How nice of you to spend your free time with us Brett!

Something I never thought i'd see from ANY Tigers starter, let alone Maroth.. 3-0 0.49 ERA Zumaya killed the M's...i love it. Rollercoaster Jones is back folks, get ready to start sweat'n! For the second straight game i thought for sure they were gonna blow it.

I heard possibly a 6th round pick next year!! Can you imagine what 3rd string fullbacks could be available with that pick???
-
I saw him sporting a Mike Peca Sabres jersey....i mean thats kind of a weird choice if he wanted to go old school
-
I like Inge, but its like i said earlier...when taken out of the 9th spot he just doesnt seem to do anything. Leyland is so hell bent on leaving Shelton at 6th! Yeah Ive seen Thames at cleanup, ugh..thats just one of those moves that really frustrates me. Ok so he has power, big deal. You still need to have your best hitters in that 3-4-5 heart of the order...and Thames sure as hell aint one of them. If anything put Monroe up there over Thames, at least he's shown power at the BIG LEAGUE level over a full season.
-
Kinda like looking in the mirror isnt it... Hmmm I dont think i'll be playing poker against you anytime soon ...
-
Hell my cutoff date for bandwagoners was about 2 years ago! I dont know, everytime Guillen comes up i just feel good about his chances. Even yesterday when he was down 0-2 in the count, I still wasnt worried. What theyre doing with that 5th spot in the order is seriously starting to irritate me! Thames, Gomez, Inge...come on!
-
Its funny how when it comes to the game being on the line, all of a sudden a team with a so so lineup looks like the Yankees to you. With every A who came up i panicked, like "oh f**k not Milton Bradley!!! "Or "oh great its over...here comes Kendall... damn this lineup is good!" lol Ive never really liked Fernando Rodney, and was glad we added Jones. But when you got a 96mph fastball and that great change, you should be killer for 1 inning. I have a question for you guys. What Tigers hitter do you have the most confindence in when he comes up to the plate??? For me it would be either Polanco or Guillen,...but i'd pick Guillen since he's got more power.
-
I was all set to come on here and make a crack about Fernando GERMAN blowing it...but what do ya know he comes through! Great win. I still dont like Inge in clutch situations though, he always seems to strike out with long, deliberate swings....and well technically he did but got lucky. Outstanding at bat though, I was actually more impressed with Granderson though. Young guy, bases loaded, top of the 9th...to actually get a walk and not try to be the big power hero was impressive. Especially given that last pitch was so close. Did not expect Spurling to get sent down, weird choice. I figured it would be Tata or Grilli, with Tata either starting in Toledo or taking over Grilli's long relief role. Correct, Tata has never been above Lakeland.

I like Red Bull...or even Red Dog. But yeah Red Pop is also much better than Big Red...that is soooooo damn played out. Everyone with red hair is nicknamed Big Red at some point..male or female, including people i know. I mean come on, lets get a little creative.

