Glad to have ya on board! Drake's one asset to the team so far has been bringing toughness. Now that thats been taken away because of his injury, he's just bringing nothing to the table. The skill difference in relation to to their respective ice times between him and Downey isnt big enough to warrant him playing injured over Aaron. I mean, if Downey is -6 he'd be run out of town, ...i dont think Drake should get special treatment just for being Dallas Drake!

    Ohlund Suspended 4 games

I'm completely against that and here's why. Lets say a key player on a team injures a 4th liner late in the year. Whats to stop that team from claiming their guy is still injured just to keep the offending player out of that team's lineup? Thats a major reason why that idea wont work. Way too much shadiness can surround it.

The Wings are 8-1 with him in the lineup! Where are all the people saying he'd hurt the team is what i wanna know

You play Downey, you win the game! Nuff said Theres a different energy when he plays, the guy is really is pretty damn entertaining to watch too. You can tell Mickey really loves him too. He better continue to play over Drake!

Downey would "rather leave him (Shelley) on the ice" LOL! Nice crack. Im pretty sure if theyre on the ice at the same time in the 2nd, they'll be going.

    Game day experince

She's the lady who sews Lilja's gloves to his sweater every game. Had i been there i wouldve hung my head in shame, possibly even left my seat, if i heard that comeback. WEAK!

    B's Vs Habs

Garth Murray really isnt much better than Kostopulous though fighting wise. He's not a heavy, so i could see why they didnt feel there was a spot for him. Downey on the other hand, while by no means a great heavy, is at least one and is a much better fighter than Kostopulous. Games like this where your team gets beat up (at the hands of a rival no less)have a tendency of making teams want to get tougher, its a situation where they may decide to grab Downey for the hell of it if he's made available again. Maybe they'll think he's learned a few things playing here. At least we have a few more weeks before the Wings will do it again... aaaah yes the grit of Dandenault! Can you imagine the sheer ferocity if him and Lilja paired together?
  8. Will somebody please explain to me why TJ Duckett is never used on short yardage situations? Why the hell is he even here! Its kinda the Wings having Downey and not playing him against the tougher teams. Whats the point?

I'm already boiling after watching the Lions game, if Downey doesnt play my couch will become my punching bag for sure. I cant take any more disappointment right now!
  10. Way to go McDonald. Kitna absolutely blew the previous possession with a bonehead throw, but McDonald blew the game on that play. And what the f*** was up with that on purpose fumble...that one very nearly stayed in bounds. Well, all i can do now is hope that i was wrong about the Giants. If not, we're going 7-9 and getting asses handed to us by Green Bay Thursday. Its a good thing we have Troy "fair catch" Walters and Aveion Cason as our returners though. I mean, is there anything more consistent than these guys? Cason will always get you between the 16 and 25 yd line every time, and Walters will give us the ball wherever he catches it!

Do we need a few changes?

Well, the fact that he had some bad games there and still ended up with those playoff stats overall just shows how great he was in the prior 2 series! Still though, he did give them 3 winnable games against the Ducks. Against a team with as much firepower as Anaheim had, that counts for something. Hasek was a key reason they were even to that point is what im saying.

Uh, the clip i saw of this fight showed Nash in there tossing haymakers with Vandermeer. If i was Vandy i'd be the one who's embarrassed that a goal scorer in Nash accounted for himself so well against him. Also, its kind hard to find time to remove your visor when a fight starts spontaneously against the boards as the final horn sounds, there was no square off. The announcers were the ones saying to break it up, when Nash's helmet came off he was still tossing 'em.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

But there WOULD be something wrong with him physically. Not from an injury standpoint, but in the fact that his age has caught up him and he cant physically play goal at a decent level anymore. I'm not saying thats the case at this current point in time, just suggesting it if he indeed continued to play like this for another month. I just can not see him sticking around sitting on the bench with really bad numbers....he's too proud of a guy. The only reason he's still playing at this age is to start and lead the team to one last Cup. I'm one that believes Dom needs to keep playing, to find out whether this is just a funk or if its the real him. So im not one of those make Dom the back up right now or waive him bashers. I think the team needs him, but im very skeptical as to whether he's going to pull out of this. But i'd definitely give him the oppurtunity to do so.

Ducks could trade Schneids if Neidermeyer returns

Schneider is actually making 5.5 million this year and next....which completely 100% rules out any return here. I dont even know why people are discussing it! They'd be acquiring the exact problem the Ducks are getting rid of him for! Besides, even if with a gun to his head Burke wouldnt trade him back here. He would take the infamous bag of pucks for him from someone out East before he did that.

    Trade Deadline Options

Give up on this Jokinen for Franzen and Sammy crap. While they may be seeing second line time on this team, neither are actually legit quality top 6'ers. If they were, then we wouldnt be having problems!! No way in hell they give up Jokinen for that, come on...be serious. At least throw Filppula in there cause he'd be going the other way for sure.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

Does anybody else have the feeling that if his play stays at this level for another month, that Dom would walk away , retire, and leave the rest of this year's salary on the table? In his eyes, he wouldnt want to play anymore at the level he's at as a backup, and at the same time he'd be giving the team some more cap room and allowing them to call up Howard full time. I think this is a very distinct possibility, and if i was a betting man(which i am), its the scenario i'd go with.

Do we need a few changes?

Up until the playoffs??? Hasek stole some of those games imo, they definitely dont get that far without him. He had a 1.79 GAA and a .923 SV%,...for you to say you liked him up until the playoffs i dont get it at all. He played great. He wasnt the only reason they made it to the WCF, but he was the main one in my eyes. Hasek has been atrocius this season though. With guys this age, a complete 180 can happen just like that in one offseason. You cant give up on him just yet though. Giving Osgood more games is fine, but you cant demote Dom yet to playing once every 5 or 6 games. Theyre still in first place and have the luxury of trying to see if he's really done or if he's just in a funk. I believe the thinking with management is that in order for them to make a deep run in the playoffs, they need Hasek. Osgood has played awesome and im not taking anything away from that, but i dont believe the confidence level is really very high in him for the playoffs. If Hasek continues to play horrible though, then you just have to go with Osgood and see what happens.

    B's Vs Habs

Montreal is definitely going to be on the hunt for an enforcer after this. Unless they find somebody in the mean time, if we put Downey on waivers next month, he may be going back to the Canadians.

    Where was Cheli?

Chelios even at this point in his career is better than Meech will EVER be. The guy's a run of the mill 7th NHL defenseman/AHL guy. That being said its certainly not a mistake scratching Chelios....i dont know why anyone would feel that way. We're lucky he's still somehow holding on...you dont push your luck by playing him 82 games.

    At the Quarter Pole

Columbus definitely wont last...neither will Nashville. St Louis will make the playoffs,...Chicago will make a nice try but eventually fade off. And why am I 100% right? Because i'm 1/4 Pole...thats why.

    GDT 11/17: Blackhawks 5, Red Wings 3

You're right Flip, It is very much a wildcard situation with Hasek. I think its a good gamble having him, but its still always a risk. Its the same with Chelios, yes he continues to do well and not break down, but anyone that age is always a wildcard because you never know when his legs will inevitably go.

Ducks could trade Schneids if Neidermeyer returns

Well they would have to do something eventually, because if Neidermayer returns you'd think he'd probably continue playing the following season as well. Waaaaay too much money on the blue line, but theyre not going to get equal value for Schneider because of his contract. They'd probably move him for just a draft pick.
