Before anyone jumps the gun.... fighting in a prospects camp, or any camp is actually somewhat on the common side. Especially cus you always have these ****** bags who think they are top dog and they act like it. Theyre the ones who go around making dirty plays and guys will really take exception to them. What I'm more concerned about is how much he used his stick to engage the fight. That is probably how Olimb hurt his shoulder - not in the fight. That stick work is real bulls***. I mean, and they say Marty McSorely used his stick as a weapon. But to be fair, we didn't get to see what Olimb did before that video started. Also, I think Bowman is spot on with all things considered.

um....Krupp was 'injured' and while he 'injured' he went dog sledding. Just sayin.

my memory doesn't serve me so well....any one have details as to why this happened with NJ? It must've been a wierd hiccup because it didnt take them too long to become relevant again.

I mean, I completely disagree with this post. Trying to accomplish parity has nothing to do with east coast vs west coast. I mean, that makes no logical sense. Accomplishing parity is a means of having smaller market teams compete with bigger market teams and also so you dont have a small handfull of teams always winning (Det, Col, Dal, NJ etc...). The fact that the eastern conference has *seemingly* been the weaker conference of late is probably only a coincidence. Especially when you consider the fact that the east coast teams have a stronger fan base that would logically result in more profit for the teams resulting in more success. I think parity has been accomplished. Every year you see upsets. And NOT just in the east coast. As wings fans, we should be quite knowledgeable about this. Anaheim, Edmonton, Calgary, Los Angelas, San Jose (Irbe era). I mean, c'mon....you NEVER see this in the NBA. It's awesome! This year in the west SJ, Chi, Van were all behind in their series at some point. And the Eastern race has just been fantastic. Also - to compare conferences, it would be cool if someone could provide a stat for season W-L records for East Vs West games. That would be a lot more useful to this conversation.

Finland is special though. Kids there are born with skates on their feet. Thats why you see the "Flying Finns" coming down from the UP and dominating all around Michigan. Daavatila, Pietila, Sturos, Kivisto, Lesperance, Helminen, etc. etc. - you always see those names dominating michigan hockey.

If Ryan Miller is on there, then why not Drew? They grew up in NJ but lived in MI for awhile...obviously attending state. and their dad lives in EL. And Knuble went to East Kentwood so thats native enough perhaps? If not, i'll play!

Normally my instincts would cause me to write a 5 page paper as to why this statement is completely lost.....but i feel like all you would have to do is spend 2 minutes on google instead of reading billboards you casually drive by to form your opinion.

true science actuallty shows we are closer to an ice age than global warming. But you can keep reading the new york times until they are officially bankrupt.

anybody go to the MSU Rotaract charity "Hold'em for Hunger" poker event the other week? Buy in was a food item and first place took home 2 grand.

Ya that doesn't really make any sense to me. If its tied in the 3rd - you're guaranteed a point going into overtime. So tell me why what you are saying here, doesnt apply to hockey right now? You don't want to play regulation plus OT and come up with 0 points, so you will play to win. No matter how you want to word it so it makes sense to you, if a team wants to play trap hockey to hold onto a lead, tie or whatever - they are going to do it. ...and you cant play trap hockey 4 on 4 (which is not real hockey to me so i think this is also stupid)
-
I HATE that there are 4 categories for points when you look at standings. It just looks stupid and messy. Though I don't know if I completely agree with the original idea but I do think there should be: 2 points in win in regulation, OT or shootout. 1 point if you make it through the OT but lose in the shootout. 0 points if you lose in regulation or OT. Before, you only got one point if you tied at the end of OT and that was the end of it. Things got screwy once they went to a 4 on 4 OT.

hahaha that is fantastic. I actually LOL'd I'll never understand sentiments like this from fans. We're FANS. Whether or not we get ahead of ourselves will have no determination of how the team actually plays. We are not THAT important.

