    Hartnell claims first victim

I originally thought it was intentional by Hartnell, it looked like it on the ice level camera. but the overhead camera actually looks like Cheechoo dragged his leg a little to try and clip Hartnell.

    LGW Fit Club

just wanted to bump this. i'm really starting to settle into this diet now after a week. A lot more water for me, I've only had 2 cokes all week. And a lot more fruits and vegetables. I haven't ate anything greasy, supplemented my hunger with saltines (switching to rice cakes though). Anyone else seriously dieting?

    Possibility of a sweep

If I had to predict one sweep in the playoffs. I'd probably take New Jersey over Tampa.

    I think it's on channel 151. I know i've got VS and I don't have the 250 package.

    Dish Network and the Playoffs

i've got versus. I thin i've got the top 180 package. but it might be 160 or whatever is below that. I can't remember what Center Ice was like last playoffs, i'm pretty sure that I got all the games there too.

    San Jose vs. Nashville

unfortunately, the games they've been bad have all tended to be against the wings

    San Jose vs. Nashville

wow, you must have watched a lot of Preds games and followed them pretty closely. Vokoun was the #1 coming into the season, he played like it too. then he got hurt. Mason came in and played like a #1. Vokoun got healthy and has been playing like a #1 ever since. I said it earlier, and I'll say it again, everyone who is saying that the goaltending has been shaky is either stupid, or just repeating what they heard from someone who is stupid. It's our offense that has struggled, the goaltending has been fine.

    San Jose vs. Nashville

of course, but you can say that about any team in the west. There are NO easy matchups by any means. Any of these first round series would have made a great conference finals.

    San Jose vs. Nashville

just found my info from last season. Witt, Markov and Sillinger combined for 30 mins in the box in 5 games. that's 3 PP's per game that we gave them with those guys. Notive that none of them play for us anymore? I'll be rooting for the top 4 seeds in the first round, hopefully setting up a Det-Nsh meeting in round two.

    San Jose vs. Nashville

yeah, but after last season, I don't think Nashville thinks SJ is under the radar. We got hammered by the sharks last season, and then retooled in the offseason with the specific idea that the team was being built to beat san jose.

    San Jose vs. Nashville

everyone predicting a SJ win, i'm guessing that you missed the fact that Preds took the season series 3-1? and that we were severely undermanned last season when the Sharks took us out? From last seasons playoff roster to this one, Preds will have added Forsberg, Arnott, Dumont, a healthy Legwand, Radulov, a healthy Vokoun and Vishnevski (if Trotz doesn't scratch him). The only players we'll be missing are Erat and Sullivan, Erat will be back at some point in this series, and Sullivan was hurting and a non-factor last season anyway. Officiating should be a little better this season. Last year this series was crazy, we couldn't lay a finger on big joe without going to the box, seems like SJ scored 2-3 PP goals every game last season. But the officials won't be under as much pressure from Bettman this time around, and the Preds PK should be a lot better. Another note on the penalties last season, Preds won't have Brendan Witt in his permanent seat in the penalty box. Healthy Legwand, Fiddler and Nichol up front, with Weber, Timonen and Zanon on the blueline should be a much better PKing team than last season. I'm really anticipating seeing Forsberg and Arnott go up against Thornton and Marleau. Or actually, i'm more exciting about the Legwand line not matching up against either of them. I think Preds third line is going to be the deciding factor in this series. Yes Vokoun is starting. And he should be, he's been playing great. There are a lot of people saying that the Preds goaltending situation is shaky because of our record since Vokoun came back, but really the goaltending has been fine, it's just that our offense went in the tank.

