    ermmm... New York?

    The Predators have been sold.

okay, offical number is 411. 13,589 is the number that Leipold gave in his letter to season ticket holders. He put out all of the financial stats in that letter, divulged a lot of numbers that were hidden for a long time. Admitted to losses that were a lot higher than any of us originally though (about $70M overall). So I have no reason to doubt his number of 13,589 and the number from the sports council that does their own independant audit that was within 200 away from that (I think they had sais 13,883).

    The Predators have been sold.

no, it's 200. trust me, the Nashville sports council released the official numbers since it's their money (taxpayer money) that would have to buy those tickets. check the attendance numbers for yourself, average attendance was like 15,200. take out 1,400 comps/freebies and you get the 13,800. Whoever is reporting 12,000 is a bit off and probably wants to paint the picture to be as bleak as possible.

    The Predators have been sold.

The press conference with Leipold just finished up about 30 mins ago. The big thing that came out of it was that whenever a franchis is sold, the new owner has to sign off that he cannot move the franchise for at least 7 years as long as there is a lease in place. This is key to preds fans, as long as we average 14,000 paid attendance, then the lease cannot be broken. So, it's up to us. Came close last season but fell short but less than 200. So I think it's entirely possible for the fans here to keep the team in Nashville.

    The Predators have been sold.

sort of. The Seattle Metropolitans played in the PCHA from 1915-1924. They went to the Stanley Cup Finals 3 times, and won the cup in 1917. so, there is history, but not any history that anyone living there could possibly relate to.

    The Predators have been sold.

yeah, i'd say right now most people are thinking it's about an 80% chance that next season is their last in Nashville. Unless attendance is just unreal next season and the fanbase/city really wins over this guy, then we're done for... and the chances of that happening are realistically almost non-existant.

    The Predators have been sold.

too many unknowns at the moment to make any rational thoughts on the matter. For now it's pretty much and i'm sure later after work it will be just can't see the team staying here past next season...

    My idea for NHL Re-Alignment

why is expansion insane? Do you really buy into all of the media jib-jab about how poor the league is doing, and all that gloom and doom from outsiders? The facts are that in the first season after the lockout, which the outside media labeled as a make or break year for several franchises, and the league as a whole. The truth was that the league enjoyed it's highest attendance ever and more importantly, the highest revenue intake ever. Yeah, sounds like a struggling league to me. oh, and this season... the league topped both of those marks again. So not only is expansion viable, but it would be the ultimate F-U to everyone who constantly talks about the sad state of affairs around the NHL. really, it's too bad that fans around the league are so divided about which markets deserve teams and stuff like that, rather than all focusing on making the league as a whole as strong as it can be.

    My idea for NHL Re-Alignment

Here is my idea for re-alignment. Whales Conference Northeast Boston Buffalo Montreal Ottawa Atlantic New York Long Island New Jersey Philadelphia Southwest Los Angeles Anaheim San Jose Phoenix southwest Colorado Dallas Houston St. Louis Campbell Conference Northwest Division: Vancouver Edmonton Calgary Seattle Midwest Minnesota Detroit Chicago Toronto Southeast Tampa Bay Florida Atlanta Carolina Mid-America Washington Nashville Pittsburgh Columbus Schedule... Each team in the other 7 divisions twice (1 home and 1 away) = 56 games Each team in own division 6 times (3 home and 3 away) = 18 Total games = 74 Playoffs... top team in each division gets the top 4 seeds (home ice in at least first round). then the next 4 highest point totals regardless of division are ranked 5-8.

Longest road to a Stanley Cup Finals

I think they should just split everything up like the NFL and MLB does. Instead of having east and west, just mix up the whole darn thing so that every team has to travel all over the whole country on a regular basis. Keep traditional rivalries like the O-6 in one conference. Make some new rivalries. As much as you wonder why Detroit and Toronto rarely play, we wonder why Nashville and Atlanta never play. They could really make some nice divisions/conferences doing things with a little common sense

    Sommet Center

Nashville Arena Naming Rights Don't mean to break in on your playoff party, but there's some pretty big news down this way. The Nashville Arena has a new partner for naming rights. The Sommet Group. The Nashville Arena, Gaylord Entertainment Center, House of the Predators, Barn on Broudway, etc... is now known as the Sommet Center. Now, usually naming rights isn't a huge story. But this particular partener is a big deal for the Predators for a few reasons... 1. Signing a long term naming rights deal reinforces the owner's stance that he is commited to nashville for the long run. 2. Signing a long term naming rights deal would make it more expensive (about $12-15M) for the team to buy out of it's contract to relocate, making relocation a lot less likely. The total they would have to pay right now to leave town would be somewhere around $30M. For a franchise with financial struggles to begin with, to take a hit like that, to move to another shaky hockey town (K.C.) would be moronic. 3. This is the real big one. Sommet Group is a local company that works with small-medium businesses. They provide the "office work" for companies that aren't big enough to build a big office and staff it with people to take care of their business end of things. Sommet does all of that type of boring office stuff for a small business, letting the business focus on their product/service, it's a really cool deal actually. Why that matters, is that everyone knows the Predators biggest ticket issues are with the corporate ticket sales. The Predators just haven't been very succesful getting in the door or making the sale to local businesses to buy season tickets. But with Sommet's plethora of local business connections, having them as a strong business partner is going to be huge. Sommet is going to open a lot of doors that the Predators couldn't get into before. And since we were only about 300+ short on the required minimum attendance last season, and with a push in individual ticket sales during the playoffs, things should settle down here and the whole ticket sales/attendance issue will become a thing of the past!

