Oh, I wasn't comparing the situations. I was just comparing the media coverage. Everyone knows the reasons for not selling out in Detroit, but you're getting articles there talking about fan interest and other BS stuff. I was just pointing out that the media doesn't always portray a situation accurately, but they will always write a story that creates controversy and gets people reading.

actually the Arena team just folded a couple of hours ago. as for the article, I don't have to refute anything in it. This guy is the last one to join the party, he hasn't said anything new and has only rehashed all the same BS that has already been disproved. I guess he missed all the news about a deal being done within the next week? You know, because the same government people that he was talking about... they actually want to get this deal done. If you want to read the factual business of the preds and this sale. Check out Richard Lawson of the Nashville Post. It's the business paper in town. He's pretty much debunked all of the myths that the Tennessean has spread by just looking at the actual documents involved. Something the Tennessean has to this point, obviously failed to do. they never include references to the documents, The Post does. Pretty simple to see which source is more credible. and with all the recent articles on attendance in detroit, you folks oughta know all about how everything in print is 100% factual right?

NHL re-alignment - North and South Conferences
Legionnaire11 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
and this is another reason why the league has fallen and will continue to fall from the sports spotlight. There are too many teams that want to view the league as 30 individual businesses rather than one large business with 30 departments. And that just trickles down to the fans of those teams who think that way. How many times have you seen a suggestion that the league should just whack 10 teams and that would fix all of the problems? You think that the media criticizes the league now, wait till 1/3 of the teams are killed off. The NHL will go from obscurity to virtual non-existance. What the league needs is 30-32 teams that all have the best interest of the league as a whole in mind. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem likely to happen in the foreseeable future, so we're doomed to have mass turmoil in the NHL for many, many more years. -
NHL re-alignment - North and South Conferences

don't know about north and south. But it is a lot closer to the NFL/MLB type of allignment. Basically, teams should have to pay into an NHL travel fund. And then have a central league travel office that books flights and hotels. -
you must have gotten a hold of my family picnic photos...

yup, I really attacked you! none of your previous posts have indicated that you're the one who can't handle the argument. I guess it's all my fault, i'm like Tootoo that way. You wanted to have a nice clean argument on the subject, but I just had to go and sucker punch you by comparing you with TWKUK. I mean, you didn't do anything to incite that, and i'm just a worthless POS who can't go by the code of the message board. Anyway, you're right. I don't really care. But you're still way off on losing our team. The new lease deal should be approved this week and the new ownership will be in place soon. Then they can come in and get this ship back on course. Leipold hasn't done squat, no budgets for anything, there has been zero advertising through the summer and into the season. All of the hockey talk in town has come from outside parties such as Our Team, and Save the Preds. Many bright minds in the organization have quit because they are tired of having no direction from Leipold while he's still the owner. As soon as the local group and Boots come in they'll start straightening things out. There's even talk that AEG is going to come on board as arena management which really boosts the whole deal.

haha, does anyone watch "The Whitest Kids U'Know"? Gordie is starting to remind me of a character that Trevor played on there once. He was supposed to be a general or something for the British army during the american revolution. So he gets his army ready and then he starts shouting over to the american army all the rules of combat "okay, you line up over there, and we'll line up over here. Now since we're the invading army, we shall take the first volley and then you will return fire and then we exchange volleys like such until one side is the winner"... and of course, the americans just start firing and he gets pissed "WAIT, Now we owe you two shots, so you stand there and let us get our two shots and THEN it's you're turn to fire" the americans fire again and he gets even more infuriated and it goes on like that throughout the skit. ------------------------------ Now, i'm not saying it's right to jump right on a guy, or start swinging before his gloves are off, or fight with a visor on. But it is hockey, it is fighting, you have to expect anything if you're going to be out their trying to start s***. Think of all the incidents that have happened on the ice in the last 20 years, why would anyone think that every time out on the ice, everything is going to go by the code?
-
sorry, wasn't intended for you. Directed at the pro video coach
-
btw.... tootoo isn't wearing a visor this year, i'm sure you caught that with your expert analysis of the video though
-
hey BTRD... better watch out for my Blue Raiders tomorrow!!!! nah, virginia will double them up probably. But it will be fun to actually see an ACC team in Murfreesboro!
-
yeah, he really caught him completely off guard. No way for Laperriere to ever know that there was going to be a fight. Poor, poor Laperriere. honestly, there's not much point to this argument
-
okay, whatever. You're watching something else. and the fact that you compare it to robidas blew your own argument up from the very start. if you think there is anything wrong with that fight between Toots and Laperriere, you're an idiot.
-
this is actually going on all around the league actually, they're getting rid of the box behind the goal. the real reason for the move? it creates more premium tickets around the league. It could create anywhere from 240-360 additional seats around the league at anywhere from $100-150 or more. which could mean as much as $70M for the league.
-
plenty of guys fight with a visor. Laperriere knows that Tootoo wears a visor, so he knows what he's getting. If Tootoo takes his helmet off, then what about Laperriere? now he's got all the extra protection. There was no extra penalty, so nothing wrong with it. Clearly Laperriere was the agressor, otherwise Tootoo would have gotten an extra penalty for starting a fight with a visor as he has on several previous occassions. the real poor sportsman last night was Ryan Smyth. Usually a very classy guy, but he cheap shotted Greg Zanon last night after a good clean hit from Zanon. I guess it was frustration late in a 4-0 game, but Smyth is one of the last guys i'd expect that from. not really a big deal though, it was nothing major.
-
good lord man, you can't even compare his fight last night with the Robidas incident. He was a pest last night, won a fight, didn't take any stupid penalties and actually played a decent game. Not much else you can ask for from the agitator. I suppose the only way that you will be happy from now on is if Tootoo takes his helmet off, puts his hands behind his back and lets the other guy get in one free shot before the fight starts. You're a little ridiculous in your Tootoo hate. anyone who watches that video will have to disagree with you. Lapperriere's gloves came off at the same time, tootoo was just quicker to the draw. you don't know what they're saying to each other down there, so how can you say that Tootoo just suckered him off guard? just give it a rest with all the junk on Tootoo, if he does something that terrible this season, you'll know it. But don't go trying to blow up every single hit and fight into him being the dirtiest SOB ever to play the game.

WHYYYYYYYY, WHYYYYYYYYYYYY well played!!

where does the Predators offseason rank on the greatest beatdowns ever? Just found out that Sullivan is lost for at least 3 months with another back surgery. This summer keeps getting better and better...
-
this is the salary cap. young studs and stars in their prime will be paid. aging veterans will have to accept less to continue playing if they really love the game.
-
the jersey is a lot better than those goalie pads...
-
i actually found a picture of the Wings new jerseys... you know it's just a joke

Owning a hockey team is not good business -- or is it?
Legionnaire11 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
if you've got the money to lose for a few years, even owning a bad revenue team is a good move. Look at how much money Leipold is about to pocket. He's moaned about losing so much over the years, and he's still about to come out the other side of it with something like $90M in personal profit. -
i wouldn't worry about these things being too snug on you. it's still a hockey jersey, not under armor
-
Why No Balsillie? because he wouldn't be able to move the Lightning. He's only interested in teams he can move. Gotta love how everyone talks him up as this guy with a huge love for the game, but he's not interested in owning a team unless it's in his back yard.
-
haha, i didn't think about that... she had a hip replacement, although she did get some good drugs to go along with it.

I wish I had one of those plaid jerseys. they're so confusing.
