I used to think it was Manning, but seeing what Brady is capable of having a legit receiving corps theres no question in my mind its Brady.
-
I think its the opposite actually. The chances of landing someone you need are significantly higher right now than at the deadline...when probably at least 5 other teams are eyeing that same player and prices get inflated. Its why im so gung ho they should try to pawn off someone like Hudler right now when somebody might bite, later on better deals will come along for that team.
-
I dont buy it happening but if we could actually spin Willis off to the Mets, I'd be 100% for it assuming they gave us good value on it.
-
Samuelsson deserves anything he gets. He's a guy that acts tough when linesman arent around only against smaller skilled guys like Koivu. . You play like that i dont give a rats ass if you get laid out..whether its from behind or not. Sammy showed all i needed to see when Morrow came calling after that stick incident. That wont be forgotten...wuss.

None imo. I dont think the Wings brass are willing to part with what it will take to get involved in any bidding wars. Its why ive felt it was prettty pointless saving all the cap room they did....as they arent willing to part with what it will take to make that justifiable. Im not even saying whether parting with Kindl and Flip is the right move, just that its something that in all likelihood wont be done. Might as well just have signed anybody to a 1 yr 3 or 4 mill contract..thats always been my take on it.

Any place other than Ottawa...it'll be no reaction. I dont think 90% of the crowds will really even know who he is to be honest.
-
I already do like the Flyers, thanks.

I guess we just view things differently. To me, i see a guy reacting when he sees his captain being shoved around. Im old school....you see that the guy gets it. I stand by what i said, if Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom take your pick is the one getting roughed up and Cleary comes flying in like Superman, the entire board would be in love with it.

Bautista is just the latest run of the mill guy in our revolving door bullpen. Nothing good with him. This pen looks even worse on paper than i originally thought! Not one reliable stopper on the entire list...
-
A solid 5-6 innings with this pen we currently have is not going to cut it! Who the hell are they going to pass the ball off to?! And I disagree, Willis had better be bringin' it as a great #2 starter considering what we gave up.. I have such a problem with trading everything away like this and still not having addressed our #1 weakness that cost us so many games last year.

My dad told me he heard on the radio earlier today that Kevin Jones and Roy Williams were saying they wanted out of Detroit.....lol now its getting to that point where you cant help but laugh!

The Maybin part i can handle losing...because Cabrera is just so damn good himself. The chances of Maybin turning out better than Cabrera are probably pretty small...thats a risk i can live with. But to fork over Miller....man, that blows. Willis has been great at times in his short career sure...but fact remains he hasnt been any better than Nate Robertson the past 2 seasons....actually Nate's been slightly better. Thats concerning.

Just looked it up, apparently the 3 minor leaguers are Dallas Trahern, Eugelio De La Cruz, and Burke Badenhop. Willis had better f***in return to stud form because we now officially have nothing whatsoever but Porcello for pitching prospects.
-
I usually dont ever doubt Dombrowski, but I just do not think thats a given that Willis turns it around....2 consecutive years of drop off in all your stats from the previous year brings up the caution flag for me. Even on a bad team, a pitcher still usually gives his best since he's the star on the mound. With a hitter, i could see how a bad team would effect your stats because you need other hitters around you doing things. But the only stat for a pitcher really thats dependent on your team being good is W/L record. Now If he turns things back around next year, then theres no doubt this was an outstanding trade. But if he's still slingin' a high 4-5 era...I cringe at the thought of losing Miller for this. Gotta hope for the best i guess! Keep the faith...Cabrera! Cabrera! Ok i feel a little better! Anyone know who the other 3 minor leaguers are yet? One had sure as hell better not be Porcello...which i think has only a 1% chance of happening, but until its confirmed he's not going i'm gonna be a little worried about it.

Nice to see Lilja drop the gloves on his own and not be forced into it...i expected Begin to jump him at some point and instigate but Lilja was ready and willing, crap fight but nice to see! Nothing cheap or dirty about what Dandy did imo. When you mess with a small non-fighter and long time captain like Koivu, all bets are off. Its a situation where jumping on a guy's back becomes acceptable, anything that happens is Sammy's doing for deciding to play tough guy against Koivu. If the situation were switched around, and someone was trying to rough up and fight Datsyuk, i dont think anybody would have a problem with a Wing doing the same thing. I didnt see Sammy on the ice at all for the last 2 minutes when he got out of the box, Babcock probably saved him from turtling to somebody.

The thing i dont like about Willis is that he's gotten progressively worse in every single category since 2005...signifying that last year may not have been a fluke bad year. We're not just talking one or two categories...EVERYTHING. Win/Loss record, K's down, BB's up, hits up, etc.To me this signifies a potential problem even if he is just 26. You could almost draw a conclusion that teams are starting to figure him out since his hot rookie year. I have to keep reminding myself that we have Cabrera to stop me from screaming! For losing Miller, I want more of a sure thing than Willis...to me he's coming in as a question mark. And i have to believe we couldve gotten Cabrera alone for Maybin and the 3 or 4 other prospects.
-
In case any of you arent aware of this, Dontrelle Willis had a 5.17 ERA last season. Im really sick over losing Miller for this...I dont know what to say right now. Maybin i dont have a problem with because Cabrera is awesome and young, and also has played LF before anyway back when they had Mike Lowell. I'm thrilled to have him, ....but i really dont like the Willis end of it. I hope to god if we're trading Inge we get a reliever in return. In hindsight shouldnt have even traded for Jones since Cabrera plays OF. Boston won not only because they had a good lineup, they also had a good pen. And ours right now is terrible, and Zumaya will not be effective even if he returns this year.
-
True...im just grasping for something, hoping that DMC could have the same impact as Peterson on Minnesota. On that subject, Minnesota is not a good team, theyre ok but certainly not god. Tarvaris Jackson is HORRIBLE, i dont care what he did against the Lions. That will be their achilles heel. Theres Green Bay and Dallas up at the top,....and everyone else is way...way down. Couldnt agree more

Maybin in a deal for Cabrera is imo, a no brainer no matter what Maybin's potential is. I dont know what else it would take in addition to Maybin to get him, that would be the issue...but you have to believe the odds of Maybin turning out as good as Cabrera or better are probably 20%. I'll take the proven young star (especially since we have Granderson in CF already anyway). Maybin and basically anyone other than Miller or Porcello i'd do in a heartbeat for Cabrera. My gut tells me we'll end up just trading Miller for Willis. If that happens i'll be PISSED!
-
The Pens also have Gary Roberts...so stay tuned!
-
I wonder what would be going on in Phillips' head if the team fell flat again. He'd probably say screw it and want out...
-
Blockbuster rumor going on today. The Tigers and Marlins discussing a trade that would send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis here for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, and "others". Wow...apparantly theyre willing to toss away all their prospects and yet still go in the season with massive holes in the pen. Dont get me wrong, Miguel Cabrera is an absolute stud, but i dont know about this. I sure as heck dont wanna give up Miller as well to get Willis. Maybin i would for sure in a deal for just Cabrera. Angels also have major interest in Cabrera as well.

I'd probably start Emery on the road, and Gerber in Ottawa. Gerber would probably play better at his crib.
-
At this point a Rec league would be the place for him.
-
You read my mind! I think going up against Gerber in the playoffs would be like taking candy from a baby.
