someone asked for this on the first page. I did a quick and dirty. Believe it or not, this was an actual photograph, by the time I got done with it, it ended up looking more like an NHL 07 screen shot or something. Anyway, enjoy...
-
no kidding, Sullivan missed the entire playoffs. Hartnell and Timonen were playing hurt. Radulov was out for a game and a half of that series. Erat missed two games and was playing badly hurt when he was back. We actually had to dress Darcy Hordichuk and Ramzi Abid for two games. the Forsberg-Radulov combination was the only thing going for us besides Dumont and at times Vokoun.
-
i hope this happens so bad. just for the reactions here, it would be the biggest 180 a fanbase has ever done on a player. Forsberg would go from being a diving-crying-pansy to one of the greatest players ever to take the ice.
-
yeah it was us... actually, the real Rex Hudler, who is I think color guy for the Angel's broadcasts was on the radio a couple of days ago.
-
The problem is that you're looking under "J" for Jiri, when you should be looking under "R" for Rex

worked for the Ducks, didn't they give Niedermayer the C upon signing with them?
-
so the bottom 10 in attendance every season should just be contracted or moved? great logic! in 3 years there wouldn't be a league anymore.

Hey all. The big day was last sunday (the 1st) and now i'm back from the honeymoon. and, after all of the great food we ate this week, i definitely need to keep up with my fit club regimen. I was at my sister's earlier and she has various balls to exercise with. I did some tossing around of a small weighted ball, about 5lbs probably. and then bounced around a big 2-3' ball and did some dancing while dribbling it to some music. It was actually one of the best workouts that i've had in a while. I felt thoroughly worked all over my body afterwards. it was fun, easy and something that i'd be very likely to keep doing every day.

http://www.900chml.com/news/news_local.cfm...=news_local.cfm http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...3d8&k=13390 Good news sort of. Nothing official, the local group still plans on making an offer within the next week. There are two things that are better about this deal. First, del Biaggio isn't as dead set on moving the team as fast as possible. He'll be a lot more patient and a lot more open to staying in Nashville if the fans respond. Second, a move to kansas city doesn't really help the league as much as the Hamilton move would have, there isn't a clear demand for hockey in KC and the owners won't be as likely to approve a relocation that would be a lateral move at best.

Which of the 7 'big' names get into the Hall this year?

I must have brain damage or something. I thought Messier and Francis were already in. dang -
Never said we wouldn't re-sign him. In fact there are rumors that he's about to sign for 2 more years. Those died down a little and now saying he'll test the market. As far as $$$ is concerned, we really need to sign kariya to eat up some cap space. We're somewhere around $9M below the cap floor with 3-4 players to sign. As for where he'd fit with the Wings. Well, he's more of passer than a goal scorer. He's got a great shot, but if you look back at his career, you can see that he's definitely more of a playmaking setup guy..

too bad for you that Rinne is pronounced Ree-Nuh

everyone claiming how aweful the preds will be next season without Timonen, Hartnell and Vokoun. didn't the Wings lose Shanahan, Yzerman and Legace during last offseason? had a lot more youth and grit this year and went farther in the playoffs? thought so
-
this is actually a re-signing. and a very good one. Rinne will still most likely be in the AHL next season. He's probably ready for the NHL. He looked really good in his debut last season. But I think the preds sign a veteran backup for Mason and let Rinne get another full year of starting in Milwaukee before bringing him up for good. FWIW, he preds scouts all agree that Rinne could one day be the best tender ever to suit up for the Preds.
-
i'm sure they had been thinking about it since last december or so when Mason proved he could handle being a full time starter every bit as good as Vokoun. I do agree that it was the wrong way to handle it. they could have held off on it until Vokoun was notified. But this summer is anything but ordinary for the Preds and circumstances are very different than just about any other team, any other year. I don't like it, but that's how it is this season.
-
there were heavy rumors of Fernandez to Boston that morning.
-
I think the team would have liked to do things differently, but Vokoun was on Vacation in europe and Poile was on the radio this morning saying that, once the goalie moves started happening on friday (Toskala, Fernandez) they felt like they had to move fast before there weren't any takers left. sucks, but it's business. i'm not gonna feel bad for a guy who brings home $110k per WEEK.

