Damn. Well i hope he'd be willing to leave the family for a few months! Like i said he could always just re-sign with Philly in the offseason if he really wants to play there. By the way, that avatar is hilarious!
-
I'd deal Kindl as well as Hudler....but wouldnt Flip unless it was for something real good and not just a rental. My point really is that we all know this team needs toughness and grit up front...Holland even says so. Moves could have been made to address it last offseason, but werent, with the talk being it would be addressed at the deadline. If its not done now, then the whole plan was a farce.
-
Alright, you've reached your 1 post a year quota. See ya next season!
-
I'll take the gritty forward. Ok ....when do i get it?!
-
Fedoruk would immediately add that presence to the lockeroom that theyre no longer wimpy. I bet you'd see alot of guys' physical games stepped up a notch. Now, he wont be had for the 4th rounder the Flyers gave up...it'll be more than that. Have to give the Flyers a reason to make the trade....a mid-level prospect will probably do.
-
Markov hardly helps the need for grit at forward. I dont know the specifics of the cap money but what i do know is Holland was offering 4 million, possibly 4.5, to Shanahan. Money was there to make additions upfront. All i remember hearing was that Kenny would wait till the deadline to address these needs...well over the next 10 days is that time. If he's not willing to part with anything via trade then what, he's biding his time till next offseason?
-
Nevermind, just looked it up. Fedoruk will be a free agent...give the Flyers a decent offer and im sure he can be had.
-
Todd Fedoruk, ...theres one name for ya. Does anyone know the status of his contract? Im hoping he's only on a year deal, i cant remember what he re-signed with Anaheim for. If its for more than 1 year, then Philly may want to keep him since i know they like having him. But if he's due for free agency, they could trade him knowing they could just sign him back in the offseason (like Doug Weight with St Louis)

If you're attempting to make a point that having enforcers doesnt stop anything...this is not a good example. It actually fuels the opposite argument since Colton Orr is scratched and Fedoruk is running roughshot with no one to fight him.

Anyone Else Feel That Nashville Will Become A True Rival?
Lou_Siffer replied to TheChosenOne's topic in General
Yep, like that writer from Yahoo said...you cant have a rivalry in hockey without fighting. Its not possible. -
Oh. My. God. You do realize thats the equivalent of Detroit trading Kronwall and Filpulla for a couple role players and picks.
-
No way in hell would Horton go as well. Your strait jacket awaits!
-
Thats cool, Homer is a keeper. As long as i dont see the names Schneider, Lang, or Maltby and the word extension in the same sentence....then we'll have a problem!
-
I was half joking, but i think there is some validity to my comment. Im sure after what the Preds gave up they started negotiating on an extension right away....at least thats what i'd think. If you come across as being unhappy you're more likely to sweeten the pot for yourself. And considering Forsberg's health issues, maybe he feels he can get the most right now since the Preds will be desperate to keep him to make the trade look better.
-
Maybe thats just a business tactic YG I.E. "I'm not happy now, but i'll BE happy if you sign me to fat extension!"
-
I dont see much of a point in doing that considering the type of players the Wings need to acquire are coveted by multiple teams. Its not like a team such as St Louis would lower their asking price cause "Holland doesnt think he needs to make a trade"....they'll just trade their guys to one of the other probably 5 or 6 teams interested. I think that tactic is only useful for the borderline sellers to increase the trade offers they recieve. I.E. if the Blues came out and said.."We arent really that far out of the playoff hunt, Im not sure we need to trade Guerin or Tkachuk". They would then probably get better trade offers as a result...thats how the tactic is useful.
-
I guess the jist of what im saying is if he's not willing to give up anything good in trade then what was the purpose of saving all the cap space.
-
The thing is alot of this pent up frustration people like myself and Barnes have still goes back to the way Holland spent the whole offseason dicking around with Shanahan and not signing someone like Guerin. The explanation then for not signing any gritty forwards was that Holland didnt think the time was right and would leave all that cap space for the trade deadline. Now, if you go by Holland's history and what we read, the Wings arent willing to put up anything of significance to acquire anybody. So if we just go and do something stupid and trade for a guy no one else wants like Sergei Fedorov (thats just my own personal rumor people, dont blow your brains out yet lol) then not making any signings wasnt smart at all. Why was that cap space not used to address needs at forward last offseason? Know what im saying? I know theres still time and everything, so im not crucifying Holland yet. I just dont really feel too good about the type of players we're gonna end up getting..
-
Exactly. We sat and wait while Kenny "bided his time", as people like to say, and signed none of that playoff grit we were supposed to get in the offseason. The upcoming deadline is now D-day for him, time to show that waitng it out and signing nobody was the right move. Now we're hearing from Holland about how trade prices are too high and whatnot...well buddy then why didnt you f'n SIGN some guys in the offseason then! Did you not expect this?
-
Topics like this make me laugh. Schneider isnt being traded nor is Lang. Its like people forget who's the GM...its not happening!
-
Unfortunately im williling to bet Williams, a 2nd rounder, and probably a lower-mid range prospect is probably all Holland is offering around. That wont get Tkachuk or Guerin, somebody will trump that easily. What we're inevitably looking at acquiring is someone who's overpaid and not performing to expectations, a player who's team will accept a crappy offer because no other team is bidding on him. Think about it, when's the last time Holland really gave up alot in a trade? It doesnt happen, and thats not gonna get you a player other teams are after. Somebody like Sergei Fedorov actually fits my criteria of the type we'll get perfectly.
-
and traded WHO? (eagerly awaiting the inevitable Lang or Datsyuk response)
-
If you really think Laraque can be had for a 3rd rounder you're delusional! The best fighter in the league with nearly 30 points to boot sure as hell will garner more than that lame pick.
-
Ok, lets pretend for a minute that Sundin is actually going to be traded (which i HIGHLY doubt)...why on god's green earth would the Maple look to acquire 35(?) year old Robert frickin' Lang for him?!! What the hell would be the point? Think logically!!
-
Come on now Osgod! Roy beat Osgood...i dont understand how anybody could see it another way. Hell since stamina wins fights i guess Darren Langdon is undefeated! Of all the names you could choose from....lol. You picked a combined total of probably 3 career fights. Colombus has a few Euros who will go in Svitov and Toellefsen (sp?) , theres also Ruutu and Petrovicky. There are some out there, just not many.
