If thats the case, they could move Ruutu somewhere else in a different deal. My point being, that given the combination of Anaheim being overloaded on defense (and teams knowing this) and Schneider making a ton....it would not take that much for Chicago to get him. He wont be completely given away, but it wont cost much especially if Selanne wants to come back. Hell i could see them just taking on Lapointe for him, if this is his last year under contract.

Take them? Hell he's already aced lesson #1....dont throw any punches! On a serious note though, he does need to learn a thing or two from Downey. As does Kronwall. I love when he goes for the open ice hit, but someone is going to after him at some point. When you go for the big hits like that, you need to be able to protect yourself and not get ragdolled if someone goes for revenge.

Thats interesting....i wonder if that was his opinion or he knew for a fact. If it was fact, then Babs gets the thumbs down instead. If being up 5-0 in the 3rd doesnt as constitute a time to fight....I dont know what does. Are we seriously worried about firing up the Blues at this point? Come on, it was over. And anyways...the only team that fight will fire up is the Wings, given that it would be revenge oriented and in defense of Franzen. That is in NO WAY fighting just to fight. By what you're saying about not fighting Walker, none of Downey's fights have been for a reason, so thats contradicting. In particular, the Fedoruk fight went 100% against your rules. The Wings were up by 2 goals i believe, and it was in defense of nobody.

Oh, im not making an issue about it...dont get me wrong. I really liked it! I never complain about hits around here. I just threw that part in being that it was a little questionable, and how many Wings fans tend to think our team is squeaky clean.
-
Yeah Ryan Johnson has had it coming for a while now. I do kinda like the guy though and wouldnt call him a puss, even being a non-fighter he still had the guts to defend a teammate and instigate a fight with Krys Barch. Stuff like that tends to put ya on my good side.

Questionable board, (for those that like to think the Wings do no wrong when it comes to things like this )but I liked it and have no problem with it. Good for Franzen taking it to him! Nor do i have any problem with Walker going after and punching down Franzen afterwards. Two good plays right there. What i do have somewhat of a problem with though, is Downey not going after Walker in the 3rd. I seen they came together at one point, I dont understand what Downey was thinking there. Im sure as an enforcer himself he completely understood why Walker did what he did, but still...i think you've gotta fight him there anyways, especially in a lopsided decided game. Unless Babcock put the leash on him so he could get more ice time...,i dont know. Either way i was disappointed.

I never knew Leatherface played hockey

If that were the case we wouldnt be seeing a whole lot of fights. How many millions of times do we see guys drop the gloves off the faceoff for no apparent reason? Guys all the time drop the gloves after clean hits too...I dont really know what you're getting at here. You're criticizing Jackman for something that happens every night around the league. Fighter checks fighter, challenges are issued...and they go.

Hey back off...its the Christmas season. You know.... "no L"?
-
You cant duck the issue...you have to think about the future sometimes and not just the present. They sure are stocking up on defense. I definitely wouldnt be surprised if they were to sleigh the Wings in the first round. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good hnidy!

Stop trying to play devil's advocate

Cant speak for the Pack fans, but Seattle is just a mediocre team to me, so that makes them a pretender. That team has always been about one man...Shaun Alexander. Hasselbeck has been good dont get me wrong, but Alexander is what determines the ultimate success of that team. Unfortunately for them, the past 2 seasons he's become a shadow of what he once was because of all his injury problems. He's been averaging a pretty pathetic 3 and a half yards per carry the last 2 years. So even when he plays he's not doing anything. That team, without a great Alexander, is no threat to win anywhere but at home. At Lambeau i believe they take a healthy 20 pt pounding.

Agreed, at this point i'd consider him in the running to be light heavyweight champ, but thats it.
-
Unless they've been given notice by Lidstrom that he's retiring....there is absolutely 0% chance of this happening. Rafalski would have to be dealt off in a seperate deal to accomodate Jovo's salary, no way the Wings go that route.

Downey needs to have a positive impact tonight, i think you could almost say he's forced himself into fighting. I absolutely love what he's brought to this team as you all know, but even I have to admit the last probably 4 games he's been in he hasnt really done much of anything. He's been relatively quiet...just a couple decent hits here and there, hasnt fought, and has taken a few penalties. Not that someone like Ellis has done anything either, but Downey will always have to do more than someone like that for the Wings to keep him higher on the pecking order. I hope he has a good game...I feel like the next few he's in are very important for him.

Wow i actually gave Utah 16? Didnt think i gave them that much! I hope i didnt give Memphis more than 5 or 6...i better go check! Today is where the real fun begins, i think theres 3 games on.

I have no doubt Downey is superior, but watching it a few more times just now, it just appears that Boll landed the better punches. Downey was swinging at alot of air in the latter portion. No doubt a close fight, and i wouldnt argue draw, but i cant award points just because of heart and stamina. Going with what was landed, i have to go narrow win Boll. Cool to see we're in agreement on the others though.

Could a morbidly obese goalie shut out an NHL team?
Lou_Siffer replied to edicius's topic in General
Thanks. Is he just meant to be with Tkachuk or what?! He already had DJ "Burger" King on the team...now he's got both covered. Whats next, trade for Rene Bourque so they can give him an "R.B." too??? -
Those lethal weapons of his must not be registered yet.... so he's just showing off his grappling power right now.
-
Who do you think would win in a fight between Hasek and Osgood? I say Osgood kills him.
-
Agreed. Ference isnt a good fighter by any means, but this isnt like Crosby decided to drop the gloves only because it was someone like...i dont know.... Marc Savard. Ference does have some NHL fighting experience under his belt, albeit not a whole lot, but he's still went with the likes of Barnaby and was the decisive favorite going in. In all actuality, he should and probably is, a bit embarrassed over this.

Im also in the league (Im Frank Ferter), and picked Utah I just took them because all i knew about Utah was that they had a pretty good D and Navy just runs...so i liked the matchup there. I dont believe i gave them very many confidence points at all though.
