I hope Colon doesnt get any starts,..besides him not being very good he couldnt go more than 5 innings at best anyway (and thats assuming he's actually getting people out!) I want Tata to get a crack, or Sanchez for a couple if his arm is ok.
-
You hate to see that happen to Kenny, but what can ya do. The guy's been stinking it up. I dont know about Durbin, yeah he's pitching well at Toledo, but still. Personally i'd rather just see the more talented Tata. Leyland is all about talent, no matter how much experience they have. His arm will be fresh for the long haul given that he was coming out of the pen for us in the beginning of the year.
-
I was actually just thinking about that a few minutes ago while on the can, lol. I dont even think it'll take that long, Maybin will be ready by 2008...he's that good. Next season he'll be in AA, since he's tearing up A ball. Magglio will still be here but he'll have to DH, talk about having 3 great athletes in the OF! You know the defense will be outstanding. I'm so happy we got Casey.
-
I forgot about them getting McDougal last week, I do think that was a good move. I hadnt given this much thought cause my mind has been so occupied with possible trades, but in another month i'd like to see Sanchez and even Tata called up for the pen. Might as well use these guys for the stretch run and playoffs, ditch Colon, Ledezma, or Grilli if need be.

Who will the Detroit Tigers play in the Divison Series?
Lou_Siffer replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
I'll say the Yanks. I think Minnesota needed a bat to take the WC and the White Sox just havent been looking good. I hope im wrong though. -
All this talk about Soriano and he goes nowhere!!! What a waste of air time and completely stupid on the Nats part, unless they come right out with an agreement on a contract extention. This was an all out win for the Tigers, with Minnesota, Chicago, Anaheim, Oakland, and even Boston doing nothing. Soriano on Minnesota or Anaheim couldve spelled a little trouble.

It is true for all teams, but i think its more true for Pitt than probably any other team. Parker I just think isnt particularly good and is totally a product of the line imo.
-
Pittsburgh will be fine without Randle El and the Bus,...as long as their O-line stays healthy. Willie Parker wouldnt do anything without them, the line is the key.
-
True, but for a seller like the Phillies i dont think it would really matter if they just plugged someone from the minors in the OF. Plus i think theyre still wanting to deal Pat Burrell, so the Abreu deal isnt stopping that. So if they dont deal Pat the Bat, Dellucci could still go.
-
Shaun Rogers injures his shoulder at practice...great...i hope this isnt serious. This is the one the guy they can not afford to lose.
-
I agree with that, Im on the fence with Soriano...it really depends on the package we're giving up. Im a little more for it now than i was before though, since we got Casey now who wont be K'ing all the time. Im right with you on Dellucci, and 1 bullpen trade (although its not life or death..)
-
This is sweet, now we have a smart lefty hitter, just what the team needed...and we lost NOTHING. Hell theres still the chance we could trading for another hitter too, as this is no way rules out Soriano.
-
Im so pumped right now im ready to start rioting in the streets! As for Shelton, oh well, if you take out his first 13 games he really hasnt done anything...and he really needs to work on his swing. Could always come back later in the year. Tigers gave up Brian Rogers...great trade.
-
Really tough loss to watch, but at least Clevlen had a nice game. Wouldnt be surprised to see him dealt for someone like Dellucci now. Abreu to the Yanks yesterday, they still need pitching though. This is gonna be a really fun day today, i love deadline day...especially now that we actually have a contender! A few rumors for this morning: Jason Schmidt being targeted by the BoSox and Mets (i hope to god Boston doesnt get him) Soriano apparantly down to 3 teams...Astros, Angels, and the longshot Marlins. The AL Central teams appear to be backing off Lidge possibly to Texas Maddux to the Dodgers Also it was reported that the Tigers offered Roman Colon to the Rockies for Jose Mesa. I am all for dealing Colon for some added late inning bullpen help, but I f'n HATE Jose Mesa. Colorado turned the deal down anyways..

