All the players are probably under orders not to fight...knowing Bettman. There hasnt any animosity whatsoever in this game, that = BORING!

    FIRE MILLEN PETITION!

The Millen Man March was greatest, and funniest idea of all time! If that didnt work, nothing will.

Hmmm....I'll have to watch it again, but on live viewing last night it just looked like your a-typical crap fight draw. Cool, thanks. Nope, never been on dropyourgloves, ive heard of it but just assumed it was just another messageboard. Didnt know there were a bunch of clips on there. And i feel just a little stupid for not realizing how many fights were actually on You Tube.
  6. Best case scenario is Downey beats Walker early on in the first, and King challenges him later. Works for me!
  7. Yep, I think Walker/Downey is about as dead even as you can possibly get. That one could go either way....if i had to choose i might slightly lean towards Walker, but by a hair. Likewise, I dont see him fairing too well against King.

Considering it isnt 2008 yet....yeah, i guess 'd say 4 years ago still qualifies as recent...

McCarty close to signing with Generals

Thats a tough call, but I'll say no to Grimson only based on the fact that the Reaper didnt hit his peak imo till a year later when he joined Hartford. I'd lean towards a young McCarty vs the Grimson of 94-96. However, if we were just going prime McCarty vs prime Grimson when both were at their best, i'd have to say Grimson. Lets keep in mind though, that when McCarty hit his prime as a player he hardly scrapped with the best of them. He mostly stuck to fighting light heavies.

He's probably my favorite fighter going right now, so even though he'd probably be all over Downey i'd love to see them go anyways! Downey vs Walker, Downey vs King, Drake vs Mayers rd II, and what the hell Lilja vs Tkachuk....thats how im hoping to close out the year!

Sorry to say Earthuman, but this thread will turn unplausible really quick once the Prucha for Lilja talk starts up!

Does this mean DJ King will play??? *starts foaming at the mouth in anticipation*
  16. Yeah at least now, having finished 1-7, theres at least a 2% chance Millen will be out that we can hang our hopes on! Had they finished 5-3, it would be 0. I'd love to get Cowher so we could get some Pittsburgh boys in here, theyve always been noted for having good running games and a good line! My other dream has been Jimmy Johnson coming in here, but hell you know who i'd be thrilled to get thats alot more realistic? The dude from Atl that got fired, ...came over from Tampa after the Super Bowl win....cant remember his name! Rich Mckay i think.
  17. Fire Millen > Hire Cowher as GM > Fire Marinelli > Hire Russ Grimm as Head Coach Problem solved! Who wouldve thought it was that simple!

You know, unfortunately, i cant really give you an all time top 10...because too much of it would be just based on heresay (things ive heard and read). I just havent seen nearly enough footage of the older guys like Wilson and Fotiu to feel comfortable enough to say where they stand against the guys ive been able to personally watch. My fighter knowledge pre-early 90's is pretty limited, so any list i was to make would end up just being a compilation of what other people have said.. no use in doing that! Just based off ive guys ive been able to watch in my era of fanship, Brashear would probably fall somewhere in the middle of the top 10. I'd definitely put Probert, Kocur, and Twist above him. Hmmm...i think for the hell of it i'm gonna try and come up with a top 10 of the last 10 years list...

I agree on Brashear. There was a stretch from probably '98 all the way to 2 years ago where i considered him the #1 fighter. Thats a very, very long period of time. He does do the hugging thing, but with him its not the classic hugger where a guy just doesnt wanna mix it up and throw punches. Brashear hugs in order to use his strength to get position.... where he can fire all his lefts. No one will ever put him in the top 10 ten though, based off of the fact he doesnt fight wide open....which is stupid. If a guy is beating everybody he deserves credit for it no matter how he's doing it.

Another reason for poor Wings attendance?

Yep. That in addition to too many bland guys that people dont really care much about. They dont have the names and personalities to draw in the casual fans anymore....thats whats missing in the seats. Theres a reason the most popular jersey you see at the arena as for current players is Chelios, and not Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Flip, Lidstrom, and all the other players on the team that are more important than him.

Im not exactly a fan of guys keeping their visors on, but you cant really expect Perry to remove his in what was clearly a spur of the moment fight. A square off is a different story, but the occasion to take it off doesnt always present itself...(see: Dallas Drake vs Mayers) Nothing wrong by Perry in this one, well, other than the fact he lost. Ton of fights last night, the Isles/Devils game suprisingly had a couple good ones. Rupp with the TKO on Sutton, and even Comrie/Mottau was a nice scrappy fight. Brashear destroyed Neil in the Ottawa game, funny how Don Cherry hates Brashear so much he said Neil won! lol.

    Contenders and pretenders

Thats gotta be total favoritism towards Lidstrom blinding you eva. Lilja is so far and way below the level of Pronger and Niedermayer there is no hockey reasoning to justify your statement. That combo is better easily. I have to think its all based on the fact that you like Lidstrom and thats it...you'd probably argue Lidstrom/Meech over Pronger/Neidermayer too! How is Neidermayer not one of the all time greats? He may not be top 5, but he's in the mix after that.

Well you could say the same for Hughes though, that he's only had a month to train specifically for GSP. I'd imagine the gameplan for fighting against Serra would be totally different for one against GSP....so all the strategizing time up to the point Serra became out was wasted. I think that gives GSP the edge, as he already knows how to beat Hughes....and Matt after being dominated by him is the one that needs to come up with the new plan. Not that i'd be surprised if Hughes won, the guy is awesome, but i gotta go Pierre after what happened last time. Interesting about the limewire thing you mentioned, i never used that and figured it was just music. I'll definitely have to look into that, as the major reason ive fell out of the UFC over the last 4 or 5 months is that their PPV lineups havent been worth 10 dollars let alone 40. But if its free, hell i can wait a few days.

I havent seen a UFC event in a while, but I'd pick Silva by TKO and GSP by unanimous decision.
