See there! I love NHL.com from the future! I saw Iginla and Kipper coming, but I didn't see Cherry
-
We will win tonight because everyone will ban together (for once) and root for Robert Lang. And as we all know Rooting for Bobby Lang = Guaranteed Win!!
-
Okay 2 things: 1. This is the longest span of time EVER between two hockey games...I swear it Can't they put the games closer together??? 2. Any news on lineup changes and such?

If we sent Quincey out there tonight to take out Kipper...you'd SURE AS HELL be angry. "Here Quince...here's your 2 minutes of ice time...now go take someone out" And the OBVIOUSNESS of the play was what made it so bad. You are right, nothing that the league can do would be enough because it could only fall on McLennan, and McLennan was a nonfactor...and that was the WHOLE point -- the PLAN. So, no matter what the league dished out I was pretty much not going to be happy with it. But don't get me wrong. I'm embarrassed by your team more than the NHL. If the NHL doesn't seriously think up a rule change for this sort of thing I will be equally embarrassed by them. Maybe if Someone would show some remorse or something...come out and say it was a horrible thing to do... And so now it's open season on players because the NHL just gave teams a free pass - as long as they use a player who they can afford to lose. What a surprise. ------------------- I do want to add one thing. I don't expect you to *not* root for the Flames. I expect you to support your team. But c'mon admit that was an embarrassment. If Ozzie would have done that (my favorite player, mind you) I would wonder what they heck was in his head, and I'd be mad because that's not what we're about here. I love Bertuzzi. I love him here, but I will not condone what he did. There's a difference between supporting a player/team and condoning a VERY bad decision.

He wasn't injured, but that doesn't change the intent. The BLATENT intent to injure...don't even get me started on all the other attempts to injure up and down the ice the team pulled. I hope the NHL considers revising the rules to make the punishments stiffer. Put it at the league's discretion who sits for the act. Make the $$ assessed to the team higher, and a fine and potential higher suspension on the player. It's completely unfair that you can basically throw in a rogue-timebomb. How would you like it if we put Ozzie in for a few minutes next game and then take out...um...whoever..Iginla, Phaneuf...etc. Just slash him in the knee or something. OR...let's see Kyle Quinceys in the game. Maybe we should have him go take out Kipper...make a REAL difference in the game.? It doesn't sound so nice...does it? It sounds pretty dirty, and it is. That type of crap cannot continue to go on in the NHL.

I don't agree with you, however, you could be right. I guess that's the ultimate problem...it's really not provable. It sure seemed suspicious though. When they PULLED him it was at a suspicious time. Why not after the 5th goal? We were perplexed then. 18 seconds later and BAM! It's downright suspicious, and he WAS fined so the NHL must have suspected something. But since I feel that makes it even more devious...it in turn makes me even more furious. I have no respect for THAT coach anymore. It's a slap on the wrist and you know it. Are you really lamenting the loss off McLennan? Sad about that 125k that's coming out of YOUR pocket? I think not. Exactly what they wanted to happen is happening...slap on the wrist fine and a non-instrumental player sits. The only thing that didn't work out is that our player isn't seriously injured. Which...don't get me wrong...I'm very thankful for. The intention is what pisses me off. Even with all the suckerpucnching/crosschecking bs I saw all game at least some of that was in the heat of the moment. This was premeditated.

Honestly, I think the worst thing is what McLennan/Playfair got away with -- and they DID get away with it. To send someone out to injure players -- no matter who the player is -- is unexcusable. The league did not send a strong enough message on that one. It just encourages other teams to throw out disposable players as kamakazi weapons. I guess there's no real thing they could have done in the rules that would have been satisfactory...but I hope they look at this after the season is done, and think about some kind of rule change. And that is why I, for one, am still very annoyed with the whole thing.

It's okay. I wasn't offended. I usually don't even correct people..and get it a lot. I guess I was feeling saucy. ------ Ozzie PWNS Roy -- classic

Couldn't tell if you were on my side or against me, so I didn't respond. and 'she'

Oh, you are so right. i will have to bring that back for the game. Root for Lang = Guaranteed Win!! My ava and sig update after every WIN...so I had to put them up after we kicked the asses of the Calgary Flames the other night. Sig = Updated to 3rd game Ava = A storm is now a brewin' ! Do you know how many sigs and avys I actually have? Probably 100's. I have quite a few Lang ones if you must know. PS. Did you think I gave up on Lang? He was really good on the faceoff last game. And I'm not some FAIR weather fan.

I meant it to be witty...but yeah, it does sound dirty
-
As Wing fans...we are inclined to whine. And for once it's at someone other than their own team. Let's keep that focused anger at the Flames! Keep it up, Red Wing fans!
-
I thought it was just the new "Thinking angry thoughts about a Calgary Player" Penalty. We seem to be getting a lot of those, because we've certainly not DONE anything enough to warrant the amount of penalties we've taken.

Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6
Offsides replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
I don't care, whatever, it's what we all thought. It'll be nice to see all their faces when they lose. I usually feel bad for the losing team but not this time. -

Wow this is SO surprising... /sarcasm -
Wow, I wasn't sure he could do much of anything at this point...thanks for clarifying. Iginla can kick some people's asses, perhaps, but there are people who can kick his ass.

A Bert in the hand is worth two in the bush.
-
I dunno. It's certainly not ALL fans, but I saw tons of them, most that I read, defending what McClennan did -- on their own board. I don't post there, but I did check it out.
-
Ha ha, that's awesome! Go Kenny!
-
OH man..losing Lebda sucks. I mean, I could deal with it for a game or two but hopefully he's back soon.
-
UM...what? If you are being soooo truthful, why didn't you tell it like it is? It was a crappy thing to go out and do. Oh, I see, because part of YOUR gameplan is to take out as many players as you can so you can have an easier job next game...that's really what you were concerned about. Nice try.
-
I was up at 6. That's pretty bad!
-
I'm really hopping Kipper doesn't 'pay' anymore than the 6 or so goals I undoubtedly hope we score on him. I also hope that the Flames don't get overzealous and try to run Hasek. Oh that will make me really mad This game better be officiated better.

Should Sergei Fedorov's number be retired in the future?
Offsides replied to Chaldean's topic in General
Fedorov deserves to have his number retired here for innumerable reasons, but I doubt it will ever happen. He is second all time in Red Wing playoffs points, 4th in all time scoring, with 3 Cups, a Hart Trophy, 2 Selkes, and on and on and on. He's one of the best Red Wings ever, not just on the team when we won the Cup. Do I think it will happen? no. Next in terms of what they've done for the organization should be Osgood. Next in terms of what they've done for the league, and taking that into consideration would be Shanahan. But I don't think either are that close. -
Maybe that's what we need. We need to bring in our enforcer - Chris 'The Crusher' Osgood - to break some heads and to flip some bad guys. Or better yet. Head to head fight McLennan v. Osgood. Oh, Ozzie would so pummel him.
