Huh? I believe you're wrong on all 3 counts. What star for star trades go on at the deadline? Teams look to put themselves over the top when they make deadline deals, ...i.e Smyth, Guerin, Forsberg, and Tkachuk last year. None of these trades had stars going the other way, it was all for prospects and picks. Perhaps you dont consider these as blockbusters and thats the misunderstanding, but these were the biggest acquisitions last deadline if im not mistaken. Prospects and picks for another teams star is the most classic scenario that goes on all the time.

The fact that the outcome had been already decided goes even more towards my point....as a reaction wouldve been much more likely. I cant argue if you say it was unnecessary, but although the outcome wasnt in doubt this was still a meaningful situation to Hasek as he desperately wanted to get the shutout.

To me the answer is simple. The Wild had no reaction whatsoever to this play. This was their STAR player who almost got flipped on his head....if this was indeed a dirty play dont you think there would have been some sort of reaction on the ice? Maybe someone at least going up and taking a swipe at Hasek? So they are either the most gutless players on earth, or the players on the Wild saw this as a clean play...or at least nothing more than a tripping penalty.

They sure as hell wouldnt for Datsyuk...thats for sure. That would make zero sense, considering the difference in what Vinny makes to Datsyuk doesnt come close to warranting a swap. Why trade the best player in the league for another high priced player? Not logical. If they were to trade him, it would be for multiple players...probably a mixture of current NHL'ers and a stud prospect or two.

Gagne is going to want to close somewhere im guessing. Removing Jones from that role in turn makes him useless...as he's always been horrid when coming into games in non- save situations. Jones can not be a set up guy. But if Gagne wanted to be in a Zumaya 8th inning type role, and closer if need be, i'd definitely be for it over Hawkins or anybody else. At least with Gagne theres a possibility he could become dominant and a go to stopper like Joel was, whereas someone like Hawkins he's pretty much going to be another Rodney. Good at times, horrible on other occasions.

Yeah, thats what i was gonna say. Lilja doesnt go looking for fights or tangle for the hell of it, therefore its basically impossible to look at a game and predict that "Lilja is going to fight tonight". Downey on the other hand, you can do that with and this is one of those games where i feel pretty confident he's going to be scrapping (assuming he's in the lineup). I pray Boogaard plays, but obviously Downey's not going to fare too well in that one. I like the chances of him fighting Fedoruk. Theyve fought in the past, and Downey's a good, safe, first fight with the Wild for him. No danger of getting his faced caved in. For entertainment value though, Downey/Voros would be more toe to toe.

That wont happen. We're not going to get a closer for Inge, at least not anyone who's better than Jones. Unfortunately because of his 6 mill salary, and the fact most teams inquiring want the Tigers to eat a portion of that (which they said they wont do), the return is not going to be that good. But i'll take any kind of middle relief upgrade we can get. We'll probably get a mid 3 era kinda guy. SF and the Dodgers were mentioned as potential suitors.

The fact the thread was even brought up is ridiculous enough...and some were actually buying into the thought even if they didnt fully agree it would happen. Guys on a pace for 19 goals and all a sudden 50 is thrown out there...come on.

Like Hudler being a potential 50 goal scorer! People here can be so over the top unrealistic after a guy scores a couple goals. I happen to like Kronwall....as potentially a very good 3rd defensman, which is just what he's making money wise at 3 mill. Everyone calling for an insane amount of points out of the guy and saying he's supposed to be Nick Jr. are out of their minds. He'll be fine.
