I go to Forbes for my GM insight
-
The fact that the deal seems to make sense with all the extra picks coming Detroit's way makes me think theres at least a little credibility behind it and not just some guy making s*** up. I'd love this move! A few weeks ago i'd have said no way would we do this, but after seeing the Bly trade go down it makes you think anythings possible and Millen is looking to wheel and deal. Probably figures hey if im goin' down, im goin down swingin'!

Thomas Jones was mislabeled (by me included) as a bust when he was in Az. Nobody has been able to do anything behind their line...even James. He looked real good in Chicago...i just dont understand this move. And its not like they really made out either, all they did was swap 2nd rounders! I would have to think they couldve gotten a good bit more trading Benson. i really feel like he'll end up struggling...something about him smells of bust. Minnesota i dont really know about because they have NO QB right now. If they go with Tavarus Jackson theyll be lucky to win 2 games. I still think they'll end up with Brady Quinn, and if he starts right out the gate they wont contend for division. Believe it or not, Green Bay actually seems to have the inside track! (which is pretty pathetic..) Notice my omission of the Lions. In any other year...i wouldve made a claim that thy could take the division. This year im trying something different and just keeping my trap shut

lol, i swear i was just about to hit quote post the instant i read that about Z being gritty but decided to read the rest of the thread first. Since this a love thread, i'll just let it go

lol, those hit stats have never meant anything to me though..since they dont distinguish the quality of the hits.

"Hi, ill take a #1, mammoth size, with a Diet Coke please".

Yeah really, every shift i was just watching him intently thinking to myself "dont hook him Darryl, dont hook him"! I knew just 1 penalty on the guy and this thread would explode to 8 or 9 pages overnight with all the haters saying how he takes dumb penalties. Next chance to scrap it up will be against Kostopolous of LA i guess..

Mark it down, Chicago trading Thomas Jones to the Jets will go down as the worst move of the year. I do not like Benson whatsoever as the full time starter, theyre gonna regret this big time imo. I wouldve traded Benson. This combined with the usual year after Super Bowl letdown, i see the Bears falling back to 8-8 at this point.

Anyone else suprised at how much ice time Bootland got, even in the 3rd? I was glad to see him thrown onto the Draper line. Hussey/Ellis/Langfeld barely played... No scrap unfortunately though, i seen him take a couple runs at Weber but nothing came of it.

Lets look at the underlying issue here. No the Wings didnt risk alot in terms of what they gave up, however, they did risk alot in the fact they had a big hole for a top 6 winger going in and have their hopes now pinned on Bert. If he doesnt play, then that need went unaddressed. It would be as if they did nothing significant at the deadline while 2 already strong teams added major players in Forsberg and Guerin. Looking at it that way, it is a big risk.

:rotflmao: Funniest one so far

Look at it this way. At the very least, if he goes with Tootoo thats 2 less shifts Jordin will have to run everyone over Im just saying as far as offense goes, replacing Bootland with any of those guys is a wash. None of them will score. So as long as he's not taking costly penalties or committing alot of turnovers theres only upside to having him in there instead. I think hitting and fighting brings more energy to the team than just cycling the puck imo. Oh, Langfield could definitely be worse...i wont argue that!! I have a bad feeling that Hordichuk goes after Bootland, he'll probably do the turtle thing to try and draw a penalty. I cant see them fighting, nor would i expect Bootland to unless Hordichuk does something that necessitates a response.
-
Ok, i see your point on that. Its all out of frustration...frustration for not having a player like Bootland on the 4th line, and frustration for seeing other posters criticize him for not being able to skate and not being good enough. So what if Langfeld can skate better! Whats he doing with that extra speed? Nothing! You know? At least Bootland can provide something in an area thats lacking. I'll leave Ellis alone for the time being, but the other two i cant see being contributors in any fashion...hence the phrase "useless scrubs". I guess "non - contributors" would be a nicer way to put it..
-
Get over Bootland? Do you even read my posts or do you just skim and see the name Bootland and assume im some gung ho fan of his? He could fight 3 times tomorrow and get his ass whooped in each and it still wouldnt change the fact that him being in the lineup makes considerable more sense than say, Matt Hussey. What im in support of is a physical player being inserted into the lineup, and with Bootland being basically it down in GR other than Norton that makes him the guy. It cant hurt at all to give him another shot. If you dont like him, blame management for not having other alternatives. Yeah Hussey, Ellis, and Langfeld are great...are they scoring any? No. Are they hitting? No. So theyve had a few scoring chances. Im impressed, where are the results again? Ellis im not as against as i am Hussey and Langfeld. He's not as bad. Langfeld, in particular, has played 25 some odd games and done crap. He needs to be the first one out of the 4 when someone comes back.

Sooooooo.......who won the marathon?
-
Fischer?? Thats outlandish! If you put him up there, where does it end? Guess you gotta throw Greg Johnson's up there too! What a ceremony that would be!
-
I'd rather bring back Uweziouke! (or whatever the hell his name was!) Hmmm...5 years for DeWayne White. Ok, yhis one's all on you Marinelli. If he doesnt produce, your ass is gone cause that means you cant judge talent at your forte position.
-
Hmmmm....i would but i dont wanna root against Bootland! Plus, its not like im completely sold on the fact Tootoo wins, with 2 middleweights like that anythings really possible. I'll remember you called it though! I'd be more shocked if he were to beat Weber than Tootoo. How about Booter- Hordichuk?
-
Yeah, that goes to what i said about Tootoo being drastically improved now. It wasnt that long ago that Dandenault of all people didnt fair all that badly against Tootoo. If him and Dandy fought now Tootoo would pulverize him.
-
Or worst case scenario he gets the Mark Major hat trick. Loses his fight, takes a penalty resulting in a goal, and is sent down after the game
-
Exactly. Ive wanted Bootland up for the simple fact these guys we have up now are crap. Its not that i think he's good or im a big fan. He's whats there so that makes him the guy. I mean really, what the hell purpose is there having a Langfeld or Hussey in the lineup? They do NOTHING! My point about the fight comparison was mainly who the tougher line would be. And we both know thats BY A MILE the old Probert line. Probert just wasnt all that great in his final years with Chicago...i wouldnt be surprised if Norton edged him or got a draw. But i was deciding that fight as Probert on the Wings in his prime.
-
All we'd see out of Norton is him eating a few Hordichuk rights while he attempts for the takedown the whole fight and eventually, falls down. From an entertainment perspective, give me Bootland...even if that means Tootoo or Weber opens up a can on him
-
If he wants a decent showing, Scott Nichol is the more favorable matchup for him. But if he wants an impact, (and i dont just mean one to his face lol) he has to step up to Tootoo... The funny thing is just a couple years ago this wouldve been a pretty even matchup going in...but Tootoo has drastically improved.
-
Oh definitely...i wouldnt give Booter much of a chance to win going in. But at least theyll be somebody on the team ready to go with him when Tootoo gets out of line...err.."off track".
