To the local authorities. Thievery can not be condoned. (i kid i kid!)

Its no coincidence that the two most entertaining series so far for me, Pitt vs Ott and SJ vs Nash, are the two that have featured all 3 of those aspects. Im not really endorsing the cheapshots, but they certainly raise the intensity quite a few notches and I absolutely love it. Ok wait..i guess that is kind of an endorsement for more cheap shots! In particular the Pittsburgh series has been great, and one of the more enjoyable ive seen in a long time.

Well, we all remember reading about Trotz being very upset with Hartnell after he gave the Blues the one finger salute last week. This all has me seriously wondering if Barry, out of some ill will, purposefully put Hartnell out there to get attacked last night. Perhaps the knee on knee hit again irritated him? They had a 3 goal lead with only 1 minute remaining, which we all know, is the most ripe time for fisticuffs in the playoffs. Nashville had LAST change, so Trotz seen that Clowe was out there and probably looking to stir things up. There was no conceivable reason to line up Hartnell next to him, other than trying to force Hartnell into fighting him and getting beat up. Now Tootoo ended up coming to his aid but thats beside the point, the fact that Hartnell was out there in a meaningless situation is the key. Now, if you're going to say that Trotz put him out there just because he we wanted to put a fighting lineup out there to counter Clowe, why wouldnt Nichol, whos smaller but a better fighter than Scott (and much less of a player), have been out there instead? Also, I dont believe Weber was out there either?

That was the most unexpected playoff fight in recent memory that i can recall. Not just because it was Comrie, but it being with a 1 goal difference in the 3rd period. Comrie has fought a couple times before, i know he went with Briere once.

I had no idea Jeff Weaver (AJ Burnett) pitched for the Jays. I checked the Hens stats and saw no Tata. Hmmm...injury?

GET DURBIN OUT OF HERE

If theres any fines or suspensions for this i will consider boycotting the rest of the playoffs! Clowe had what, 16 goals this year? And from Nashville's side, Tootoo wasnt the initiator.

WHAT?!! Thats nonsense! Sit Samuelsson, end of story. I could see if this was a situation involving a goaltender, like whats going on in Anaheim, where the backup is winning. But to sit a regular roster player who's ready to go makes zero sense...sorry.
-
Yeah but theres a huge difference and doing that with Thames and doing the same with Clevlen. Clevlen is alot younger and has alot of potential. Thames has been around the block and back a number of times. Having him sit there as your 4th outfielder makes no sense imo, he hasnt done a whole lot in the minors but from the flashes he's shown on the Tigs, he's definitely one of there top 3 or 4 tradeable commodities. You have to do something with a guy like that, either play him or trade him. To have him just sit there and waste away isnt good management.

And right on cue after the Preds score the empty netter. Bell wasnt out there, but what can i say, i am a bloodhound... i sniff out violence!
-
The Pain Train would most definitely be de-railed if he fought Phaneuf!
-
I am hoping more than ever for a 3 goal spread in the Nashville/SJ game. Things will turn really fun when probably Bell goes after Hartnell...all hell shall break loose!

My point is just that Cleary threw some cheapshots of his own in that scrum. So it went both ways, doesnt matter who started it. In no way am i condemning him for that though, nor am i condemning Stuart. I just like to see people call things fairly.
-
Stuart has also fought a few times in his career. If you're making a who acts tougher and doesnt back it up debate, Maltby takes that crown.
-
Wasnt that Cleary attempting to throw glove off punches at somebody who was tangled up with another guy in the scrum? Im assuming that was probably Stuart, if you're calling him chicken s*** Cleary shouldnt get a free pass for that.
-
Yep. Thats the major reason i wasnt too happy with the Sheffield trade and subsequent extension. You'll never be able to move Maggs, and you cant just leave Clevlen rotting in the minors forever. And it doesnt make sense from a value standpoint to have Clevlen as your 4th outfielder sitting on the bench everyday. It'll be a shame to trade him, but what can you do...other than trade Granderson instead.

NFM - This is the first time ive seen this thread, however i did post all my picks a few days ago HERE. Any way i can have those all count since i made them before the playoffs started? If so... here they are again Calgary over Detroit in 6 Anaheim over Minnesota in 5 Vancouver over Dallas in 7 San Jose over Nash in 6 Buff over NYI in 4 NJ over TB in 7 NYR over Atlanta in 6 Pittsburgh over Ottawa in 6

Where'd you come up with that one? Calder doesnt fight, and would get obliterated. If Iggy's fighting, it'll be against Lilja or Markov (most likely Lilja)

Right Now Is This Year's Team Better Than Last Year's?
Lou_Siffer replied to Sleight's topic in General
Better than last year? Sure. But here lies the problem...what other team in the West cant say the same thing? Anaheim is better, as are San Jose and Minnesota. Nashville is much better as well as Vancouver because of Luongo. Calgary is drastically improved offensively, but it remains to be seen whether they'll recapture their physical edge. I guess Dallas is probably the only team thats pretty much the same. -
Still feel exactly the same! Baseball is 162 games, so he comes through in a few games here and there, but what about all the other games where he does absolutely nothing? I dont find Mr C-Mo to be very consistent, thats my problem. Im not saying he sucks, but for a corner outfielder he's really not much above being run of the mill. Personally, I cant wait for Granderson to slide over to his spot next season while Maybin takes center. Now, if only we could find a way to do something with Maggs in right and give Clevlen a crack rather than inevitably trading him. Talk about an athletic outfield..
-
Not that i hate him, but even throughout all his late game heroics last season Craig Monroe is still the one Tiger ive never really cared for.
-
I feel differently. I think at this point, with as good a team as we have, we can afford to take gambles on that 5th slot with a Tata, Jurrjens, or Miller. At the very least, even if they didnt perform well at least they got some experience out of it and you're able to get a look at another guy in your system. With Miner, I just dont see a point...its kinda like playing Josh Langfeld, well obviously hes not THAT bad but you know what i mean. I'd rather take a chance on someone new, the unknown factor, hey maybe Tata comes in and does great. But with Miner, i mean what are the odds that his ERA will be below 5 if he came in as a starter? Probably not that great.

Just go ahead and steal my homework too why dont ya!
