s*** I hope Rodney doesnt fall apart on us, we really need him. We're gonna have to add somebody for the pen by the deadline, Colon can be sent down to open a spot up...he's pretty useless. Both Grilli and Ledezma are capable of long relief.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

This big offer really has me wondering if Yzerman got into Holland's ear...."Kenny i think we've really gotta keep Brendan another year for the leadership transition". "Yeah, good point, you're right Steve!"

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

Looks like management really did just sit around waiting for Shanahan all these days of free agency, and now that the good guys are gone...theyve fallen right into Shanny's plan. 4 million---------> :flush:

al montoya a wing ? Eklund

Hello, my name is Al Montoya. You trade for me....prepare to lose!

Eklund: Biron could get traded to the Wings

Bell is #1 on my list so i certainly wouldnt give up any player for Biron that we could give for Bell either. I agree Dustin Brown for Biron is overpayment, but the rumors we've been hearing about LA offering him and Frolov have all been under overpayment circumstances (Nabokov). So i think LA would do it, and maybe the deal would be contingent on negotiating a long term contract with Biron beforehand. As for Garon, yeah he's been offered in those Brown/Frolov deals as well. Whats Buffalo's backup situation if they lose Biron? Cause Garon is just backup material, and maybe could go to Buffalo in the deal as well? Unless of course he's signed to some ridiculous contract thats paying him starter money, which i have no idea about.

Eklund: Biron could get traded to the Wings

With the way Dustin Brown and Alexander Frolov's names keep getting offered around, it wouldnt be surprising in the least to see one of them (i would guess Frolov) go straight up for Biron. Or wait, given that they lost Grier they may make the Kings give them Brown cause he's the physical one of the two..

I was thinking about this as i was watching the game Friday...and Mario and Rod mentioned this today. TRADE FOR SEAN CASEY, a lefty who can hit for avg is what this team needs...plus he's another good character guy. Also does posses a little power. I'd love to get him, he'd be perfect and he'd basically be Dmitri's replacement.

No way is Thames a better fit to bat 2nd. Polanco is the classic #2 hitter, smart, can handle the bat...and is terrific hitting to the opposite field. And with Granderson being the only guy with any real speed, you need Polanco batting behind him for when he gets on. Polanco just does alot that doesnt show up in the stats...great character guy as well. Unlike Soriano who bitched and moaned about moving to the OF.. As for the rotation, ive been thinking about that as well. Things just seem to have a way of working themselves out...either Maroth will have a setback and be out all year, or Miner will start getting hit up (i hope not of course!). It'll settle itself i bet.

Not only would that never happen, i also wouldnt want it. Polanco has great D and is one of the few real good contact hitters in the Tigers lineup. We'd be replacing him with yet another big strikeout right handed hitter. Soriano was also known in the past for s***ty defense..

Im not sure by how much the rosters expand for the playoffs, since we havent been there in a while lol, but if they do I think Logan should be brought up specifically for pinch running duty. I remember Boston was using David Roberts 2 years ago in that fashion.

Also have 3 of the top 10 ten ERA's in the AL, with the steamrolling Bonderman only 0.15 away from making it 4! Also the combo of Miner/Maroth has a 3.18 ERA, which would also be top 5....unbelievable, talk about having good starting pitching from top to bottom! - Dmitri Young pleaded no contest to choking some girl, and is now down at Lakeland trying to get back into form...but his return will not stop the Tigers from looking for a lefty bat - Tigers inquired about Cliff Floyd and were told the Mets arent trading him, dont wanna feed ammo to a possible opponent i guess - Nook Logan sent to AA (ouch...), with former Twin Dustan Mohr being signed for Toledo.

Preds to let Eaton, Witt and Markov go

Yes, Sarich will be the cheaper of the two.

Sarich...Witt...whichever. I just hope we get one of them.

    Trade idea...

I'd be all over that trade. Not that i want Zednik, but im realistic, i understand he would have to be involved.

    Pronger

Add on Schneider and Phaneuf and its a done deal
  20. Lou_Siffer

    Pronger

A package of Schneider, Williams, Maltby, and Lilja isnt even in the same stratosphere as Horton and Bouwmeester. You wouldnt even be close to getting one of them let alone both.

I was happy we signed Kenny Rogers, not cause of how he might pitch though but because of the camera man incident lol. I figured hey if things get bad at least he might blow up or something and assault someone, you know, give us some entertainment! But of course i'll take the winning, calm, and teacher version of Rogers over that! Leyland seriously has the midas touch, everytime he goes to the mound to have a chat a potential big inning by the opposing team is killed. Its happened numerous times with Bonderman, once or twice with Colon that i can remember, and last night again with Miner. I dont think its too early, just pencil in the Mets in the World Series. The National League is pathetic aside from them....and hey how about a blast from the past with Munson and Dave Borkowski last night? Is Randy Smith over there?

Aubrey Huff to Detroit is starting to gain a little steam, and he's actually been hot as of late even though his BA is still only .236. Its said Tampa would want a pitching prospect from us, hopefully we can get away with just giving them Jair Jurrjens...although Tata seems the most likely candidate. (i would think humberto would be considered way too good for Huff). Aubrey can DH against righties, as well as play occasionally at 3rd, 1st, and RF. And when he's not starting he can make for a good pinch hitter.

    2006 FIFA World Cup

Doh, there goes my temporary home land! I have to say though, i was getting a kick out of seeing all those cards in that game...something about seeing these players flopping around and the ref throwing a card in a guy's face just makes me laugh every time.
