It still doesnt make sense from the Buffalo perspective though. Why the hell would they give up their young star player for some old guys? Like i said they could trade Briere somewhere else and fetch someone alot younger. Just for example purposes, they could go to Montreal and probably get Ryder and a couple good prospects. Then they'd still have Biron to use as trade bait to us. So it would move make very little sense to trade Briere to us unless they were getting some youth in the return package likeKronwall. To put things in a different perspective, this is like someone suggesting trading Datsyuk for someone who's 36 yrs old. Would any of you go for it? Hell no...

Detroit wont give up 2 of their top 3 centers. I dont really want Aebischer, but.. Aebischer, Ryder, and Souray, for Datsyuk and Schneider makes alot more sense for both teams

Incorrect, alot of us are all for trading Datsyuk (myself included) but that isnt the right deal. Very few, if any Wings fans would agree to that trade. Forget about getting him unless Ryder is part of the package... I think the only deal you'll find the majority of posters on both sides agreeing to is Lang for Souray straight up.

Im not really asking for both, just saying at least get Dellucci if they dont go for Casey. We have to keep Infante up, or we'd be left with no backups at SS, 2B, and 3B. We need his versatility. Alexis Gomez is the obvious casualty, sending him down and bringing in Dellucci makes alot of sense. Smaller move on paper, but still a huge upgrade. Im not sure how we would work out bringing in Casey, DY kinda puts a wrinkle in the plans. Would be tough having 3 1B's who cant play anywhere else besides DH. It sucks though cause Casey would be so much better for our lineup than Young imo. I really want him here. He'd be unique to the lineup in that he'd be like a lefty Polanco, has flashes of power but is mainly very good contact, doesnt strike out, and has great character.

I hope they dont let DY's return stop their lefty pursuit altogether. The more i watch Shelton and his bad swings, I want Sean Casey more than ever now. Although DY is a 1B, I dont really think they'd feel comfortable defensively (neither would i) with him playing there. Im not saying bench Shelton completely, he can still be cycled in at part time first and DH. At least get Dave Dellucci, he'd be a huge upgrade over Gomez as the lefty OF.

Yeah that would really suck to acquire Abreu only to find out he used to be on the juice!

The Nationals want our top pitching prospect in Humberto Sanchez, another of the top pitching prospects in Jair Jurrjens, and one of our top hitting prospects. It was originally said that hitter would be last year's 1st rounder Cameron Maybin, which the Tigers quickly shot down for good reason. That would be a drastic overpayment, as Maybin is really the one hitting prospect in the whole system that i feel totally condifent saying he's a sure thing. That guy's gonna be a stud. I wouldnt have a problem dealing Miner, as i feel Jordan Tata could step right in and have similar success. Just something about him that makes me think he'll be good. Also his innings pitched are way down since he started in our pen, so you dont have to worry about his arm tiring. I still favor one of the lesser moves like Sean Casey over Soriano and Abreu. Pirates may be willing to take Miner along with maybe Monroe, yeah i know its just not right dealing Monroe after being with us through the down times...but Pitt could use him at CF and we could use Casey.

Yeah, im also wondering if Robertson will avoid his typical second half flop. I never thought id say this but we really need to get Maroth back for the 6 man rotation. Thats a really tough call. The Flyers would NEVER trade Gagne for Lang, I dont care how much of a problem theyre having re-signing him. If they decide to trade him, they could do a hell of alot, and i mean hell of alot better than Lang in return. They would go the prospect route (which they could get a couple good ones), before entertaining the thought of a 36 yr old center making almost 4 mill.

Problem is you will not get a quality scoring winger for Lang given his age and contract. Sheldon Souray is THE best player you can possibly get for him imo. He fills a glaring need for a physical defenseman, brings toughness, and theres no risk in taking on some long contract since he'll be a FA. Thats why this is way too good to pass up if its available. Lets get some ch -ch -changes!! The FA defenseman that are left now all suck. What are we gonna be left with... Markov??

I swear Holland has really rubbed off on alot of you guys. What, do you people want Lang here till he's 40??? He'll be a FA next season, and shouldnt be re-signed if this team is truly looking to the future. Isnt that what alot of the Holland defenders are saying as to why we havent signed anybody? That this upcoming season is just to set the stage for the following year? So what the hell is the use in holding onto Lang for 1 more season if you can get someone who's 5 years younger, fills a need, and if he doesnt play well you just dont re-sign him?? There is simply no argument anyone can give me as to why a Souray trade for Lang shouldnt be made.

This is true, as the Kings would probably offer them a winger like Frolov, and the Sharks certainly wouldnt give up someone like Marleau. I didnt think about that, so yeah, I guess the Wings would have the advantage here like you said. And even if Souray didnt work out here, he'll be a FA next season i think, as is Lang, so theres no harm done. Plays good, re-sign him! If we get confirmation from the local papers in Detroit that this is a legitimate offer, and we dont accept it, its such bulls***.

Thanks Mac. Well im gonna go ahead and give up hope on Souray with the Sharks and Kings being interested. Holland is too unwilling to part with roster players to be able to outbid 2 teams. Thats a damn shame too, if the Habs have actually offered US this deal, and not the other way around. How can you not accept this trade if you're Detroit...this is the kinda thing that gets me pissed.

Its all about needs. The team needs a mean, tough defenseman like Souray. Lang is or will be 36 yrs old next season and is replaceable. If this deal is actually out there and the Wings dont take it, theyre stupid...plain and simple.

Souray/Ryder >>>>>>>>> Lang/Hudler Montreal would be completely foolish to do that

I love this. It wouldve been so easy for this team to lose this series against KC, #1 coming off the allstar break and #2 looking ahead to Chicago. I was a little scared about Jones starting out in the 9th when it was 9-9, he sometimes really struggles in tie games and non save situations. Kenny, you're getting me more worried here! I feel like its been at least 6 starts since he's pitched well. He's avoiding the L though!
