Holy s***..I dont know if there was something wrong with the radar gun or what, but Zumaya hit 104! I'm not gonna doubt it, because it could be attributed to all the adrenaline he was feeling after the Tigers tied it. It bounced around from 99-102...then bam 104. I havent seen the paper yet today so im curious if theres anything written about the gun not working right, cause that is some serious gas ive never personally seen before!! It seemed to be working right all night and on track, unless they just amped it up a little when Zumaya came out to get the crowd going.. What a win! Now lets hope after this we can beat on the Astros! Show the NL wassup.

I own Eklund. 1 down, 4 more to go (including my Marleau to the Caps and now Havlat for Giguere)

    Ultimate Fighter Finale 6/24

Not sure if theres any fans out here...but this Saturday on Spike we have the middleweight and light heavyweight finals. Kendall Grove vs Ed Herman (middleweights) - Not expecting a very good fight, Herman probably on top most of the fight but not doing a whole lot. But combined with his takedowns i believe he'll get the win by decision. I'm not really impressed with either of these guys. Michael Bisping vs Josh Haynes (light heavyweights)- Haynes has a ton of heart, but Bisping is the clear favorite. This one has the makings of a total slugfest if Bisping keeps it on his feet, which i dont think would be the smart move but then again he stood with Pointon. If he takes it to the ground he'll win quickly by probably arm bar submission in Rd 1. If it stays up top I wouldnt be surprised if someone ended up losing because of a cut, probably Haynes. I think Forrest Griffin or Stephan Bonnar would seriously wipe the mat with either one of these guys though.. Theres also a main event of Kenny Florian vs Sam Stout...if you can even call it a main event. I'll take Stout.

Yeah, i tend to get overly excited about prospects! I heard after the CWS, if he gets signed of course, Miller would then probably pitch some at AA Erie. IF, and i know thats a big IF, he got signed and did that it would put him ahead of Verlander. Because of the holdout, if im remembering correctly, Justin didnt pitch for us in our minors after the college season 2 years ago. Hey you never know, look great at Erie and he could be seriously fast tracked next year by starting out at Toledo (or dare i say...nah i wont say it.. ) As for his stuff, his slider is devastating and almsot on the same talent level as Verlander's fastball. He also throws a fastball of his own between 93-96. While i'd give Verlander the overall edge cause of his curveball, I dont think theres much difference between the two. I think Miller be can compared to a left handed and taller version of Bonderman.

A source close to the situation tells me a deal sending Patrick Marleau to Washington in exchange for a package including the #4 pick is a distinct possibility. Just gettin some practice yeah now that i think about it Lecavalier to LA has a nice ring to it

Sounds like the kinda guy who makes 10 or 20 bonehead off the wall predictions, hoping to get 1 right just so he can say "I called it!" Hell I can do this too...lets see what i got: Robert Lang to Atlanta Lecavalier to Los Angeles Bertuzzi to Florida Heard it here first folks

Support The Tigers! Vote For Pudge.

I think Rogers is a lock. One thing ill bet the house on though, Ozzie Guillen will NOT be picking Magglio Ordonez as a reserve!!! If Verlander can get to 9-4, maybe... I know this game is supposed to be for the fans, but im favor of taking the voting away from us and just letting a committee of managers decide all of the players. Lets just see the best out there and not the same favorites every season.. (Bos, NY)

Support The Tigers! Vote For Pudge.

Over Joe Mauer? Hell no. Although his arm isnt much a guy sitting with a .380 BA is a no friggin brainer. Pudge is playing pretty good but come on, im not giving a freebie vote. Now Alexis Gomez on the other hand...he's getting my 25 votes.

As would I, was just kidding cause that was the same 2 Atl gave us for Farnsworth. But theres no way in hell theyd even take back Miner for Smoltz. Miner does look like a player though! Plus we got Miller coming next year (if he gets signed hopefully), and Tata who i think has got "it". I just have that feeling from seeing him in the pen earlier that theres something there. This just makes Humberto Sanchez expendable, who has alot more trade value than Miner and Tata because of his stuff as well as gaudy minor league numbers.

