I can 100% agree with you Grypho. I've been posting here for a while now as an opposing fan. I really hate the Wings with a passion, but this board is great and outside of a handful of regular posters, everyone is great fun to discuss hockey and other topics with. You'll find a lot of newbs who will want to rip on you just because they don't know you, but it's pretty rare. Welcome aboard, stick around and have some fun!

how nice of you to leave out that the preds spend just about the entire second period of all those games killing penalties... if they could have stayed out of the box, they would have won. And if the Wings can score early, then they will have no trouble beating the sharks.
-
Are you saying they don't trap? Don't be ashamed of it, it's a great system. It frustrates the heck of the opponent, and even though it's "boring" to casual fans, any of us who are hardcore will appreciate a team that can do it well. I don't think anyone here is criticizing the Sharks for trapping, they're criticizing the Wings for not being able to overcome the trap.

been spending a lot of time on the preds boards wrapping up the season, and not really wanting to inject myself too much in to the Wings playoff run.

of course the absence of Holmstrom is going to hurt the Wings. I've often wondered why the guy doesn't get more credit around here. It's almost painfully obvious that Holmstrom is the #1 guy on the Wings roster that opposing teams have to account for in every game because of his presence around the net. Just read some articles in opposing papers, they're very complimentary of guys like Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Lidstrom, but almost every time you'll read about how they have to find a way of getting Holmstrom out from in front of the crease. I'd trade just about anyone to get Holmstrom on the Predators. He would be such a huge asset, especially against the sharks where you know he's going to draw one of those huge defensemen the entire time he's on the ice.

100% correct. San Jose doesn't trap until they have a lead. If you want to get them away from trapping then Detroit needs to score first. Scoring on the power play is an easy way to nullify the trap as well. Make THEM play from behind and they become a much, much less dangerous team.

I was at my grandmom's house yesterday since she has just gotten out of rehab (hip replacement). Both her and my sister commented on how I look slimmer and asked if I've been losing weight. It felt really good since the last two years have been nothing but the opposite.

Cool! Good Luck MSU... Keep us updated!

San Jose doesn't exactly have the best ice either. You know Nashville doesn't, and when our boys went out there, we had all kinds of skate problems due to their bad ice. So, good luck with either team you face. said it elsewhere, i'm by no means a redwings fan, hate them. But I hate the sharks and stars more now. So i'll be pulling for the Red Wings for yet another post season.

Update #3 Starting Weight: 222 Last Weigh-in: 216 Current Weight: 214 Target Weight: 190 Target Date: 6/29/07 (day that I leave for my wedding 6/30!!) Only two pounds this week, but I felt really good all week. I do have some really good news. I've signed up for a 5k walk/jog thing in two weeks. More motivation to work extra hard on exercise! I've got the eating thing down, it's the exercise that I have a hard time with.

I hope so, but they've been so loyal to him and patient with him so far that they might just give him another year. if they do decide to pick up the option for next year then it's definitely his last chance. It's the same thing in every big game we've ever played. poor line combinations, no signs of motivation in the players, no emotion from the coaching staff. I think that Barry has been a great coach from the beginning up until the end of last season. This season it's been a little tough to keep watching him behind the bench. Hopefully the team moves on from the Trotz era and he can go to some team that is re-building and help them get back to being competitive. He's a really good developing a program and taking them to a high level, but I don't think he's got what the "It" to take an already talented team to that next level of being serious contenders. and lets face it, bringing back the same thing next season would be an awfully difficult sell to the ticket buyers.

That musta been a huge log girl! maintaining a steady pace. I'll update tomorrow night, it should be close to the 3lbs i've been dropping each week, but it might be 2, might be 4. hopefully 4 because i've done exercise this week!

Wings fans, classiest in the NHL!!! (likewise, with exceptions ) It was another tough series, Preds were probably hurt more by coaching than anything. Just go browse our boards and you can see that Trotz is not very popular. As for the couple of comments about the Preds moving... do you honestly buy into that stuff? anyway, i'm not really up to giving my thoughts on the series, too soon. maybe in the next week or two. But Good Luck to the Wings representing the Central! If Hasek were able to get another cup, it would definitely strengthen his case for greatest ever. It would also be nice to see some older guys get another near the end of their career (Chelios, Lidstrom, Schneider, Draper, Maltby). Believe it or not, but this season, the Stars and Sharks moved past the Wings on my most hated list. So Detroit is only #28 of 30 now

no problems HC, it's not all about losing weight, just being healthy in general! the way the Wings (and preds ) series has been going, there probably needs to be a mental health thread too!
-
good player, never great, always there and always 100%. Even when he was on the blues I couldn't hate him. Another relic of the "old NHL" bites the dust. Good luck Scott!