haven't played in a few years, i've been focused more on music. but played my entire childhood in philly. got to nashville in high school and there wasn't much hockey. But i nagged the gym teachers enough to let us play floor hockey a couple of times, and I always arranged a few street hockey games among my friends to help teach them the game. then by the time I got to college, the Preds were a couple of years old. and there were more leagues popping up. I was in the very first roller hockey league here, there were only 2 adult teams at that time, then it went to 4 the next season, 6 the season after that. but I was unable to continue after that and haven't really played since.
-
and you won't see any articles coming out of Canada that says any of that unfortunately, they seem to be pumping out anti-nashville articles every day that are full of innacuracies and are picked up by national outlets, then you get all these idiots who don't know any better running around proclaiming that Nashville is the worst market ever. I still see people who say that the preds only average 12,000 last season because it was in some report back when the sale was first announced.
-
btw, Nashville drew 15,200 last season. but only 13,800 paid for their tickets every night. So there's 1,400 more that are interested and go, they just got free tickets. I believe we also sold out 19 games, that's right at half of them. there is an article in the paper, yesterday or today that says the ticket push is going very well. they hit 1,000 NEW season tickets this week. And their target is 3,000 by the end of this off-season. Which would put our base at 11,000 and hitting the 14k mark next season would be no option. we were only 200 shy last season with 8,000 season tickets.

moving out of Nashville to Hamilton does nothing to grow the game and even less to get a better TV deal.
-
no, the exclusivity period expired last week. The local group is looking for one more big name to join them, and then they'll probably make an offer. I read somewhere, some canadian article, that Balsillie may eventually pull out of this one and go after the Thrashers. I wish he'd just get an expansion team in hamilton instead of trying to rip a team from everyone else.

we traded away RIGHTS to Timonen and Hartnell. It was obvious that they were going to get ridiculous offers that wouldn't be matched anyway. So we got a first round pick from it. Vokoun has not been healthy the last two seasons, that's how Mason got his chance to shine anyway, and many felt that Mason outplayed Vokoun last season. We have a few holes to fill, and moving Vokoun's salary lets us fill in a decent 3rd line and get some veteran presence on the blueline. as for core talent... Arnott, Dumont, Radulov, Legwand, Erat, Sullivan, Weber and Mason. not bad We're not adding anybody to make the team better? Just speculation?... actually we MUST sign someone. We have to meet the cap minimum after all.
-
okay, my thoughts. if it sounds bad, it's because i'm just copying my response from the Flyers boards where their fans are much less knowledgable of the preds than you guys are. I hope it helps clear a few things up. and most importantly, don't feel bad for me or any other preds fans. In general, we're taking everything very well, and the Vokoun trade has been speculated on for a week now, so it's no shock. okay, now my response... First of all. There is no firesale going on. Timonen and Hartnell were going to command too much on the open market even if there were no sale going on. We didn't trade them. We traded their rights, and got a first round pick back. Vokoun, well lets see, the team has no third line, and onle 5 proven defensemen. But we have two goalies with stats that were dead even last year. Except one guy makes almost $6M and the other only makes $1M... which one are you going to keep? Next i'd like you to say hello to the cap minimum. We're sitting somewhere around $8M under the cap floor with 5-6 players left to sign. you can see that we will be replacing vokouns salary, plus another $2M. last, spending to the cap floor doesn't mean that the team is tanking in an effort to move. balsillie couldn't care less about the team's record or attendance. If he can buy his way out of nashville he will. What this really tells us is that the sale is not likley to go through, and Leipold will be stuck with the team for at least next season. So to minimize his losses, he's only spending the minimum. It's actually good news for Nashville. As for hitting 14k, if you think we won't, then you're just not paying attention. We were only off by 200 tickets last season. And since the sale was announced we've had a huge surge in season tickets sold. Our Team Nashville is reportedly doing VERY well in their bold attempt to sell 3,000 new season tickets by the end of the summer. Plus the grassroots effort from the fans that is generating a lot of new ticket sales (one individual fan has personally accounted for 98 new season tickets being sold, he's ridiculous, lol). All of this before we've even had our rally/ticket drive later this month. At this point we're not aiming for 14,000 anymore, we're shooting for 16,000. any questions, feel free to post them and i'll answer to the best of ability.

If the Hawks pick Turris, then the flyers will take Kane. If the hawks pick Kane then the flyers will pick Van Riemsdyk. But I don't see Turris going #1. Cherepanov at #11? are the guys who made this draft from Colorado? Preds taking a goalie because they don't have a goalie of the future? Vokoun and Mason are only 30 years old each, and Pekka Rinne will be pushing them for the backup spot. crazy draft.