    Rivalry with Nashville, long-lasting?

you people are still responding to this guy? thats almost as bad as his argument. and besides, I'M supposed to be defending the preds here, I know it must be killing everyone BTW... Bertuzzi, Calder, Chelios, Cleary, Draper, Hasek, Lang, Langfeld, Lebda, Lilja, Maltby, Markov, Samuelsson, Schneider... not drafted by the wings, and Osgood was a re-aquisition. Wings must be horrible at drafting right? I wonder if they can stay competitive for the next 3-4 seasons and another thing to end your entire argument. If you say that we're such a horrible drafting team, then why would it be a bad thing to trade our picks for established players? we're obviously not going to do anything good with those picks anyway. two third rounders for Sullivan? freaking STEAL. two injury prone prospects and two picks for Forsberg? Not bad. Mike Dunham for Rem Murray and Marek Zidlicky? Poile should go to prison for that robbery. Vokoun and Timonen came through the expansion draft. no picks/prospects lost in that one. Got scott walker in the expansion draft, traded him for Vasicek, traded him for Belanger and traded him for Vishnevsky. no picks/prospects lost in that one. signed Dumont, Kariya, Arnott, Nichol, Fiddler and Smithson as free agents. no picks/prospects lost there. So the only time that we traded picks or prospects was for two players. TWO. what was your argument again?

Update #1 Starting Weight: 222 Last Weigh-in: 222 Current Weight: 219 Target Weight: 190 Target Date: 6/29/07 (day that I leave for my wedding 6/30!!) Been drinking a lot more water and eating a lot more fruit. I haven't really started too much exercise yet, but it's coming. I'd post new pics, but 3 pounds isn't much difference.

    Scott Hartnell's gesture

it's been rumored that Trotz and Hartnell haven't ever really gotten along. Mostly because of things like this, stupid penalties. But he's a good guy other than that. He's got a weekly radio show and seems to really like Nashville. And at a time when the Preds have been so lazy, uninspired and not emotionally invested in the games over the past month... I don't find much to be disappointed about with Hartnell. He was coming back from injury, trying to change the team's recent luck and for anyone who didn't watch the game, the Blues were a little too aggressive. The game meant absolutely nothing to st. louis, and very little to the preds, but the blues were out there gooning things up. Just before hartnell told them they were #1, one of the blues took a blatant whack at Forsberg's ankle.

    Scott Hartnell's gesture

youd never see something like that in the old days? more like, in the old days, you could only watch one or two games a week on television from your local team without as many camera angles and there was no internet to post stuff like this on and turn one small little action into the worlds biggest travesty in 24 hours.

    First playoff series set

I'll be pulling for the Pens in the east. As long as they aren't beating the Preds (which obviously won't be often), then I'd rather enjoy watching those young stars grow and shine!

Well here it is. Don't be scared Starting Weight: 222 Current Weight: 222 Target Weight: 190 Target Date: 6/29/07 (day that I leave for my wedding 6/30!!) I already started today, a bagel with 1/3 less fat cream cheese and water. Instead of going for fast food at lunch, I had Jason's Deli, Half of a roast beef sandwich, lettuce, tomato, no cheese, no mayo. On the side was 3 strawberries, 2 small chunks of pineapple and 6 slices of apple with tea to drink. Then at dinner was one homemade meatball sandwich with no cheese (usually I eat two with cheese). I'm planning on getting on this stepping machine during the second intermission of the Preds game.

The NHL Needs the Wings to Win the Cup

I actually have thought about this for a long time. Hearing all the arguments about where the NHL ranks in terms of popularity. Why is it so important for the NHL to be considered a major sport? or to rival the NBA and NASCAR? What if the NHL was only as popular as MLS? I mean, i'm sure soccer fans know where to go to see a soccer game, and they enjoy soccer just as much as ever regardless of weather or not the rest of the country are rabid soccer fans. To me, i'll always be a hockey fan no matter how popular it is. I'll always find the channel that hockey is on, i'll always find message boards to talk about it and websites to read about it. It's horrible to say it, but if the Preds ever moved or were contracted, i'd find another team to root for (Flyers), and I'd still like hockey just as much as ever before. Does any of that hinge on the masses being hockey fans also? not at all.

