    11/27 GDT: Red Wings 5, Flames 3

So he's not supposed to hit him? So its ok for Kronwall to gun for open ice hits because he's not as big as Dion? It doesnt work that way. Not his fault if Hudler's small. He was also getting chippy with Phaneuf throughout the game...thats a result of it. But way to go Pain Train to step up...this is without a doubt an effect of having Downey. I absolutely love this guy!

    Down with the Instigator Rule

The fine has to do with a player getting an instigator penalty only in the last 5 minutes of a game. The player is suspended for a game and the coach is fined.

    Down with the Instigator Rule

NHL will never let this happen. Ive always thought there was a better chance that fighting would be removed, (or at least carry an automatic game misconduct + suspension based on how many gamers you accumulate), than the instigator rule ever going away.

    Hartnell at it again!

Exactly what i was going to say. Its not like the Flyers are making it a team-wise point to be dirty as hell. Jesse Boulerice has also been on Carolina and St Louis, are these teams dirty as well because they employed him? No, of course not, Boulerice just happened to be wearing a Flyers jersey when he decided to be an idiot and snap again. If he hadnt made the Flyers club because of a couple injuries....he couldve just as easily found his way on another NHL team as he had a nice preseason fighting -wise. I hate Scott Hartnell...but can you blame the Flyers for acquiring him? He does happen to be a pretty good player....and i also recall people on this site who wanted the Red Wings to get him! This incident last night wouldve been in a Wings uniform had you gotten your wish! So again, its more coincidental that he's on the Flyers.

I dont see Downey fighting tonight...Godard is really the only candidate and both are coming off huge battles a few nights ago...especially Godard who was in a heavyweight slugfest. I doubt either will just go for the hell of it, something of significance would have to happen for them to fight. So unless Iginla just decides to go after Lilja to get something going, I doubt we'll get any fights.

    Their favorite hockey move....the wrap-around.

    Gettin AO Outta DC

Acquiring a star in return like Pronger for Ovechkin kinda defeats the purpose of trading him to begin with. If you trade AO, you're gunning for nothing but young talent in return as you're rebuilding. In Anaheims case, they would shoot for Perry, Bobby Ryan, another top prospect (preferably a dman or goalie)...along with a pick or two im sure. The theory being you trade your one superstar for potentially 3 future big contributors...making your team much better depthwise with budding talent. A bad team trading their one star for another star really doesnt help matters...might as well just keep AO.

    Downey Love

Apparently after reading comments from Downey, his nose was cut when Boll initially went after him in the scrum...and not during the fight itself. Who knows if thats actually true but ill give him the benefit of the doubt and believe him. I was really surprised that Boll in my eyes earned the win, but after hearing how Downey was at the tail end of his shift and Boll was fresh on the ice makes it much more understandable. I think Downey was gassed from the start and thats why he was looking bad, but adrenaline kicked in to overcome the fatigue after Boll started taking it to him. Still have to call it like it i see it, win Boll, but its definitely a win with an asterisk. A "fresh Downey" would get the clear win over Boll without much problem imo. I really have a feeling thats a guaranteed rematch next game out, with both at the beginning of the shift this time....probably right off the faceoff.

    The Fight Thread

That was a hell of a battle! I'd go edge King. Godard needed a showing like this, he hasnt really looked that great this year.

    Downey Love

Im definitely worried he's going to get claimed next time around. I think they should just put Ellis on waivers, would he even get claimed??? I doubt it. But if so, no biggie. Why risk losing someone who's shown good value to the team especially considering you wont have any replacement to bring up? With Ellis, if you lost him you could probably just call up some guy like Hartigan and not even notice the difference.

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

I'm guessing the Nashville game that had a bunch of fights from 3 or 4 years ago. I know McCarty went with Jeremy Stevenson and Jamie Allison. I think Maltby may have even gotten credited with 2 although he was a ***** in both against Scott Walker. Dandenault got in 2 as well. Wow...what a game that was!

    20 games for Downie

The first game he plays against Ottawa is going to be the game of the year. Biron may get stuck having to fight Emery again! Poor guy...

Dont get me wrong, I tried to look for every way possible to give it to my boy Downey But to no avail. I may be a Downey homer in other aspects, but when it comes fights gotta call it like i see it no matter who it is. Jared Boll is damn entertaining though! The more i watch him, the more im liking him.

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

Very nice game last night! This is the way hockey's supposed to be played folks....with alot of passion and not just a bunch of fancy shmancy crap! Both of these games against the Jackets have been entertaining, this one especially. Downey definitely has an effect on the whole team when he's in there. As for the fights, Downey/Shelley was an uneventful draw. Downey/Boll, looking at it unbiasedly, you've gotta give it to Boll. He was definitely more effective early on than Downey was late....score that one an upset. Good, exciting tilt anyway though.

If Downey keeps this up im going to have to start wearing adult diapers. The combination of beer, trying to hold off going to the bathroom, and then seeing a great fight doesnt work to well!

Downey just made me urinate everywhere! I was like a dog who gets picked up by their owner after being boarded for a month! Only down note...Downey should be beating Boll pretty decisively, but that wasnt the case. Oh well! I'll care about that later! Right now i dont give a s***!

That guy behind the bench is drinking a Mountain Dew too...no friggin way that isnt half liquor.

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

Two observations/questions so far: Was Chris Chelios' son wearing eye shadow? How did that scraggly ass guy who looks straight out of the trailor park manage to get tickets right behind the Blue Jackets bench?
  23. We dont need to be drafting a linebacker in the first round. We already have Ernie Sims, and Boss Bailey looks good in spots and is finally staying healthy. Granted Paris Lenon should be replaced, but overall mainly because of Sims its a decent group. Go with the best tackle or the best corner available. And in the next round, take the other one!

    Jerseys - Around the League

I only have 3 hockey jerseys: Montreal St. Louis Buffalo (the original white one with the blue and yellow) That white Buffalo one is probably my favorite of all time, and of course i had to buy it cause at the time the Sabres had my boys May, Ray, and Barnaby out there throwing the fists! Gotta support the team.

    2007 College Football Season Talk

I prefer Kansas/Ohio St, since the Buckeyes at least carry name value and would be a nice final test for KU. OSU/WVU is the worst and least intriguing matchup imo. If not Kansas/Ohio St, ...then i'd take Missouri/Ohio St. Everything aside from those 2 possibilities is really bad.
