    2006 ALDS: Tigers vs Yankees

Im just going by what Leyland said. I dont have any direct quotes but the jist last week was that they'd like to win the division, but the playoff rotation would be his #1 priority. From that standpoint it just doesnt make alot of sense to use Rogers if he was his penciled in Gm1 guy considering he had Mike Maroth at his disposal (who had even briefly warmed up earlier in the game actually) So it wasnt an emergency situation. Maroth, not even being on the playoff roster, couldve gone for more than a few innings..

That reminds me of a shirt i remember seeing last year. "Detroit Lions - Rebuilding since '57" (i think it was '57). Friggin hilarious, i shouldve bought one. I wonder if theyre still around.

But then again Leyland also gave us the impression over the last week that the rotation of the playoffs would be first and foremost on his mind after the Tigers clinched. It seems if Rogers was to be his guy for gm 1he wouldnt have juggled everything up by using him Sunday. He may have wanted Nate all along.

Yeah i think the criticism is bulls***. I mean of all the guys in the staff, i have reasons to be scared of them pitching in Yankee stadium...all except for Nate. Rogers sure as hell makes me nervous there, but not at home.No matter what happens i think this was the best decision.

Yes, from what i remember hearing he's horrible there..

Detroit Tigers should have been AL Central Champs!

Stairs has done all his damage against righties and hits .217 against lefties with only 1HR...13K's in 46 ABs. He was a clear strike out candidate. Perez has played like s*** but i liked his chances of reaching better than Matt's at that point. Maybe you should think about those things before making a stupid comment about Leyland. You guys can complain, i'll relish in the fact that a team predicted to finish 4th place took the wild card.

    2006 ALDS: Tigers vs Yankees

Oh my god...if going through what i did yesterday is an indication of how im gonna be come playoff time, i better get some on medication or something! Full blown butterflies, sweating, hands over the mouth, rocking back and forth...i had it all going on in those latter innings. Oh well, no use complaining. We're in the f***in playoffs!!! Ive heard some criticism over the choice of Robertson in gm1, and i gotta say, i actually really like the choice. I'd much rather see the bulldog mentality of Nate in Yankee stadium than i would Rogers. I think he's a perfect choice, and actually the one im most comfortable with pitching there out of the 5.

I think that Roy WIlliams first down pose is hilarious! Just something about seeing a guy on a winless team talk smack...i laugh every time! Mike Furrey is the man, lock this guy up. Even if he's eventually just a #3 or whatever...the guy can play. Its nice to finally have signed a WR and have it actually work out! Schroeder, Hakim, Jefferson, K Johnson, Bradford...the list goes on and on. The defense is deplorable, god does Fletcher suck. The bad thing is i dont see improvement coming any time soon. As others have said...theres just nothing there aside from Rogers at this point. Sims at least you can hope for, but with the rest of these guys(aside from Bullocks)...what they are now is what theyll always be. Theyve already reached their ceilings. It could take a couple years to rebuild this, and by that time Martz will be gone and we'll be having problems on offense again. Its a vicious cycle, that is of course, unless we make Martz the HC to stop him from walking. (NOT saying we should) I heard there was no cap on coaches though, so hell, just throw a s***load of money at him to stay here as OC.

    Wings/Ducks trade idea

Yes, i guess i would at this point, but thats seriously not saying much at all. Markov being better than Beauchemin...i totally disagree. I think he's just ok, certainly not very solid. Its funny, I think we are complete opposites, i dont think ive ever agreed with ANY of your posts!

    Wings/Ducks trade idea

You cant possibly be thinking Markov is better than Beauchemin are you? As for those several young prospects...please, Detroit is very thin on defense prospects. To make a statement that several will be as good or better is ludicrous.

Fire Marinelli This was a horrific display. In spurts, watching the O makes you think theres something there. Then they just blow it and dont score. The defense got eaten alive, the good thing for Grossman is he doesnt even have to wash his jersey for next week's game. I feel very confident in saying, well make that pretty confident...nah kinda confident, ...err, im leaning towards the Lions beating the Pack the next week!

    Detroit interested in Marleau

My problem is that its like you're not even factoring in age. You cant just look at Schneider's stats and say ok, he has alot of trade value because of this. The guy is 37 years old, not every guy around that age is able to sustain their level of play like Lidstrom. Theres always the high risk that this will be the year he really shows his age and breaks down. He's a short term acquisition, and because of that his value is diminished significantly. Now am i saying SJ wouldnt want him for a year? Absolutely not, im just saying theres no way they give up Kyle McLaren for him. If they felt they could move McLaren, they would look to exchange him for a younger offensive dman than Matt (like Sheldon Souray for an off the top of my head example). So that is why i felt your proposals were WAY off, because we also know that Marleau has alot more value than Datsyuk as well...which made the deals way too lopsided.

And thats great news, all i care about is what the team furthest away from our spot did, i just wanna get in the playoffs! I still think Chicago will overtake Minnesota though, even though they keep winning i still sense a losing streak coming.

I honestly cant remember, i was gonna say the White Sox but that was a 2-2 split. Hmmm..... Why is it that it seems like every AFLAC trivia question has to do with Jack Morris and a staff from the 80's?

    Detroit interested in Marleau

Why is it that i find almost all of your posts to be of the insane variety? Those trade proposals are just utterly ridiculous...im sorry. And wasnt it you who mentioned a Marleau for Schneider swap before? You VASTLY overrate Schneider's value.

I agree on Roy, the dude is lazy on his routes. He's like never on the same page with the QB. I was shocked by that one stat they showed of KJ not having a 100 yrd game since god knows how long. You think he has so many more yards than what he ends up with! Its because he gets 1 good run, then 3 or 4 that are stuffed for negative yardage. I dont know if its him just trying to dance and juke every play or if its the line.

TURN AROUND BRYSON! Jesus... Mike Furrey actually looked pretty damn good out there, itll be nice to have a 3rd reciever who can catch. At least they did take some shots down the field, but every throw seemed to be into double or triple coverage to Roy and not even close. Next week will be the true test, cause if this is the same old Lions they will get annihilated by the Bears. On the defensive side i really liked what i saw out of Ernie Sims, he was everywhere and made some pretty nice hits. And amazingly Fernando Bryant didnt even get burned at all..