The NHL Needs the Wings to Win the Cup

you are correct that it makes rivalries and makes the postseason more exciting. But you're leaving out one key part of the whole argument. It's more exciting when it's your team that is dominating and involved in the big rivalry. But I can guarantee you that any fan in Carolina and Edmonton found last seasons matchup to be way more exciting than the last 10 years of Detroit, New Jersey and Colorado combined. And actually a lot of fans from the smaller markets were really into it, I know for a fact that just about everyone in Nashville was pulling for Carolina because of the many similarities between our cities and franchises. And just about all of Canada was pulling for the Oilers. And it was basically the same the season before that where the smaller markets were pulling for Tampa and Canada was pulling for Calgary. It might not seem like it to you, but I think it's very, very similar to Detroit vs New Jersey every season. Except instead of just rooting for those specific teams, you have fans rooting for specific causes. The teams in the finals might change every season, but the reasons that the fans pull for them are the same. If it ended up being Nashville vs Ottawa this year, it would be the same thing. And then Atlanta vs Montreal the next season would be the same thing. It would be like a different form of dynasty, where every season it's North vs South, Tradition vs Newness, Big Market vs Small Market. These are things that can actually unite and excite more fans (and definitely more casual fans) than just pulling for one specific team every season. But really, the answer lies somewhere in between. We need a period where a lot of different teams contend, and we need other periods where a small handful of teams dominate.

I didn't even notice that it had been deleted. but since it was the whole thread, i'm guessing it wasn't because of you. In fact, your posts were the more tasteful and clever ones. for everyone who doesn't get it, you would have had to read the entire thread to understand probably.

The NHL Needs the Wings to Win the Cup

dream scenario? hmm if Crosby led the Rangers past Toronto to advance to the finals against Ovechkin and the Kings who got there by beating Chicago (or detroit, or dallas) and there are other star players in the league. But the league as well as individual teams need to market these guys. and I know it sounds like i'm being a homer, but the fans need to band together and support the entire league. how do we expect new fans to come on board when the existing fans are always bickering about which teams do and do not belong in the league? i've never had a problem with expansion, and I wish every franchise to be healthy and stable. i'd actually like to see the league expand to 32. Though I know the two new teams would catch major hell from the rest of the league. It seems like every expansion class gets it worse and worse from the existing fans. and I don't understand it, i'm a hockey fan, it's the greatest game on earth and the more teams means more people watching and playing as well as more hockey for me to watch, more storylines to follow, more teams to see.

    LGW Fit Club

that's kind of what I was hoping to do with LGW Fit Club. see if we can get a group of people all doing it and posting updates and such, so that we can stay motivated. I figured it would be easier if we could see everyone else going through it, and knowing that you'd be letting down the fit club if you slack off. (cheesy I know, but whatever works)

    LGW Fit Club

That used to be me. I couldn't keep it on for anything. I would eat whatever, whenever, as much garbage as I could put in my body and i'd never gain a single pound. Then all of a sudden I went from 170 to 180, and I though, hey thats cool a little bigger for pick up hockey. and I stayed there for a while, then two years ago I jumped from 180 to 190 and I thought it was just natural filing out as I hit my mid twenties. But it just didn't stop, 200 pounds and I had a little pooch belly, 205 and I had some concern, but really thought that it would balance out and go back down (because i'm stupid). and then a year ago it just shot up to 220 and I got really worried, a big gut, couldn't button my pants anymore, even the new ones I bought. But it kind of steadied there for a while, I just lacked the motivation to do anything about it. And that brings us to now, a couple days ago I got on the scale and read 225. And i'm not going to keep doing that anymore, I look totally different than I did just a couple years ago, my family and friends make fun of me for being fat now when for the longest time they always made fun of me for being so skinny. It's really not a good feeling to hear your mother tell you how fat you are every time you visit.