BJ's couldn't have been in the league for 10 years. Next year is the Predators 10th anniversary season and they were first ones of the recent expansion. Nashville: 98-99 Atlanta: 99-00 Columbus: 00-01 Minnesota: 00-01

Atlanta will still be back. As long as they have Lehtonen, they can stay competitive. As for the Preds. I'd still make the trade again, knowing the outcome in the end. Even though it didn't help in the playoffs, getting Forsberg pushed a lot of tickets down the stretch and generated a lot more interest in the team and a lot more exposure for the team.

Update #2 Starting Weight: 222 Last Weigh-in: 219 Current Weight: 216 Target Weight: 190 Target Date: 6/29/07 (day that I leave for my wedding 6/30!!) sorry for the long delay. the 216 is my monday night weight, I just hadn't gotten past other distractions to get here to post it. So, I think i'm doing pretty good right now. 3 lbs a week so far, with about 11 weeks to go, at this pace i'd lose 33 lbs before the target date and I only need to lose 26. I wish i'd started this thread a week earlier when I had hit 225. so in all reality, i've lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks. it feels so much better, the shirt i'm wearing right now is snug. it used to fit loose and comfy, then it went to tight and restrictive, but right now it's just snug, tighter than it should be, but not uncomfortable. Same with my work pants. I can comfortably button them now! i've still got some work to go to button my jeans, and a long way to go before I can fit in my shorts again. But i'm on my way there!!!

Well, Atlanta has never done anything notable other than having the first pick in the draft, they made the playoffs this year and are going to end up losing in the first round as a division winner. Not good! Here in Nashville hockey has really picked up this year. If you had driven through 3 years ago, there wouldn't be any hockey talk in nashville. The Kariya signing is what really started turning things around here, that day was nothing but hockey talk all day, it was awesome. Then bringing in Arnott added another jolt, all the talk earlier this season about Leipold wanting to sell 40% to local ownership was big, trading for Forsberg and now a third trip to the playoffs. I really think whenever the Preds actually win a series or two, this town will be all over it. Winning a cup would be the ultimate. Give Atlanta time, they've got a good team now, let the city experience the playoffs a few times and things will be good there.

No use in even trying to explain away that loss last night. Preds had no urgency, no intensity, wouldn't hit anyone, passed to nobody all night and walked out of there with nothing to show but a steaming pile of horse poo. GRRR!
-
facts or not, there are a great many posters here such as yourself who are able to respond in a reasonable manner and just have a discussion like two civilized hockey fans. then there are posters like gordie who are looking for every opportunity to rip a team and their fans.
-
i've got better things to do than argue with you anymore. i'm sure the response will be "boo hoo, you couldn't win the argument so you took your ball and went home". But i've already pointed out enough contradictions in your version of the events that I don't need to keep this going. you can keep responding if you wish, but luckily I found the ignored users feature! I won't be needing to respond to you anymore, so you can get back to focusing on YOUR teams playoff series rather than creating 5 threads every day about the preds. I've never put any user on any board on Ignore before, so you should feel special!

if you want to look at something really funny, consider that i've been on here for a long time and able to talk sensibly about the preds with every other member of this forum. You're the only poster that gets into these stupid arguments on a regular basis. not to mention that on another recent thread you went as far as to listing your height, weight and "experience" and consenting to a fist fight with another poster. And i'm the one who's irrational here? You're so ridiculous that you can't even see it.

So you’re saying that two sharks are taking shots at Hartnell here, and then say that calling it a 2 on 1 is funny. So is Grier giving hartnell a cross check/shove or is he a stride behind both of them and not doing anything to anybody? But you’re not blaming Hartnell. And as you’ve already pointed out(and then tried to say it wasn’t the case) that two guys are on him, but Hartnell is wrong for not immediately dropping his gloves. Sure looks like you’re trying to blame the preds players. Then I guess Hartnell and his consistant 20-25 goals every season cannot possibly be so dirty as you constantly make him out to be, you know, if character is based on how many goals a guy scores. Can’t read what you already posted above? Good, Preds fans, and I’m sure even moreso a lot of the wings fans here, are tired of you starting thread after thread to spew your hatred for all things Predators. Guess what, if you don’t bring it up on here… then you don’t have to become so ill about Preds fans defending it.
