Probably right. Thats the true definition of team toughness, when you've got guys who normally wouldnt fight dropping the gloves. Hell even Doug Weight wanted to go with Lebda! Its pretty crazy to see how many guys they have that are willing to drop 'em. Everybody knows that someone will have their back at all times.

Oh hell im all for roids in hockey fighters! I guess you could say my dislike for McCarthy was a result of him having stopped using them! For the record, i wouldnt hold that against Twist either, or any fighters who used roids. I think in my era of being a fan McCarthy is without a doubt one of the best based off what he was in his prime. He's top 5 for the 90's for sure imo. Speaking of roids, I dont know if Peters is off now, but he needs to get back on if he is. He hasnt been doing jack s***...

It will never be to that level though imo. But aside from that, playoff hockey in general caters to the play more of a North American than that of a european player. Regular season games can be won by finesse teams, games are alot more wide open. In the playoffs, teams play the trap more, games get tight, hitting peaks. Its much more of a gritty game. Yes i am being stereotypical and there are ALWAYS exceptions, but that is much more the game in North America. Hence, you are more likely to be successful having those players imo.

No, it doesnt count. Im talking about your core...the Wings had guys like Yzerman and Shanahan who were integral pieces, as well as other important players who were Canadian. Its not nearly the same as it is now.

On the same page with the Coach on this one! Until a team thats led at the top by europeans wins the Cup, i will never change my mind. Does it mean i think the whole team has to be Canadian? Of course not. But I believe you have to have some Canadians mixed in your core of top players. The playoffs is where heart comes to the forefront, I dont see how anybody can not acknowledge that dreaming of the Cup all your life doesnt come into play.

I compare the UFC to how wrestling used to be. Once the WWE bought WCW, everything seemed to go downhill with no legitimate competition around. Since the UFC bought Pride and dont have to compete for ppv dollars, they seem content with putting out lame cards way more often than not with one or two decent boughts and thats it. Honestly with so many quality fighters at their disposal, there is absolutely no excuse for the UFC to ever have no names and scrubs on their ppv broadcasts. Save that crap for Spike...let these guys build themselves up first, THEN put them on a show we're paying for! Buentello vs Kimbo, now that would be a legit win for him and another intriguing fight. Did you just pull that name out of the hat or have you heard anything about that possibly happening? Honestly i do want to see Kimbo get his ass kicked, but theres that other small part of me that wouldnt mind him winning just to see different names thrown at him. Once he loses, I will no longer give 2 flying s***s about him or any of his fights.

Now this i dont have a problem with! You hit the nail on the head. My main worry is that Fedorov would be the only forward acquisition by Holland...and that would just be horrible. But if they get that top 6 guy (although i definitely dont want Prospal) and that big dman like Stuart...then i dont necessarily have a big issue with bringing Fedorov back. Although, I'd much prefer someone of the gritty variety like Gratton.

Once he got off the roids though and lost all that weight, he went south really fast. In his prime though, he was definitely one hell of a fighter like you said. He was one of my favorites for sure, then just end up frustrating me more and more to the point i started to dislike him.

The last memory I have of McCarthy is getting absolutely pummelled by Brashear....I'd like to keep it that way
