I wouldnt agree with you on the goalie situation. Hasek is the best out of the 4 for sure, but what if he goes down, even just for a few days. Huet/Aebisher are both better than ozzy in my opinion. It just seems like we dont win very much with ozzy in net. NATURAL wingers (top 4): MTL-Ryder, Latendresse, Johnson, (Samsonov), Plekanic DET-(Dats, Hank) neither are wingers....but i guess you could call one of them a wing, Cleary, Homer, Williams. i would give the edge to MTL for sure. We definitly have the edge in D though both are very talented there. we have so many centers that its not even worth discussing. But the thing is...our centers that are forced to play wing are less effective there. Where we are deep at center, the habs are at wing. The habs also have a wider array of player types. They have those trigger guys for the PP in Kovalev and Ryder. They have the big point shot in Souray. And they have the grinder, power forward type in Latendresse. And they have Koivu, which speaks for itself. I would definitly like to get some players that will help us in the postseason and make us harder to play against, these are the kind of players that MTL has more of.

Okay ill agree with you on Begin and Janne i suppose, i just kinda threw those names out. My original point is still valid. May i re-present my original point. the habs are a very deep team, they have many more than 3 good players. i.e. Johnson, Latendresse, Ryder, Markov, Plekanic, Souray, Koivu, Higgins. And also that young guy Lapierre, i really like the way he plays.

you obviously havent watched as many habs games as i have. Dont apologize, it doesnt really matter to be whether these players impress you. Point is they are deeper, especially up front than the wings are. And they certainly have more than 3 "good players" as the previous poster stated. Also, from what you are saying, you arent impressed with Lang, Filppula, Hudler, or Draper this year? All i saying is that points arent the only thing to consider when determining whether a player is a good player or not.

the habs only have 3 good players eh? i dont know what planet youre living on but the habs are very deep. Koivu, Plekacic, Kovalev, Higgins, Begin, Souray, Niinimaa just to name a few. back to reality. Samsonov has already been a 70 point guy twice, so he obviousl;y has the capability to be a 40 point guy. I think that he would be a good fit here, but is not needed if we retain datsyuk.

I think that the majority of Euro players are left handed, and since this team is predominately Euro, we have a majority of left handers. I would say that the ratio is more tilted lefty than you put, 80-85%. just my two cents.

and just who would they take from us for (arguably) the best offensive player to come around in at least a decade? like rice said, good luck with that

I agree, RyanBarnes wants a guy with Thorntons size and skill, and.....wel.....bootlands playing style. Thats not gonna happen, there isnt anyone in the league that is like that, especially that we can get. We NEED to score goals....thats how you win games, Gionta would help quite a bit with that i am sure. I think gionta is a wings uni will make up for this terrible offseason...again

Simon Gagne will never play in Detroit. He had one good season, which was helped by the best in the league constantly feeding him goals, and now he wants 5 or 6 million a year....im starting to think hes russian as for the other two....you're right they do perform more.....eh i dunno....i just hope that dats doesnt ask for the same kinda money gagne wants....though i know he will

You make a good point, though i think if we give him a linemate that can skate he can produce pretty well, i dont necessarily think that he needs to put up 15 goals in the playoffs or anything, because he is definitly more of a playmaker than a scorer. anyways, i certainly hope that he does prove you wrong, not in spite of you....though if he does pick up his point producion it will definitly lead to a better post season for us.

i wouldnt either, the playoffs are a long ways away... Point being, you, and most other people on these boards know that hes one of the most talented players on this team, and in the league. So as far as im concerned him breaking out in the playoffs is bound to happen.

as of right now Lang has a record of producing more in the playoffs, hopefully datsyuk explodes this coming year in the playoffs, we all know he has the talent to, i just dont understand why he hasnt yet. He would fetch a better return though, that is true.

I'd trade Lang for a winger before Datsyuk....as Lang's production on any line wont be as high as Datsyuk's. plus Holland wont let Datsyuk slip away, we all know this.

Id say Thornton will win it again this year id also love to see ovechkin win it, maybe the year after next he'll have someone on his team to help his cause

Hey does anyone know where to find eklund's "e scale" or whatever, E4 is supposed to be pretty substantial isnt it? maybe that he heard this carter thing from a few different sources?

i went with dats....just because if i was a goalie.....they would all score on me but datsyuk has a thing for making goalies look rediculous, which he would surely do to me.
