leaners are so annoying. Usually I can still see over them, but when i'm next to someone short i'll usually be nice and ask the person in front of us to sit back in their seat. I mean, I like to lean forward as well, but I don't do it at an arena unless i'm in the very top row. and I have been known to request the top row, there's a ledge behind it to put your jacket and food, and you can stand up/lean forward whenever you want!

Can We Just Make Brett Hull the Commissioner Already?
Legionnaire11 replied to gcom007's topic in General
I do wish they would at least consult more with former players on changes to the game. Hull, Messier, Lemieux, Yzerman. There's a glut of former greats right now who would bring respected opinions. -
Maybe he'll just go "Rip Hamilton" and keep it through the playoffs.

One of the funniest things i've seen all day!! Thanks ...and I just got done watching Jackass 2

Sean Burke was in net. I think he's gotta be 60 years old by now. Not that I'm complaining, Preds get the points! Forsberg with 3 assits, Weber with 2 goals, Kariya with 2 goals. The power play is hitting right now. Just gotta see if we can put all the pieces together again tomorrow in Anaheim, this is a brutal road trip AND we still have a roadie through western canada on the schedule.

so the next generation of Wings and Avs will immerse

Come on Tunbo, this is too many posts recently where i AGREE with you. A rivalry doesn't have to be made because of a cheap shot, or someone getting mugged. It can be born of hard fought games, most of all, rivalries are born from playing several meaningful games against one opponent. Like teams battling for a division or conference title, and teams who meet up often in the playoffs. The physical play can accelerate a rivalry, but it isn't necessary to create one. Though, when two teams meet so many times in important games, there are bound to be some cheap shots, fights, etc. -
Thats what I was watching for. I wanted to see the reception that Lowe got, but I guess with the trade earlier in the day, they didn't think it was safe for Lowe to be out there. Shame too, because he was definitely a former teammate who deserved to be out there with the rest.

Yeah, Smyth didn't want to leave, but he could have taken a little less to re-sign. They were obviously pretty close to signing, so the team couldn't have been lowballing him that badly. Or they agreed on a contract, but went ahead and traded Smyth to bring in some picks and prospects, with the knowledge that Smyth will be back this summer.

I thought the whole thing with the cup was ridiculous. So damn corny. Let the guy wear a suit, or put on a jersey over it. But to have him come out in full gear and skate the cup around... Just the whole thing wasn't right to me. The announcer, the presentation. Why did they have to count down from 11? and then after they got to 1, they went to 12? They should have shown some highlights, let a few guys say some words (Gretzky, Fuhr, Kurri) then unveil the banner, let mark say some words and then raise the banner. Would have been classy, a lot shorter and most of all, Messier wouldn't have had to stand there in his skates the whole time. Did like the oilers wearing throwbacks though!!

Kariya whiffed on the shot anyway, if he had gotten all of that shot it would have went in. Still a good save, but not the greatest thing ever.

Anyone read the Brodeur book? He talks about superstitions. He says he puts his pads on in the same order every time because it's habit and not superstition. And the biggest one, he says that all season and all through the playoffs the team talks about winning the stanley cup. Because superstitions are a trap, you start to believe that they control you, you become afraid of things that aren't real. I know a lot of successful teams have superstitions like don't walk on the logo and stuff. But I subscribe to Brodeurs line of thinking, you have to believe in yourself and your ability to perform, not something silly like not saying the word Shutout or Stanley Cup. I'd rather have my guys focused on the job, than being afraid of it because they lost their lucky penny.

it's a pretty common game in hockey locker rooms.
-
and if it hadn't been waived off, then there wouldn't have been a powerplay which they scored on. Get over it

so you don't think Tootoo is just like you and I? I have a feeling that if he ever plays for Detroit, he'd be a huge fan favorite.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?
Legionnaire11 replied to chelios4eva's topic in General
Because the Blues had 26 straight playoff apperance, with ZERO stanley cups to show for it. And the Redwings have been the most consistently successful franchise in the league for the past 15 years. Adding in that they've been in the same division forever just compounds the difference in success as a franchise. it's the type of hatred that comes from jealousy and envy. All of us who are fans of other teams who oppose the Redwings feel it. Same way that fans of the Red Sox, Indians and others feel about the Yankees, or how Knicks fans felt about the Bulls. They hate the Wings because they're the best. -
just a note on the Hawks lineup. Lasse Kukkonen was traded to the Flyers

Bertuzzi... ...no seriously, i'm scared. Weber and/or Vishnevsky better be on the ice every time that Bertuzzi is out there.

just read 3rd round pick. makes more sense now. maybe someone easily confused a 3 with an 8.
-
If Shero actually sent an 8th round pick, he has to be one of the greatest GM's ever.
-
just forgot about it, doesn't change the lineup too much though

Flyers will definitely be shopping Esche now. He said he only wants to be the #1 guy, and now he's #3 in philly. I bet they scratch him, and probably don't even let him into the locker room after today, he'll cause too much of a disruption. I really like what the Flyers are doing. I was Die-Hard flyer fan when I was growing up in Philly, watched them get swept by the Wings in the finals and then moved to Nashville in time for the Preds who are my unquestioned #1 now. I fell away from the Flyers the past few years with all of the horrible moves they made, but with Clarke out of the picture, and the way they're building for the future, i can definitely get on board with them again (as a distant #2 that is) Niityymaki and Biron in net Pitkanen, Parent, Kuukonen, Gauthier, Picard, Jones and Timonen on the blueline (they'll dump Hatcher) Gagne, Knuble, Carter, Richards, Upshall, Umberger, Sanderson, Kapanen and up front. Plus the #1 pick in the draft coming up, the possibility of re-signing Forsberg, and a few guys they can dangle as trade bait. I think they'll turn things around very, very quickly.

Florida, Boston, Philadelphia, Ottawa and New York Rangers

I'm not sure what there is to even think about with this one, waive that NTC! The chance to play with Crosby in the playoffs? He will never, ever have the opportunity again.

it was an early start, the day after a hard fought overtime game. With our backup goalie in net, our two leading goal scorers injured and short on defense from the third period on... not too bad
