Kronwall is working on that reputation. And that's been noted by several posters on this very site. He's a damn good hitter, but sometimes he can get a little carried away. And don't act like Chelios and Maltby haven't had their fair share of "dirty" accusations from all across the league, not just nashville announcers. We all like to think that our teams are squeaky clean, our Arena is the loudest, our fans the classiest and so on. But every team has a dirty player, stupid fans and other assorted black marks on their franchise that they're not proud of.

We just let Drew Bennett and Travis Henry walk. and there isn't much on the market left to sign that would help out. Plus the looming prospect that they might cut Pacman Jones just to be rid of his off-field problems. Maybe in 2-3 years we'll be better, but next season could actually be a slight dip for the Titans. Vince is great, but he can't win games by himself.
-
you just haven't seen as many games from them maybe. they've called out our own players for being stupid and dirty. And you're acting like they just berate the wings and make up lies about them for 60 minutes, grow up.
-
from your own homer ears maybe. they over glorify EVERYTHING that the wings do.
-
how is that obnoxioius? a majority of guys make that call.
-
the Titans... who have been one of the worst teams in football over the last 4 years.

You honestly think Arnott drove his elbow into Lebda's head? Anyway, I think Pete and Terry are awesome. They have fun calling games, they're funny guys and they really know their s***. They're homers of course, but every announcer is, Redmond is just as bad as the rest of the league. I've heard him make some ridiculous statements as well. Plus Pete and Terry are very nice guys to meet and talk with, Pete Weber posts on our message boards once in a while, and there aren't many guys in hockey who can tell a better story than Terry Crisp.

I'm just going to copy my post from the preds forums over to here... I really thought we came out strong last night, and then sort of went to sleep until the end when we surged to tie it up. One reason is the Datsyuk goal, which I thought really put momentum on Detroit's side and tilted the ice in their favor just about the whole game. And I really think it was a poor goal all around. Datsyuk had no pass available, so he either had to pull the trigger, or skate it behind the net in hopes that a pass opens up or he can try for a wrap-around. Vokoun and Zidlicky have to know that there's no pass there, but what were they doing? Vokoun should have been up on that post and not come off it until Datsyuk was behind the net. and Zidlicky trying to make it into a pretty ballet or something, should have taken the body and rode Datsyuk into the end boards or at least out of shooting position. Who knows how the game would have turned out without that goal, but I do know that it was a killer. Overall though I guess i'm pretty happy this morning. We stole a point in a game that we didn't deserve it. and finished the road trip with a point in every game. Not too bad!

and well you should. I think too many Wings fans take the success for granted. I've never had one of my teams win a championship. Seen the flyers lose to the oilers, phillies lose to the blue jays, flyers lose to the redwings, titans lose to the rams, sixers lose to the lakers and eagles lose to the patriots... heck, I've even seen the Nashville Kats lose two arena bowls.

I think the Wings have done quite well in the age of free agency. If they had the owners who would spend money, and the scouting staff that would get the right players in say the 70's or 80's, then they would have won more cups. But in this era, to win 3 cups in 10 years is pretty amazing, so i don't think Wings fans should be feeling like they could have gotten more.

Getting closer and closer to game time... Even here in my Nashville office, the tension is building. I can't wait to see this game!

What we gave up is a hefty price if it were just about any other team in the league. But not to the Preds, we had the assets to give up and not deplete our roster/pipeline. Another team giving up as much as we did might have given up the future, but the Preds still have plenty of future left. Scottie Upshall was not a regular roster player, the 6th(?) overall pick in the draft several years ago and he still hadn't earned his way on. In, fact i'd say the only reason he got as many games recently was to raise his stock to be traded. Add in that he's NEVER been healthy. Ryan Parent should be a solid NHL defenseman in a season or two. BUT he's already having back problems. And we still have Klein and Franson coming up to an already stocked blueline. The first round pick is going to be very low in a weak draft. and the other pick is conditional. So, before you talk about what a huge price we paid based on what you see on paper, look a little deeper and get the full story. So you know for a fact that Holland didn't try to get forsberg? Maybe he just couldn't match what the preds had to offer. Though, i'm sure a more likely scenario, was that Holland saw that the wings needed a scoring winger rather than a center. Bertuzzi and Calder fit that bill a lot better than Forsberg.

6 points in 7 games. and as mentioned, it was a pickup for the playoffs. If tonight were a playoff game, he WOULD be playing. In fact, no one knows, he still could play tonight. This is like saying that the Wings are dumb for bringing in Hasek because he's hurt right now. Makes about as much sense as drunk driving.

I do wish the Preds boards had better moderation. I believe we only have one Admin/Mod and it can take quite a while sometimes before he comes on and takes down trolls, duplicate threads and other trash. I mean, he's a good mod for sure, but it would be nice to have a few more.
-
This has actually turned into a humurous thread. it's too bad that the same topic will pop up next month and we'll have to rehash everything once again.

I'm a Gordon fan. And Speaking of NASCAR. During the most recent Wings game that I watched, there was a commercial for a country music act coming to detroit, immediately followed (or preceded, can't remember which was first) by a commercial for NASCAR at Michigan superspeedway being sold out... ya stinkin rednecks!

nice input... especially for this series

It's the same here though. There is a lot of untrue information and incorrect judgements about Nashville and the fans. Anytime that a group of fans start talking about a place they they've never been to, or don't frequent. Or if they're talking about a group of fans that they aren't part of, or are rarely exposed to. Or if they're talking about a team that they don't watch, or rarely get to see and get to know that team... then there will be a lot of misinformation floating about. One of the smartest things i've ever read on a message board i've lived in Philly and Nashville. Been to New York, Florida, Ohio, Arkansas, New Jersey, Mississippi, Deleware, Georgia, no place is any smarter than the other, the people and places aren't any better or worse from one place to another.

I wish I could dig up the old GDT from the preds site and this site from that unfortunate night. It was a pretty somber mood on both boards.
-
I've met Greg Johnson and Danny Markov. Can't recall if any of the other preds i've met have ties to the Wings. Legwand grew up as a wings fan if that counts

nah, she's got a nice new full set, and she takes them out when we get together I do believe that there was a smatter of booing when the game was canceled, but nothing big. Who knows who the poster was that said they were booing Fischer, could be a 13 year old kid who doesn't know any better. We all know that Preds fans say stuff about the wings that aren't true, and we all know that Wings fans say stuff about the preds that aren't true. I mean, if you read a Wings-Preds GDT, youd think that Scott Hartnell was a baby raper and Tomas Vokoun tries to poison your mother in his off-time. Honestly, I haven't even looked at that thread. I know what will be said in there, and there are many level headed, knowledgable fans over there who should be able to respond appropriately.

just confirmed on the radio here... Jason Arnott WILL be back for the preds tonight!
-
I'm glad that what 1 or 2 people say can become the voice of every predators fan alive. I'd love to stay and comment on the issue further, but i've got some sister banging to get back to
-
I can't remember a Wings-Preds game with so many questions going in... What will the lineup look like? how will these lineups play? okay, two questions, but they're huge. I can't wait until the puck drops, this could end up being one of the best games ever in this series. Having said that, it'll most likely be a snoozer.

and whoever had problems with the fans down here in Nashville, i'd like to apologize on behalf of them. We're not all like that, and i'm sure it is worse when the wings are in town. But I know that personally, I understand if an opposing fan is in our arena and gets excited about their team, I mean... that's why they come to the game.
