Yippie ki yay!

Some die hard fan you are! Or maybe you're just a fan of the movie?
-
Me too. I was thinking about a sweet ass Bootland/Gaustad/Kopecky line but that is like putting all the eggs in one basket....although it'd be really fun to watch. I think i like your suggestion better of Gaustad with Datsyuk, i think that would work out very well.
-
I believe Connoly is also a FA. The only centerman i could see coming here in the deal is Paul Gaustad, which is who im rooting for. Zetterberg/Datsyuk/Gaustad and either Hudler or Draper could be our the centers, the other would be a wing. Having Gaustad, Kopecky, and Bootland on the team certainly improves the grit department!
-
Yeah that Afinigenov top 10 comment is very ludicrous I would think so too, but im just suggesting that as a possible reason why they'd be interested in another C. Or else them wanting Lang makes no sense at all.
-
With regards to the Buffalo center depth, I feel its noteworthy to mention that Daniel Briere is a RFA. This could be the X-factor. Maybe Briere wants too much money? Could Lang be their fallback plan, or a bargaining chip to get Briere to lower his demands if he wants to stay in Buff? I dont wanna speculate like this cause i have no idea how their negotiations are going, but its just something to think about.

Gaustad!

It makes total sense for the Wings to also acquire Paul Gaustad in any Lang/Biron transaction. He's a perfect 3rd or 4th line center for this team. Not sure what it would take besides Lang but i know it sure as hell wouldnt cost Kronwall.

Horrible trade, Kronwall for f'n Afinogenov...give me a break. Detroit will be paper thin on defense if this were to happen. I'm having a hard time believing it... While I do like Bootland thats a rather ridiculous dropoff going from Kronwall to him.
-
Sure, if Montreal wants to get ass raped in the deal
-
Souray and Aebischer for Lang in a heartbeat! Probably too good to be true, as is the other rumor of Ryder, Souray, and Aebischer for Datsyuk.

Anson Carter A Leaf ( Not Sure If Its Rumour Or Not)

Rumormill my friend -
No, just a made up trade

Last nights HR Derby featured quite possibly the most annoying commentary i have ever listed to. "Hey isnt that your guy Kruk?" "Yeah i picked him from the start!" "HAHAHAHAHA!" "I had my boy Howard from the start!" "HAHAHAHAHA yep that Harold's guy!!" Same non-funny s*** over and over...ugh...just brutal.

As ARice said, it would be assinine for Tampa to make this trade when they have cap issues cause of St Louis, Lecavalier, and Richards. You think they'd give up one of their cheaper players for a collection of guys equaling roughly 8-9 million???
-
Lang for Souray would be really nice, if Mtl is looking to deal him. Basically the only hope i have left is for trades with Montreal and Chicago.

Im getting slightly worried about Rogers, he hasnt been losing but hasnt pitched well in like in his past 4 or 5 starts. I took a peek over at the Tigers message board yesterday, I used to post over there occasionally last year. Can you believe these idiots are wanting to trade Bonderman in a deal for Carl Crawford? And Nate Robertson in a package for Abreau? Christ, you dont bust up key parts of your rotation when you're looking like a playoff team! Complete fools i tell ya..

If Shanny is asking for 5 mill per, watch Holland now up his offer from 4 mill to 4.5. Shanny is playing him like a fiddle. I dont remember the exact words, but remember when Holland about a month ago said he'd like to re-sign Shanny if it was for a good and reasonable number for both sides?

Eklund: Shanahan expected to sign 2 years/9.8 Million

I was ready to go on a rampage when i seen the title of this thread...thinking it was about the Wings signing him, thank god it was about Boston! -
Oh my god if this revised title means we offered him 1 OR 2years at 4 mill per im gonna throw up

Why is it that every pro Holland guy seems to think he was GM for the '97 cup? That seriously gets under my skin! Ok, read closely please. Ken Holland took over as GM of a Cup winning team in '98. Do you honestly think they wouldnt have won that 98 cup if not for Holland? Give me a f'n break!! Yzerman, Shanny, McCarty, Draper, Lidstrom, etc were already on the team he INHERITED. Of course he could then afford to keep all these guys around for '02 since he had an unlimited bankroll...why would those guys even WANT to leave??? Is he some brilliant GM for bringing in 3 Hall of Famers to add to that same core? The almighty Holland knows all! So please...spare me this crap about Holland building these great Cup teams. The thing that bothers me the most about Holland is that he gets cut slack by people for the 3 consecutive early playoff exits....when he has yet to prove his abilities! With the core players of the past not being able to win anymore, now is the time for him to show that he can assemble a winner by making changes. Big changes shouldve happened last year, but they didnt. Now, his job should be on the line.

Casey's lowest BA since 2002 is .291...he's a career .300 hitter. Also strikes out very little (big plus for this team), and is capable of hitting for power. Hit 24 in 2004, however he did only have 9 last year after leaving the Reds for Pitts which tells me if he's hitting in a talented lineup he could do some power damage. Only played in 41 games this year, but he played in the Tigers series every game so im assuming he's ok. Does have a pretty hefty contract at almost 8 mill, but i believe his contract runs out at the end of this year. So it could just be a rental, which would make losing Sanchez sting if he doesnt re-sign, but this is the kind of move you have to make in order to win. Gives us another option at 1B if Shelton goes in one of those funks again too. If im right and he'll be a FA after this year, maybe it wouldnt even cost us Sanchez. Now that would be great!

How about this trade i just thought up... Detroit gets - 1B Sean Casey, RP Mike Gonzalez Pirates get - LF Craig Monroe, SP Humberto Sanchez Pitt gets our #1 pitching prospect who's lighting it up at Toledo, along with Monroe (who they actually wanted last offseason) to play CF for them. We get a very good lefty bat who will hit .300 + to be 1B/DH, and Gonzalez who has posted very good numbers the past few years and will add to the pen. Could possibly close as well, he's Pitts current closer, if Jones starts blowing saves again.
