I do not think that would interest Texas. I believe either Bonderman has to be involved, or prospects would have to be included with Robertson (i.e. Sanchez and Clevlen). Or perhaps they'd bite on Shelton, Robertson, and Clevlen..
-
If Monroe is traded, they could maybe sign a 1yr stop-gap if Maybin isnt ready. Or maybe Clevlen has another great spring and plays LF, i agree on Thames....dont want him being the every day guy out there. But he is a good insurance policy. Now if you're wondering why not just keep Monroe there for another year, well that goes back to my point about his trade value being at its peak right now. I also do not want Bonderman moved, i want him, Verlander, and Miller to be our version of the old Zito, Mulder, and Hudson trio.

I think thats doubtful. Reason being is the pollsters carry a "what have you done for me lately" attitude. Meaning if 2 teams have 1 loss the one that lost last is usually lower ranked. Loser of UM/OSU will just automatically be dropped to #3. It shouldnt be like that but thats just the way its always been. There would have to be a big difference in the BCS pts going into the game to overcome that flip flop.

I hate when people bring up career stats when arguing in defense of an old player. This is all that really matters eva - 05/06 Murray 24G 29A 53Pts, Bell 25G 23A 48 pts. Very similar numbers. Now, lets factor in that Bell is a more complete player with the monstrous advantage in the physical play category. So yes, Mark Bell is better than Glen Murray. What Murray did 5 years ago has no bearing on today.

Well my thinking is that it would be more of a challenge to him to sign with another bad team for huge bucks and attempt another all out rebuild. Or even dare i say it, no i wont say it...umm *cough* Steinbrenner *cough*. I think that should be our biggest fear right now. Dombrowski is the most important guy in this organization, we can not afford to lose him. I'd like to get a SS, and move Guillen permanently to 1B. Casey will probably go back to Pittsburgh i bet, I know he liked it there and i believe its his hometown if im not mistaken. I would love to get Teixera if we could, and i know Texas has always liked Nate Robertson....so maybe something involving him, Clevlen, and another prospect could get it done. I like Nate but with Miller coming up he's expendable. Monroe's value will never be higher than it is now, i think now's the time to move him...the spot will have to be cleared out eventually anyways for Cameron Maybin. However im just not sure theyd deal Monroe right now given all the heroics he had during the year.

I dont know why this thought is in my head, and theres no basis for it, but im scared that Dave Dombrowski will jump to another team. Like he's proved himself yet again and will now look for a new challenge. He strikes me as that kind of guy. Does anyone know his contract status?

Im friggin pissed! Its just the way they went out that kills me. I mean, if they had lost to a healthy loaded Mets team with Pedro and all that, I'd stand up and applaud the effort. But to go down to the likes of Weaver just leaves a knot in my stomach...like i cant believe they actually lost to these guys, and 4-1 to boot! I keep thinking about their pitching staff and wondering HOW this happened. I know in a few days ill be over it and proud of what the Tigers accomplished, but right now, damn this just stings. At least they did go down to a top notch baseball city with great fans, thats about the only positive thing i feel right now. Thank you Sean Casey for showing up and playing your heart out, thats why i wanted you here.

Disagree on both counts. That was far from a perfect angle, and in fact, reminded me of how i misplay every fly ball in softball! It wasnt a huge misplay by any means, but it wasnt the right angle. I didnt see any shoddy calls for Zumaya either. My biggest issue with the Monroe non-catch was why they had him playing so damn shallow, considering the at bat prior Eckstein had just hit one pretty deep to center. I was like "what the f***!!!" when i seen how in he was, i figured the ball would be caught when he hit it. I still have hope by the way! If they win tonight, theyll take the next 2. I was thinking the same thing at the time as well.

Could easily be due to the layoff, im still as confident as ever. If they lose this one though...well, i dont wanna talk about that!!!
-
I cant wait to see friggin Weaver pitch here in gm 2, too bad Bondo isnt going for Detroit. I have a feeling Weaver will get seriously rocked early...like one of those 2IP 7ER deals.

nm, joke a little to tasteless lol

Theres a reason s***'s banned. He knew the rules, he's a professional athlete, im a die hard fan but i have no sympathy.
-
11-5 anyone? Nice dig at Kitna by the announcer too when he threw that one pick on the deepball..."THATS CLASSIC KITNA!!!" lol usually they are arent so blunt like that.
-
27 more outs to go!
-
LIONS - 21 RAIDERS -13 (with Andrew Walter at QB) RAIDERS - 34 (with Jeff George at QB) LIONS - 27 You know how those old timers look 10 years younger against the Lions...
-
Although Vance calls a better game than Pudge imo, with the way the pitchers are going thats just not something i'd mess with at this point. Unfortunately Perez has to go in, i definitely wouldnt want Santiago in there. And they must not like Infante at SS.
-
Backus has been ok i guess, but ive always viewed him as a dissapointment and being a little overrated. Not a total bust, but just not that good. One guy on the Lions line though thats heavily overrated by the national media is Dominic Raiola. I mean i hear these announcers talking about how good he is and im sitting here wondering what the f*** theyre watching! (or better yet what theyre NOT watching!) We were oh so close to getting Steve Hutchinson too, but Seattle nabbed him just ahead of us and we had to settle with Backus. Ill never forget that..

I know its fun to speculate and all, but really whats the point? Datsyuk and Lang arent getting traded at this point and we all know it.
-
Brady Quinn will be NOTHING in the NFL, I'd stake everything on that. Well just like every year around this time its gotten to a comedy standpoint with me. I was laughin my ass off with the Kitna fumble and then that pick at the end. We need to get a g-d damn DE, whether its FA or in the draft...im tired of this James Hall/Corey Redding bulls***. Let Rogers actually have someone good to complement him.
-
Last I seen on the ESPNews ticker, which was roughly 7-ish, still had Robertson listed as GM 1 starter

Just had to edit something in there better! Tigers in 5!
-
This is officially last year's White Sox folks...get ready for that WS title! Unbelievable celebration, i had to pound some brews myself on the couch wishing i was there. It was great to see, given that the home crowd had yet to have a celebration since we clinched playoffs at KC and then didnt win the division. I mean you never know what could happen, if we were to lose to Oakland, it would be a shame to not party down with the home fans at least once after this awesome season. Have to savior the moment. Anyone else think some jackass will end up trying to sue Rogers for getting champagne on them? lol. It wont happen to anyone else BUT him!
-
Yeah thats right, originally i remember hearing that he allegedly choked him...and then it was changed to just by the collar.
-
Im also one of the people who believe the Tigers will win it all if they win this series! I cant believe this...1 game away from beating the f'n Yankees! While watching this game i couldnt help thinking back to all those losing seasons i watched, and wondering what it would be like to actually see them become something again. It brought a tear to my eye! (well not really, but you get the point!) One conclusion i drew from this game...i can definitely now picture Kenny Rogers choking somebody lol (not saying that incident really happened) The guy looked like a madman out there!
-
Definitely liking our chances, but we have to finish these bastards in the next 2! What a win this was, really nice to see Granderson stepping up too. And Zumaya...wow that was straight up ownage today
