Blak- It sounded on the tv that the loudest cheers during the intro were for Leyland and Shelton. How did it sound there???

He wouldve been gunned had Crede not lifted his glove up, but still, yeah it was very surprising! Not quite as suprising as when gets a walk though

I hate Dmitri Young. I dont care what power he provides, his negatives outweigh it. You can just sense everytime he gets 2 strucks he's gonna whiff...then that weak ass double play. Bump Shelton to 5, move DY to 8.

I had the Leafs/Flyers game on with the sound off and the Tigers on the radio.

Well its really early but this stretch of 7 games starting Monday against Chicago and Cleveland is gonna define the season to me! If they come home and go 2-5 or worse thats really gonna hurt. To me it'll show that they cant come through once the expectations become raised. Yeah i know its a 162 game season but im nuts like this...

Hell im just looking forward to being able to watch them on TV today! It'll screw with my usual PBA bowling schedule! , but hell im itching to watch the Tigs. Verlander dominant yesterday! Shelton does it again with 2 triples and a single.

Im really annoyed with the TV schedule myself...all these damn games that arent even on. Theres another stretch next week too with no TV...bulls**t. I dont wanna jinx anything but this is gonna be a tough one for Justin to win...I can already picture Blalock smacking him around...

I agree from a confidence standpoint, having Pudge back there probably wouldve been better. But from what I remember hearing a year or two ago, Pudge's skills at calling a game really isnt all that good. Its very possible the team thought Vance is better in that area. Can you imagine if Rollins gets to like 50 and theres a play thats ruled an error and not a hit, and his streak ends? I can hear Jesse Jackson's rant already!

I like Rod Allen's really bold prediction about Shelton..."I think he can definitely hit anywhere between 20 and 25 HRs"...DUHHHH ya think so Rod? He only hit 18 last season in limited ABs.

Have baseball fans gone far enough?

Im looking forward to all this anti-Bonds stuff...he has it coming. The syringe thing was funny as hell by the way

Hmmm...I know this way to early to be saying this, but now im kinda on board with all the so called experts who think Zumaya is better suited for the pen. He's got that intimidating reliever look going on. It will be interesting to see what they decide to do later in the year. I love what the Tigers are doing though, now bringing up Tata. Its all about talent now, and not age. If Tata is better than everyone at Toledo, use him up here! Who cares how much experience he has. Good win, Maggs looked awful though...some really s***ty swings. Oh well win is a win.

I keep getting the vibe that Verlander is gonna have a serious arm injury...its like having him, Bonderman, and Zumaya is too good to be true! Something bad always happens. Im most interested in the rotation myself, always have had a love for good pitching. Staff predictions: Rogers 14-8 4.10 ERA Bonderman 17-9 3.47 ERA Robertson 10-13 4.53 ERA Maroth 6-7 4.50 ERA (traded by deadline) Verlander 11-12 4.66 ERA Zumaya 2-4 5.20 ERA (only counting starts)

No longer a sport?? Thats taking it to the extreme isnt it? I dont have any picks yet, gotta take a once over on all the rosters when the season starts. Im expecting the Tigers to be over .500 though, maybe only by 4 or 5 games but it'll happen. I see it as being like around 5 years ago or so where they flirted with the wildcard late in the year and then fell off. This team definitely has promise though, Im most interested in the rotation. No question the lineup has talent, but what I dont like is it just seems to be a bunch of similar hitters, like it just doesnt have the team chemistry that variety would provide. I think Granderson is gonna be the key. He needs to continue to show enough power so he can be put eventually in the 3 spot. Thats where he needs to be for this team to be successful. My ideal batting order would be: 1)Polanco -no he doesnt have the speed but he knows how to hit leadoff) 2)Guillen - you could flip flop him with Polanco, but i prefer him at 2 3)Granderson - Is it too early? Only one way to find out. We need an athletic power hitting lefty to be in the heart of the lineup to mix things up 4)Ordonez- just stay healthy damnit.. 5)Shelton- will drive in whatever Maggs doesnt 6)Young - because he can hit lefty.. 7)Pudge- any lower and he'd probably start bitching.. 8)Monroe 9)Inge

All I know is they better focus on that offensive line during the draft...what, is Rex Tucker supposed to be the big improvement???

Any good Detroit Tigers Message Boards around?

Very true lol, but at least theres a specific trade forum here to discuss that crap. The Tigers board is just a mess.

Any good Detroit Tigers Message Boards around?

I used to post on the Tigers website board, but it seemed like every other thread was suggesting some ridiculous trade offer like Pena for Adam Dunn...or Nook Logan to Boston lol. Seen that one on more than occasion. I just cant believe fans are that damn stupid..

THAT IS NOT DEBATEABLE!!! Pittsburgh without a doubt had more pieces on offense. The Steelers O-line is one of the best in the league, whereas Detroit's has been one of the worst year in year out. Im sure you realize how important an O-line is right? The combo of Willie Parker and the Bus wouldnt do SQUAT if they were on the Lions and running behind our line. Jones has to fight for every 3 yards a carry he gets. Also obviously with a better line comes much better pass protection. It got to the point where Joey was so afraid of getting sacked every time that he'd have "happy feet" even on the plays where he actually had time! Which led to more innaccuracy. Then you have the WR position. Hines Ward is a top flight veteran reciever, Randle El had also been a round a little while. Over here we had a bunch of youngsters...BIG difference. Ben was put in a much better situation to succeed, I think he wouldve done better than Joey here...but not by much. And it has absolutely nothing to do with Ben being a "proven winner".

I'd be happy with a 4th rd pick...thrilled with a 3rd. I really hope Minnesota gets involved, just to see him make the return to Detroit every year. The Detroit crowd never disappoints in providing entertainment.

Are you really a wings fan?

I used to be a big fan, but now Im not able to sit through any of their games anymore. Just way too boring to me. If there was another game on I'd watch that one.

KC would be a good fit for harrington. He can be backup to trent green and learn how to be a real QB. Can't remember who it is but KC just signed a back up QB....I think Damon Huard... Damon Huard certainly wouldnt stop the Chiefs from wanting Harrington. Joey would be the heir apparent to Green (at least they would hope)...not bum ass Huard. He'd be 3rd string..

    Intriguing players to target

If the Isles are looking to sell I wonder if Arron Asham is available. I'd love for the Wings to get him..

uuuuh i think you can forget about Dallas, Nashville, and Edmonton giving us their top players.

    trade proposal

Looks like no one agrees with you, I hope you learned your lesson. "Witt is a little better than Woolley"...lol. I bet you think Mowers is good too!

    trade proposal

So thats your reasoning? Lets not forget that Lilja was a -8 last season and only had 7 pts. Who's to say Witt wouldnt excel being on Detroit?? I hate when people make comparisons when the two players situations are completely different. Witt is better than Lilja...thats just common hockey knowledge.

    trade proposal

Lilja is NOT BETTER than Witt! Come on now! Dont forget a couple of those guys are pretty damn old, and when will that start to show? Later in the year of course.