    MLB Season 2006 thread

No way I say. Sounds eerily familiar to the old Doyle Alexander for Smoltz trade...everything coming full circle with the Braves pulling one on us! How about Smoltz for Zach Miner and Roman Colon? I'd love to get Smoltz here, maybe something could be worked for Humberto Sanchez and another minor leaguer.

Humberto Sanchez at Toledo - 3-0 0.47 ERA in 3 starts Combined with his Erie #s thats 8-3 with a 1.49 ERA. And he's only 23 yrs old, so this isnt a matter of some veteran dominating. Although i hate the thought of losing a potential great pitcher, we have good young pitching and Sanchez is definitely someone we could use to get a lefty bat or even another good late inning bullpen guy by the deadline (if Jones continues to struggle).

I agree. Actually i'd rather just do away with interleague play too! But since most fans like it, its something i can tolerate. The no DH at AL parks though would at least make it more interesting though.

Ruslan Salei Offically on the market.

    Now thats a D!!!

I heard this suggestion on tv before and after seeing the hoopla and crowd involvement over Rodney's AB Saturday, I really am in favor of it. And thats having the no DH rule put in place at American League parks during interleague play...doing the opposite. And having the DH at NL parks. I think the AL fans would really get a kick of out of seeing their pitchers bat at home, its a really good idea i think.

Total whoop ass! I love how they totally rocked Prior too, i like when the Tigs get national attention. Hopefully we can get Shelton back on track now.

Ruslan Salei Offically on the market.

Not a chance! Theres just no balance in that deal you proposed, Wings get the edge in every area! Giguere > Osgood (clearly...) Salei > Lilja (WAY better) Penner > Lang (leaps and bounds better when factoring in age, salary, and potential) And in no way, shape, or form, does the addition of Kirk Maltby going their way even come close to balancing everything out. Ducks wont trade Penner to us anyway by the way, and as Barnes mentioned Salei is a FA so no need to trade for him.

    College Football

I think this may be the year of the Irish. Charlie Weiss did very well in his first year, and will only get better with his new recruits. Over the next 4 or 5 seasons i believe Notre Dame will become like USC has been during their run, 1 or even 2 national championships and always being right there in the mix at the end. They will be the new hot team...bank on it! Im expecting a down year for USC, maybe 3 losses. Everytime i see Oklahoma highly ranked now i just think fraud!

That is the most lopsided trade in the Wings' favor that ive seen in quite a while!

I picked up on a few "Lets go Tigers" chants during the game, christ when's the last season we ever heard that at home let alone the road lol. I bet that Saturday game is gonna be packed with Tigers fans, should be fun to watch!

Yeah these guys are awful, I like the WGN Sox crew, but these guys... ick Sounded like quite a few Tigers fans in the crowd, should be even louder tomorrow. I know a bunch of guys who are going, unfortunately im not able to though.

Thats a good point, but hopefully he ends up being the hidden gem like Robertson was in the Redman trade. Its sure nice to have faith in Tigers trades since ol' Randy left isnt it? I think Gohr for Easley was like the only good trade he made! And of course, even that ended up as a disaster. Off the top of my head...lets see, we had: Cecil Fielder for Matt Drews and Ruben Sierra David Wells for CJ Nitkowski LOL Cordero, Catalanotto, Thompson, and maybe someone else for Gonzalez, Patterson, and Zaun(?) DISASTER Juan Encarnacion for Dmitri Young ok he gets a ...although the pricey extension he was mainly responsible for doesnt look good now Luis Gonzalez for Karim Garcia (good lord...) Bryce Florie for Mike Maroth (took a long time to pay off, but it finally did) Im sure im forgetting one or two more big ones, and of course then there were all the trades with the Astros and Padres that are too confusing to remember now but got us nowhere!

Zach Miner gets win #2 as he goes 7 innings and gives up no earned runs. The DRays two unearned runs came in the 1st inning but Miner didnt let it get to him and shut them down. Dombrowski may have found us another good one!
