I sure hope not. The biggest thing ive wanted is a young Canadian in our core who will play physical and fight on occasion, aside from scoring. I just pray Matthias doesnt develop into that. Play soft Shawn...play SOFT!
-
When did you hear this? Last i heard they planned on giving him just the 1yr qualifying offer, which is what you have to do to get the compensation picks when he signs somewhere else for a multiyear deal.
-
I always thought Kelly Chase was pretty cool. But yeah, Twist was one roided up s.o.b.! Thats one thing i really miss in today's game...that one dominant big ass guy everybody is afraid of. (*cue your Lilja response* ) Boogaard's the closest thing cause of all his KO's, but he cant beat Laraque and Brashear...
-
Come on Matthias, just drop the gloves now and make me throw up!
-
Yeah, thats how i view it. A guy who wasnt worth much for another guy that didnt do anything when it mattered, a total wash. The simple fact they found a taker certainly doesnt make it a great trade. Just offsetting the mistake of re-signing him is all it did in reality.

Oops, yep i meant Stewart! I'd still do the first and second rd picks for Roy....even though i do really like him. Just makes sense for them to make a move like that with so many holes (which is why it wont happen!!)
-
Of course that also would open up the possibility of signing Derek Anderson...as with the 2 extra picks from Dallas it would make losing the compensation picks much less of a blow. Hmmm....tough call cause im not sure he's worth the risk and i have hope for Stanton.
-
I think whoever said that is probably dreaming. I cant imagine Dallas giving us both their 1st rounders for Roy...1st and 2nd sounds alot more plausible. If they did though, man...a trade like that would be HUGE. I'd take Harvey, then Jonathan Smith the RB from Oregon with Dallas' 22nd overall(if he were available). After that, with the 'Boys other pick and your own 2nd rounder, target OL, MLB, or CB,...whatever's the best option at the time. By trading Roy, you just have to hope Calvin steps up to the hype.

Agreed, I think Bert's going to be hot the rest of the year. I guess its no suprise that line would do so well, considering how the Getzlaf/Perry/Penner line worked well in the past. Penner and Bertuzzi are alot alike.

Haha, seeing Barnaby jump up like that and beat the hell out of snow had me cracking up! And of course, anything called by Rick Jeanerrette just adds to the excitement! Ive been waiting for Downey/Tootoo as well. Tootoo is tough, but on paper its still a mismatch. I think Tootoo would get the jump on him early by doing the "decline then suddenly drop 'em by surprise and attack" tactic. He'd probably be the first to shed the gloves trying to get an advantage, so as long as Downey holds off the initial attack he would soon take over for the win. Thats how i see it!

I thought the point of this was just throwing out how you'd like to see the point system.

2 pts regulation/OT win 1 pt for Shootout win 0 pts for Loss I really do not like the fact that shootout wins count the same as winning the game outright....i think thats bull. Give the fans their shootout, but have the teams battle for only one point. Loser gets squat.

No one's talking about that anymore cause its of no significance and also wasnt a good trade. Are you calling that a great trade sarcastically? Im confused. Great trades have strong value as the end result. Wasnt bad either, it turned out to be a wash for the Wings. Calder did absolutely nothing in the playoffs, but it was time for Williams to go anyways. The dman the Flyers got i dont really know anything about, other than he does play on their big club. So if you're going to make an argument as to who won that trade, it would be one of those two teams and not the Wings.

I remember when they used to have him on NHL2night with Buccigross, that was pretty sweet. Tony Twist was the man, and during his reign really brought that invincible feel like you just knew whoever he was fighting was in big time trouble. Not that he didnt have a few losses here and there mixed in...(like Leroux, Huard,...i think Ewen ), but he was ferocious!
-
Add on at least 1 more goal to that total tonight. Things are definitely starting to come together for him as of late.

No pucks have dropped yet so i made it! I raced through these...should be interesting. Not that it even matters how long i take lol.

Good "point". Whether or not he's being overpaid, theres no denying this was a sharp move for the Hawks. Can you imagine if Patrick Sharp fought Tanner Glass on Florida? The linesmen would be wise to stay away and not break that one up.

Well since Lidstrom is Flava Flav, is this his partner in crime?
-
I wonder if his contract was written up in shorthand.
-
Downey has yet to get his ass kicked this year, what fights are you referring to?
-
Of course...nothing tops this one for me though

When the pain train goes on to defeat Laraque and become champ, you will be the one guy who can stand up and say they supported his skills from the start May's stance with the wiggling fingers was always a favorite of mine as well
-
May's actually my favorite player of all time believe it or not....the way he fights made me huge fan back in his Sabres days. Wild, yet with a technical side to him the way he switches hands alot during flurries. Yeah he does dish out cheap shots on occasion and has taken many a liberty, but it doesnt matter to me. He's just one of those guys i classify as warrior and plays with a ton of passion. MayDay!!!!
