Unbelievable...9th shutout!! Verlander still hitting 99 in the 9th inning, Inge and Granderson with 10 and 8 HRs now respectively. Maggs has been turning into the RBI machine we hoped. Mientkiewicz was in awe of Verlander..saying thats the best stuff he's seen. I love it!

What a great last 2 games....and all this despite DY the rally killer being in the lineup We're gonna have to go out and get a lefty bat at some point if this keeps up...
-
Ive been saying the same. I dont what the love for Cleary is all about...whether or not he works hard, he still has no offensive ability whatsoever (3 G over a full season folks). You can find another penalty killer out there who can do more in other areas than Cleary. Plus if Draper and Maltby are still here..you just cant give a spot to this guy. But if he does come back..minimum is indeed all he should he get.

If Minnesota was losing Gaborik they sure as hell wouldnt want Lang. This would be one of those deals where they'd want either one really great propect or a couple good ones in return. Trading your star for a 35- 36 yr old veteran making 3.8 million is pointless when you're a non contending team. I dont believe the Wings have anything the Wild would want as for prospects...as im sure they could get better offers from other teams. The only player that would probably interest them is Datsyuk..
-
Yeah like i posted earlier..everytime they lose one game im like oh s***..here we go! But then they always seem to come back and win the next one. Im still leery that Mags is gonna hurt his knee..or Verlander will hurt his shoulder. This all just seems too perfect right now. We're even lucking out with the bad stuff...like Dmitri Young being the one accused of domestic violence and not someone good like Guillen Good game yesterday, kinda shocking that Verlander had 0 K's. Vance Wilson coming through!

Bigger Playoff Disappointment: Wings or Pistons?
Lou_Siffer replied to livediehockey80's topic in Other Sports
IF the Pistons were to lose this series...they are without a doubt the bigger disappointment. I think everyone just assumed they'd breeze to the East Finals, then would most likely beat Miami again. Hockey is alot tougher to get through, and there were quite a few Wings fans just on this site that didnt think they'd do well. -
Im going through withdrawls...havent seen a Tigers game in 2 days. Hopefully it doesnt rain or i'll be pissed... Tied for 1st place baby!! Not to bring in a negative vibe...but this is where the Tigers of old would now drop 6 out of the next 7 games. Lets see whatcha got Leyland!

Your trade scenarios need alot of work man...first Schneider for Havlat and now this?? Why in the world would Columbus give up pick #6 in order to acquire another old and overpaid Center?
-
Its finally over! Joey Harrington has been traded to the Dolphins for a 5th or 6th round pick (depending on performance) in 2007.
-
No Chris Spielman??? "Come on kid, keep that head up son..MAKE THAT PLAY!!"
-
What...no love for Mike Goldberg? Definitely Ernie. Although as betterRED pointed out..you gotta include Kell/Kaline. Thats my favorite duo all time. I still impersonate Kell's "LOOK OUT!" all the time (he always said that when a ball would fly into the stands) I liked Dave Strader 10x better than Ken Daniels..
-
Yep, Kaline was in the house! A few prospect notes for the Tigs: Zach Miner SP (AAA Toledo) 5-0 2.03 ERA Brent Clevlen OF (AA Erie) .231 2 HR 14 RBI Humberto Sanchez SP (AA Erie) 3-2 2.51 ERA, 54 SO 43 IP Jair Jurrjens SP (A Lakeland) 3-0 1.93 ERA, 30 SO 37.1 IP Kevin Whelan CL (A Lakeland) 1-0 2.45 ERA 7 Sv Cameron Maybin OF (A West MI) .330 1 HR 19 RBI, 6 SB Very impressed with Miner's stats, he could turn out to be a steal in the Farnsworth trade. Kinda like when Nate Robertson was more or less a throw in the Mark Redman trade to FLA (Rob Henkel was the primary target). At the time we acquired Miner last year he was 1-7 with an ERA in the 4's for the Braves AAA team. I guess DD saw something there! Clevlen needs to start picking it up, especially after making the spring training splash. Maybin's lookin good...expected a little more power though but i wont get greedy yet.