    LGW Fit Club

...I had a horrible weekend. I went on an 8 hour road trip which obviously included stopping for fast food. McDonalds, Burger King, Sonic, Sonic again and McDonalds again. I guess after a month of not eating that stuff had a bigger affect on me than I thought. I woke up this morning with the worst stomach ache ever and suffered 3 reversals. While this weekend meltdown was a big mistake, if I can take any positives from it, i'd say that I will not be consuming any more of that junk for a long time.

    Nashville keeps Trotz, coaching staff

they were one win away last season. They went to Vince Young too late, Collins was absolutely HORRIBLE in the first three, and VY could have won at least 1 if not 2 of those. the new Punisher movie was great, though I was disturbed when the dude got his face jewlery ripped out. I also loved the old one with Dolf Lundgren though.

btw... Iron Man is the best! along with Batman and Punisher. Basically any Super Hero that doesn't have any real super powers is great in my book.

    Nashville keeps Trotz, coaching staff

i'd rather keep Griffin at Safety and go with Harper and Hill at corner. and yeah Scooter, I thought Terrence should have won. I also thought Jay Mohr was better. I'm thinking that it's just turning into a yearly joke for Rome, but i'm mostly pissed that Vic never called because I think if he had any halfway decent response to Cablinasian he could have easily won the thing. I thought Terrence was the best last year too.

:nonono: :nonono: first I find out that the Titans are moving Griffin to cornerback, so we're stuck with Lamont Thompson at Safety again... then comes word that Trotz is coming back... Then Cablinasian wins the smackoff again... and now it's raining like hell. GREAT DAY!

Update #4 Starting Weight: 222 Last Weigh-in: 214 Current Weight: 213 Target Weight: 190 Target Date: 6/29/07 (the day that I leave for my wedding which is 6/30!!) ----------------------------------------- the last two weeks have been slower for some reason. saturday is the 5k and i've been working out for it. I think i'm building up the muscle in my legs again which is a good thing. I don't have a problem with weighing so much, but it's the distribution of the weight that bothers me. also, I don't know if it's a side effect of eating better and being more active, but this nasty wart that i've had on my thumb is starting to go away.

The OFFICIAL I HATE RON WILSON THREAD...

Count me among the leaders of the pack on Preds fans who want to give Trotz the boot. but yeah, Preds fans pretty much hate Wilson. I think most of it is form the perception of the first series still holding over. In game 1 Preds scored 3 PP goals and won the game, Wilson goes and cries about it after the game, and suddenly for the rest of the series the Preds seemingly can't touch anyone without going to the box. it wasn't anywhere near that this season, but a lot of fans still held a grudge from the first time. then you look at the series this season, Sharks win game 1, and Wilson goes off about the Preds dirty play. Lose game 2 and "No Comment". Nothing wrong with that, actually a great play by Wilson since it worked up all of Nashville into a frenzy. We were waiting for him to go postal in the post game and instead we get "No Comment"... damn

I think Wilson is a whiney piece of crap... but if I were a sharks fan, i'd probably love him for it.

Surprise! Nashville player ejected at Worlds.

okay, finally watched the video (can't watch at work, not even supposed to be on message boards there). I'm pretty speechless after seeing that hit, it was actually worse than I had imagined. I watched and watched, trying to see if there was any kind of explanation along the accidental lines... but I can't see anything. It's just a horrible, horrible play from Weber. He's a big hitter, and i'm sure he was trying to send a message and set the tone, but you can't be pulling crap like that. As for Trotz's role in the Preds dirty rep. I don't think he tells them to go out and play like that, but I do think that he doesn't discourage it or discipline any of the usual suspects for questionable plays.

Surprise! Nashville player ejected at Worlds.

haven't seen the hit yet, or read any of the comments on the Preds boards. So right now, all I can say is that it's a shame that this happened and hopefully after being singled out on the international stage that Shea will learn a lesson from this. He's got a great future ahead of him in the NHL, and it would be a shame if the reputations of Hartnell, Nichol and Tootoo are allowed to influence people's opinions of guys like Radulov and Weber. I'm really hoping that soon, like today or tomorrow, Trotz is let go and we can get a coach in here who won't tolerate the boarderline and blantantly dirty hits. If Hartnell takes a stupid penalty early in the season, then i'd like to see a coach that will sit him for 3-5 games, it might just get him to think about some things and avoid another incident later in the season when it matters more. I'm really hoping that's what this 3 game suspension will do for Weber, hopefully it brings enough humility that next time he can't make a clean hit on someone, he'll keep his elbow down. whenever I have time to watch the video, i'll comment more.

is this what the NHL wants?

i'm pulling for a Wings - Rangers series. Doubt the rangers make it though, but regardless of market size, I really want Detroit to make it so that none of the games are starting at 8-9:00. I really think something that would help marketing is if all the finals games are shown in prime time.
