What? I posted before reading the article and assumed since it was an espn link, that he was retiring from the NHL (hence the suprised reaction).
-
He still plays?! wtf?
-
He WAS exposed to waivers at the start of the season and went unclaimed. Now whether he has to clear again probably doesnt matter, if he didnt get claimed then i dont see why he would now.
-
My point is only current hockey fans would be the ones paying attention.
-
A person who isnt an avid fan already could give two flying s***s about the trade deadline. This is not like the all-star game debacle. That was a GAME, in which your best players are showcased. In that case, you want new viewers to flip it on and see what its all about. Thats why the scheduling of it was so piss poor and it got completely lost in the shuffle. But this is a friggin deadline we're talkin' about here! How does Barry Melrose and the gang being on ESPN talking about trades increase your fanship? Why would non NHL fans have any interest whatsoever in that? They'd turn the channel.
-
Only hockey fans care about the trade deadline. Its not like some person who barely watches hockey would care where Guerin is going anyway. You dont gain new fans with trade deadline talk on tv...so i really dont understand what your point is at all. Hockey fans will find out trade info on their own, dont need ESPN for that.

Hey come on! He only knees the people that deserve it...ok ok only kidding there But what ive always admired about Marchment is his willingness to account for his actions. Yeah he's dirty, no denying that...but he was a tough s.o.b. He'll always be one of my favorites!
-
Grit, determination, toughness, knee on knee hits....what more could you ask for in a player. Bryan Marchment- kickin' ass and takin' knees.
-
I agree completely! I was actually in the other room while the game was on, only when i heard them talk about players coming together did i come sprinting to the tv. I had no idea that big a hit had even taken place till they showed the replay.
-
Hey is that my boy Marchment?!!
-
I love big hits dirty or clean, hell i dont care. I just want bodies flying around...great job by Kronwall!
-
Dave, Dave, Dave...didnt you learn with Mark Mowers?
-
Oh, so because Langfield can skate better he should be on the team instead,...aside from the fact he provides zero benefit to the team being in the lineup?

Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down
Lou_Siffer replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
Then will you admit, if the Wings fail at the deadline, that Holland made a major blunder in the offseason? I dont believe Holland should be given credit for not overpaying now, which many are doing, because the inactivity in the offseason is what led the Wings to the point of having to overpay. He gets no kudos for that. Get it? -

How so? THEN- "We're going to save our cap space for the deadline to address our needs then" (was this NOT the strategy that everyone talked about?) NOW- "The prices are too high for what we need, we may do nothing". Doesnt sound like the right stategy, does it? Whatever the result, it'll prove that it was wrong. Either they'll do nothing or they'll end up overpaying. -

At the risk of sounding redundant...i'll say it again anyway. Shouldve filled your major needs last offseason, genius! -
But he is THAT bad! He brings nothing whatsoever to the table. Every player should have a niche, something they do well...whether its being a scorer, good defender, hitter, grinder, fighter..etc. Langfeld is useless!
-
Bootland does nothing but fight, Ellis does nothing at all. Hmmm....tough call but i'll go with the guy who at least has 1 quality! At least you'd notice he's playing. Im just advocating Bootland over Ellis, Langfeld, and Hussey is all. I am in no way saying i'd want him as the tough guy...theres probably 100 guys i'd want over him.
-
But it wasnt just a hit Gordie, i dont think theres any question that if you're sitting on Buffalo's bench...you would see it as a dirty blow to your star by an opposing tough guy. This was not "just another hit". No, Neil didnt drop his gloves with Drury...however, isnt there actually a better chance of someone getting injured as a result of a dirty hit than in a fight? So in that respect, the two scenarios are not that far apart. And to Buffalo's credit, Mair (a somewhat comparable player to Neil) is the guy who went after Spezza and not Peters. What if you cant get any good runs on Alfreddson, do you go out of way and make it a dirty blow? Because you know eventually, someone would go that route. I just think its better to respond right away by throwing out your toughs...sends the message better. As others have said, thats just too bad on Murray's part he had those guys out there. He shouldve expected it.
-
I guess anything is better than Langfeld. But...this is just another guy who will do nothing. Why not just recall Bootland...i mean really, i aint sayin' hes good or anything, but he's no worse than these bums.
-
No...although i didnt think they reacted enough. The type of player delivering the blow has alot to do with it. Agreed. Hopefully the next game tonight isnt a dud...which i expect it to be. Watch for 5 penalties to be called within the first 5 minutes.
-
Keep in mind 99% of the time games like this with expectations for blood turn out be nothing, as both teams end up playing timid knowing the refs will call it extremely tight and all the big wig disciplinarians will be watching closely. I wouldnt expect anything.

Removing this from the trades i dont care about file

Not so fast. It depends where you live in the US. Its always been pop to me...soda sounds like a term from the 50's.

Assuming we're talkin' PS2, im 95% sure i'll be getting the Sony version, MLB 07 The Show. That was recognized by most as the best one for PS2 last year. I had 2k5 two years ago and although there were things i liked about it, i came across a ton of glitches and problems. An insane number of wild pitches, minor league stats not accumulating, injuries glitches, etc. I didnt even play last years version because of it. I'm gonna check out reviews for both though before i make the final decision!