6 straight televised Tigers games?? I cant believe it, how can this be true? Is this the twilight zone?
-
Hockey- Brian McGrattan Baseball- Right now for me its Joel Zumaya Football- Chad Johnson Basketball- dont know... Bowling- Pete Weber
-
and batting 5th...Alexis Gomez. Now ive seen everything
-
A couple of those curves Zumaya threw yesterday were just sick. I loved that scene with the last strikeout where Pudge and Zumaya were both pumping their fists. Maroth pitched a hell of a game. Contrary to what i posted earlier, now im not so sure they'll be dealing a starter at the deadline. If they do, it will probably be to open up a spot in the rotation for Tata, not Zumaya. So it would all depend on how well Tata continues pitching. If Tata goes to Toledo when Todd Jones comes back, and does really well starting there, a trade could happen. Otherwise they probably wont feel the need to trade one of them. Clevlen struggling so far down in Erie...come on Brent start tearin it up!!
-
Its baffling. This isnt the first time he's resting numerous starters at the same time. Are these guys sitting out that damn fragile that they cant play a day game after a night? I can understand Pudge, but damn... hes got Maggs AND Polanco out too. And the way the lineup is put together is pathetic! Inge hitting 5th? Thames hitting cleanup??? Jesus at least put Shelton and Monroe at 4 and 5! I know Leyland said he doesnt wanna move Shelton up but come on...Inge and Thames?!!! Is it just me or does Inge only hit well when he's at the bottom of the order? Seems like everytime he's moved up to 2 or 3 he just strikes out and doesnt do ANYTHING..
-
Holy crap what a s***ty ass lineup they got out there today...
-
Warren Morris....lol i havent thought about him in a long time. The only thing i still remember about him is hitting that homer for LSU and rounding the bases with his arms up. Such a great MLB career! Exactly, just makes no sense having Young at 5. Like you said he's either gonna clear the bases or strikeout...he sure as hell aint gonna walk especially if he's behind the count at any point. Guillen at least knows how to work the count and has some power himself. I do respect DY for being loyal though and hell ive never even heard him complain...but he still pisses me off alot as a hitter. When he gets 2 strikes you might as well just walk out the room cause he's K'in. I can understand putting him at 7 after Shelton if theres a righty on the mound...but certainly not ahead of him under any circumstances. Yep, its Darrin Jackson that does the color.
-
Hopefully ho ass DY goes on the DL with that quad injury. Time to move Guillen to the 5th slot, give Shelton a guy who can actually get on base in front of him. Whats the use in having a free swinger like Young batting in front of your hottest hitter?
-
Im gonna have to disagree. For whatever reason, Ive always really liked Hawk Harrellson the play by play guy. "You can put it on the boaaaaaard.....YES!" Or my favorite, "He gone!" Yeah ive noticed to that they always call guys by nicknames or just by their first name, like..."here comes AJ up to the plate.." As for all the silence, I like that too. For me its like golf, I dont want guys yapping endlessly throughout the at bats, or trying to predict all the pitches only to see the pitcher throw the complete opposite. I liked the old colorman too Tom Paciorek (originally from Hamtramck MI i think), but i think he either retired or got replaced last i saw.

Ok analogy time! James Hall/ Corey Redding is to Shaun Rogers as Mark Mowers is to Henrik Zetterberg. Throw Mowers on Hank's line and sure, he'll look ok...but alot better than he really is. Same thing with the Lions DE's..
-
I disagree. I think the fact that someone like James Hall has had any success is more a testament to how good Shaun Rogers is. Hall is average at best, as is Redding. Kalimba is the only one of the group that i can see ability in...but he's been around what, 5 years now? Plus our secondary is always banged up, a good pass rush is a MUST or we'll be getting picked apart. If we had Williams it would help the entire defense, whereas drafting a LB or DB would just help in that specific area.
-
Im not sure we'd be able to move up all that much with the two 3rd rounders offer, maybe somewhere in the low 20's of the second round. I guess if there was someone there who we really could use then id be all for it. Man having Williams and Rogers would have such an effect on the whole defense. I have nightmares about seeing QB's having all day back there while guys like Keith Smith and Stanley Wilson get picked apart. I mean come on...they can only cover guys for SO LONG before they get burnt lol. I dont see Harrington to the Jets at all since they got Ramsey. I kinda see Baltimore being the team that jumps up to get him, especially if the organization is yet to be sold on Kyle Boller. Boller did start playing well though, but maybe they'd want Harrington's presence to help push him..
-
Can you imagine the success that Lendale White would have if Pitt was able to get him? Talk about a perfect fit. Can you say 20 TDs???
-
I think it would be worth giving up the 2nd, like you said we havent had a good pass rusher in YEARS. To have a DE who actually has alot of skill to pair with Rogers would be something. Then trade Joey and pray you can get an extra 3rd rounder out of him..
-
Just when i thought it was a no-brainer to take Huff, I spot the gaping holes at LB. Man i dont know what the hell this team should do now...OL, LB, DB, DE, all areas that need help. Its giving me a headache! The thought of moving up to take Mario Williams though is very intriguing...given Marinelli's background i think its a very strong possibility! I guess with Williams and Shaun Rogers up front you could maybe get away with having that average LB corps.