Hey I wouldn't argue with that. I'll be the first guy to hold the "I apologize, Osgood" sign. But that would mean Ozzie wins the Conn Smythe this year and then shipps off to SJ or in this years case, probably LA and then we have Howard that sits on a teetertotter for the rest of his career and lets in just a splash of behind the red line goals just to agitate his haters and leave his followers to hastily come to his defense all the while leading us to a small handfull of stanely cups and an inordinate amount of regular season wins while styling an ugly ass helmet that only a mother could love and an upbeat attitude in even the most dreadful of times that some wonder could possibly just be compensation for even his own personal lack of confidence but years later finds himself in 2 seperate conversations - one of which includes the hall of fame, the other of which includes being the worst goalie to ever win a stanely cup. But amongst all of these issues he will simply find himself to be the underpaid mentor of a goalie who is destined to live up to expectations that never deserved to be there in the first place but then is called upon again once that the said, unproven goalie finally shapes up to be something but people are still hesitant to wonder if he can produce the same results that the worst goalie to ever win a stanely cup/possible future hall of famer has produced in over a decade thus providing an endless amount of amusing yet often waste of time posts brought to you exclusively by LGW.com but s*** - if it brings another stanely cup then i am all for it!

In today's economy, you'd have to be an idiot to rent! Especially in good ol' Michigan real estate.

just to clear up a little confusion, the wings brass just told drew to buy a house - so it looks like they plan on keeping him around for a bit. Source: saw drew and ryans dad today

is it just me....or when a player loses their stick on a penalty, especially if they are on their side closest to the bench, i would rather them give the other team a 5 second 5-3 and have the player get a stick than give the team a 35 second 5-3 1/2 while he stands there as a pile-on.

I think the thrashers would be smart to slot him as a number 2 because honestly, he wouldnt be a bad number 1 especially when lehtonen goes down (which he will sometime). Honestly, Legace never deserves the grief he gets from posters on this board. I recall one weird thing he said after the loss in the playoffs and people make it out to be 500 stories where really it was only 1. He's a good goaltender, and at the price you could probably sign the guy at, possibly the best bargain in the NHL for goaltenders. (i'll wait to see Ozzie's season performance this year before i decide on a number one.)
-
This. plus i always wanted to ask them how the hell they ever came to the decision about going after Huet whilst having khabibulin. I know at the time he was shaky...but how do you justify carrying that kind of cap space in net without having a plan to move one of them? and now look what happened - the goalie they were trying to replace ended up regaining form and taking them to the WCF. and then lose him the following offseason only to leave the netminding up to the goaltender known as their oops child.

So I was going to just tell you the player - but I thought maybe it would be enjoyable for people to make a guess as to what player it was. If people don't feel like guessing I'll just spill it. But I work at a bar here in Michigan. I'm a waiter but obviously I keep working throughout the night when people are just drinking. This particular Wings' player had gotten up on the main bar a few times dancing and singing. (we usually never allow this because its a pretty fancy establishment, but our owners knew who he was). Well, eventually during one of his dances, he decided to jump into the bar and grab a fifth. (I dont want to start rumors as to what he was going to do with the 5th...chug it, pass it to a friend, whatever - because our bouncers were on him before he could do anything with it) So swiftly one of our bouncers grabbed him and kicked him out of the bar. Apparently his name could only get him so far. So there ya go - let the guessing begin.
-
Ya its probably the best bar in East Lansing. More upscale so you get better looking and better dressed girls there. No problem! Don't forget to tip your waiters! Ya it was all in good fun. He's older than me so I know he's of age....plus our bar is pretty tight on rules. And him and his whole crowd were gettin the whole place goin having a good time. I actually found out later that one of our owners let him back in the place after he was kicked out. So no one really took it as a big deal.

I played for Brighton Highschool varsity. I was the assistant captain my senior year. Im pretty sure we finished ranked top 3 in the state every year. We beat Justin Abeldkaders team like 8-1 or somethin big like that when they were ranked number 2 and we were ranked number 7. and we won states in 2006 Now I play for a mens league team in East Lansing. Its real good hockey. On a side note - we got a few guys who graduated this year and we are looking for guys to take their place. So if you're in the area and youre actually GOOD - maybe we can see if we can get you a spot on the team. Its good hockey though so you have to be honest about your skill level and we'd wanna see you skate beforehand. We lost the championship last year on a 5-3 PK in OT so this year we're looking for revenge. Its cup or bust. And on that subject, if youre in the Howell area - send me a quick note with your cell number. My buddy runs the Grand Oaks rink there and we're always having skates going from 8 at night till whenever we get tired. sometimes goes as late as 2am. TJ Hensick is from here so if you dont mind skating with an Avs player its fun to go up against an NHLer. You can be as terrible as you want to come out and skate. No worries.