If we could work in Rivet, and sign Sarich i'd be very pleased with the D.Maybe they'll take Lilja As for Zednik/Lang on its own, I'll take it for no other reason than getting rid of Lang's salary. But I think Holland has a love fest going with Lang, I doubt he'll wanna get rid of him.
-
Poor Gomez...man that had to hurt, Im surprised his hand isnt broken. Speaking of blasts from the past, I enjoyed Kaline's inning and a half. I really miss his broadcasting. Whew...back on the winning track Magglio is just on fire, that change in his stance has been great. All made sense the way Kaline described the change.
-
That was my thinking exactly. We'd have to trade Schneider before even considering this.

oh no...here comes the inevitable slide

Typical Tigers broadcast: MI- Zumaya just misses on the outside, brings the count to 2-1. That one at 98 miles per hour. RA- That boy can bring it (long pause) MI- I bet you'd like to stand in there against Zumaya, Rod RA- Yeah, and i'd be duckin and coverin! (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) MI- Strike called, 97 miles per hour. Who was the hardest thrower you ever faced Rod? RA- Thats a tough call, I bet he struck me out though (HAHAHAHAHAs by both) (camera shows Verlander in the dugout) RA- Tigers got something special with these 2 kids..boy im tellin ya. MI- Yeah to see the way these 2 dominated at the minor league level was really something RA- Pudge will probably call for something hard on the inside here.. MI- Breaking ball in the dirt, Count at 3-2. 82 miles per hour RA- The difference in velocity is the key here Mario MI- Yeah when you see a guy throwing this hard, its easy forget about that breaking ball RA- bucklin them knees, boy.. MI- You know, even Zumaya will tell you...big league hitters can hit that fastball if theyre sitting on it. You gotta have that offspeed pitch... blah blah same exact conversation rehashed 2 days later!

Please allow me to speak for a second about how annoying im starting to find Mario Impemba. The guy just does not know how to shut his trap sometimes, i dont need your constant babble! An example of whats bothering me? His constant mention of the radar gun. Ok, i understand pointing out every time Zumaya or Verlander hit 99 and above, its special and justifiably so. But I dont need to hear..."strike by Verlander...that one registering 96 on the gun." Or "Zumaya just misses off the plate...that one at 97 mph". I mean he does this with like every pitch! STFU!
-
I havent really paid attention to the attendance...i thought they were doing well though. If they keep playing like they are those stands will be packed soon no doubt. This is a football and baseball town, theyll show up. Every time the Tigers lose one game i get scared that 7 or 8 more losses will follow it up! Like right now im thinking f*** they better win tonight!! Hard to get so many years of futility out of your head..
-
Maybe im just being naive, but im expected good things from Rogers this year. I think Martz being here will motivate him, the focus is on the WR's and their routes under his offense. Rogers just has to see how successful Holt and Bruce have been and know that this is his big chance at redemption. If he cares that is!

I CANNOT BELIEVE the Lions passed on the golden boy.
Lou_Siffer replied to HIGH ON FIRE's topic in Other Sports
Leinart considered better than Palmer?? Ii'd say thats offbase myself. Unlike Palmer, Leinart has arm strength issues, thats always a red flag for teams. Basically the # 1 asset you hear about Leinart is that he wins...and well, that didnt seem to work for other college winners like Ken Dorsey. Lions will do just fine for the next few years with Kitna and McCown. They are more than capable running a Martz style offense. Cause if you didnt know...Marc Bulger -----> NOT THAT GOOD -
Shaun King is a joke..no way he makes this team. Well this is the first season since Millen's been here that i have zero post draft adrenaline running through me. You know, where you just so pumped you cant wait for the season to start to see the new guys in action. Just seemed like a really boring draft, but hey i guess maybe thatll be a good thing!

Good things happen with Guillen batting 5th!
-
Saints wont end up with Bush, I say they trade down and probably end up with either AJ Hawk or Vernon Davis. Given what Brees had with Gates out in SD, I think Davis would be a very smart addition. Especially with Joe Horn being banged up so much last year...they could really benefit with Davis. My mock top 10 draft:Yeah i know its kinda silly trying to predict trades but oh well.. 1) Houston - Mario Williams DE (well that was an easy prediction! ) 2) San Francisco (**from NO**) - Reggie Bush RB 3) Tennessee - Matt Leinart QB 4) NY Jets - D'Brickishaw Ferguson OT 5) Detroit !!(**from GB**) - AJ Hawk 6) New Orleans (**from SF**) - Vernon Davis TE 7) Oakland - Vince Young QB 8) Buffalo - Winston Justice OT 9) Green Bay (**from Det**) - Chad Jackson WR 10) Arizona - Jay Cutler QB