Have to wait till tomorrow to give my vote, alot of it depends on where Soriano goes and if the White Sox add any pitching. -
Say what you will about T.O., but I predict Dallas to be Super Bowl bound. AFC is indeed wide open, out of the favorites however im ruling out Indy. I'm convinced the combination of Manning and Dungy will never get there...I for one will not be buying into the Colts hype whatsoever throughout the season. I like Cincy depending on how Palmer's knee recovery goes of course.
-
I think this has a one game showcase written all over it. The word is that the Tigers are trying to offer Clevlen in a Soriano package instead of Cameron Maybin. Although he's stinking it up Clevlen is still one of their top position prospects, so theyre probably hoping he goes out today and shows a little something to interest the Nats or possibly even someone else.

Good point. I really dont care what the Rangers do...they can load up all the bats they want, I aint scared. Even if Lee went back to the Sox,..oh well, I'd be more afraid if they acquired a starting pitcher, their lineup is already loaded. But if the Twins had gotten him..now that would most definitely be scary!! The 3 scenarios that worry me the most are: 1) The Twins acquiring a big bat (given thier payroll restrictions that makes this not likely though) 2) The Angels getting Soriano (i see this happening...hopefully E Santana will be going to the Nats, weaken their SP ) 3) The White Sox getting a good starter (not likely with who's available) I see us ending up with Dellucci.
-
Well, so much for Carlos Lee... Carlos Lee, minor leaguer Nelson Cruz(not the one we used to have lol), and a PTBNL going to the Texas Rangers for Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mench, and Laynce Nix. Clearly this is the Brewers attempt at staying moderately competitve the rest of the year and not totally losing faith of the fans by acquiring major league players instead of prospects.
-
Add on Gaustad and its a deal. Wont happen though, ugh...ive had it with these all these trade rumors.
-
I dont know, its gonna take me a little while to get sold on DY again. I definitely dont want Shawn Green or Gonzo either. Detroit is said to be a player in the run for Carlos Lee. With every game the Brewers lose the chances of him being traded increase. I'm betting we could get him for Sanchez, Jurrjens, and Monroe. Similar to what the Nats want but instead of having to part with a top prospect like Maybin as the 3rd player(which is RIDICULOUS) i think Monroe would be good enough for the Brewers.
-
Well that means they either beat Seattle or won at Chicago, so i think i'll have legit reasons to get my hopes up! I know what you mean though. I dont know, something just feels different about this season.
-
Every damn year i pick the Lions to go 10-6, and it never happens. Ive definitely learned my lesson, therefore, im predicting the Lions to go 11-5. Maybe its the way the Tigers have turned everything around, but I think this years coaching staff is gonna turn into a massive improvement. Their O-line still seems like garbage, but with Martz running the show on O anything is possible. I'm really excited to see the new offense, and i expect a big year out of Roy Williams....and even out of Charles Rogers if he stays healthy and out of trouble.
-
You can read into this all you want, but both Humberto Sanchez and Jair Jurrjens (the two pitchers the Nats want) both missed their scheduled starts this week. Coincidence??? Also last Wednesday, there were 4 scouts at Toledo's game to watch Humberto: The D-Backs (think Shawn Green/Mr Steroids Luis Gonzalez), Pittsburgh (Sean Casey), the Nationals (Soriano), and believe it or not...The Minnesota Twins. I have no idea why the Twins would be scouting him, unless the Tigs and Twins are thinking about a "ill help you, you help me" trade to unite against the White Sox. Thats pretty far fetched though...
-
After what the Nats wanted from us, they better be getting 3 of the White Sox best prospects. They say Brandon McCarthy will not be part of the package, which is pretty surprising. My god is that lineup gonna be scary, luckily for us their pitching has been really shaky. I hope we make a deal for another bullpen guy, Rodney struggled yet again last night...we could use a little more insurance back there.
