to give Fedorov a $6 million contract. The thought is to pick him up at the deadline and then sign him for a lesser contract in the summer.

The only problem I see with getting Kozlov is I can't picture him as a Wing as anything but 13. 13 is my lucky number, you now. So we'd be lucky to have another 13 on the team. And we just need Fedorov back to lift the curse of the Red Wings It's not just picking up ANY players from the past, you guys...these are 2 proven playoff performers...they will be awesome, I know it! It's what we need...that clutch scoring!

I don't agree. Well, I agree to a certain extent, but I don't really think we lost because of size. I don't think that getting size will guarantee that we win, either. To get rid of skilled players just to pick up size is sort of a lateral movement in my opinion.

Yes..here's the facts people...here are the FACTS: 1) Lang is lazy 2) Lang sucks 3) Lang ALWAYS floats 4) Lang NEVER contributes 5) Lang shows NO effort, ever 6) Lang is never physical or Lang is simply a player who's contract is over-inflated because it was made pre-cap, and had an off year.

Lang is bashed, in part because he still has a pre-cap salary. I doubt he'll be making anywhere near that now.

Please stop comparing Fedorov OR Kozlov to McCarty. Other than being ex-Wings they are completely not the same type of players...and McCarty doesn't even reach the edge of either of their talent... especially Fedorov. Getting Fedorov back is NOT like getting McCarty. As far as Shanahan goes, he's already stated he wants to stay in NY.

I love Kozzie but do not be mistaken Fedorov > Kozlov even in present form. Kozlov & Feds (neither for $6million...) Kozlov now, Feds at the deadline. Wow, we will have an awesome playoffs then...! Smyth...NAH...definitely will be overpaid. Drury...not sure...

You know, it'd be interesting... When we got Hasek we lost Ozzie and Kozlov. Now we'd have Ozzie and Kozzie and well, Hasek needs a nickname that rhymes with Ozzie and Kozzie. Interesting, indeed. I have alway lamented the loss of any player who can score a clutch playoff goal. Kozlov fit that bill, many a time!

Bertuzzi is our power forward now...we should get Fedorov to more than fill Lang's spot

Well, clearly, the rest of our team is great...I'm not knocking them, and there are other FA's in the world...BUT...I'd rather have Bert than most other FA's and I do think he will be considerably less than $5 mil, but only time will tell. I'm sure Holland will do the right thing, but I hope the right thing is a re-sign of Bertuzzi because I do think that it would be a gamble that will pay off for Bertuzzi and for the Wings.

I have no confidence in JFH...why should I have any confidence in him...he's not done anything yet.

Don't you think that Smyth is going to be way more expensive than Bert though? Also, we probably won't get him. So if we pass on Bert and then don't get Smyth we will have no one. I'm not against Smyth...just think he'll be expensive.
